Thank You for this video ! What constitutes a "strong displacement" ? how far out of the range or for how much time out of the range creates that ? thanks
Jdub, thank you for this great video. Very helpful. My question is what is the difference between this strategy and the Opening Range Break? Is the only difference where you place the stop loss? Please explain when you get a chance. Thank you
When I see good videos like this I usually take out my time to appreciate the experts that make these videos possible, it is not easy to help lots of people earn money
I’m newbie in trading and really having hard time to understand the market but after watched this and also been testing this strat for 5 days and yes it’s really working 😃 thank you so soooo muchhhhh❤
Jdub, it’s an honest effort on your part, but this strategy doesn’t work consistently because it’s based on a false premise. That is, once your initial 5 minute range is established and retested, that this retest will have a propensity to move in whichever direction it breaks, with a 2/1 (+/-) profit/loss ratio. A more thorough back test will show that, in fact, the propensity for a move in the breaking direction is basically a coin toss with many factors that could cause this trade to move against you. This is not to say that this wouldn’t be a winning strategy during a given week or month. But over time it will prove to be wrong as often as right. Sorry, I don’t intend to be a detractor, but I’ve modeled this and ran a years worth of data so I know it won’t work over time. Nevertheless, a thoughtful thesis.
Great video, thanks! Two questions though… 1) What is “strong displacement”? It seems subjective. When you back test, you seem to ignore some breakouts but trade others. There should be a numerical rule. 2) Have you actually backtested a system enough times to make sure it’s a winner? That last example is actually a loss. Not a “less than 2x gain”. You can’t see the future when trading, so you can’t change the rules on the fly. That’s a stop out.
Great question @yiyoguerra. You can use a momentum filter on your highest timeframe to anticipate strong displacement. But it basically means a "break below close below" the opening range in this example :)
Hi, yiyoguerra. It's true that you can't see the future when trading, but you can change the rules on the fly if you design your system to do that. I recommend trading two systems simultaneously--one that trades strict, and one that trades with flexibility. Instead of using only one version of the system and giving it control of 1R of risk, use two versions of it with each one controlling 0.5R. You could also use three versions of the system giving each one control of 0.33R of risk. Your results over time will be much smoother that way--trust me. ;)
Thank you for this video! Do you wait for a strong bullish or bearish candle at the retest level? or do you set to enter a limit order at the retest level, doesn’t matter how the candle formed there? I have a feeling if I wait for a confirmation candle, my stop loss would be too big. Thanks so much again!
Yes as I mentioned you can wait for confirmation which will result in higher Winrate but lower RR or you can buy as it touches that level which will result in lower winrate but higher RR
You can wait for confirmation but that might equal less RR but higher winrate and if you don’t wait you will have lower winrate and larger RR. It’s all up to you.
So far great strategy! I was curios of you could explain the times where displacement occurs, but maybe its too much and youd want to exit the trade? For ex, Id assume if displacement is 3 or 4x the size of the range, you may consider the retracement a market reversal? Are there times you cancel your entry due to specific conditions? Or if the displacement is bearish and bounces up off a multi day low?
Absolutely, I tried the live casino the other night. It's like they've brought the whole casino experience to the screen. Did you have a favorite table
I just literally watched a video of a guy who just got a 150k funded account using this strategy and got clapped. He was waiting for the retest to bounce off of support and it just dumped all the way through and clapped him. That might work for some but not everyone. I’d be careful y’all. Still gave like, good content.
There is plenty of different break and retest setups. With the break and retest there is about 10-15 BnR setups. When trading the break and retest you can't just look for any break and retest. You have to be able to find high probability points of interest with multiple confluences.
Sounds like terrible risk management to me. There is no such thing as a perfect strategy so sounds like your guy didn't know his strategy at all. At least, not his risk management component of his strategy!
@@realistic7894 I think that’s its layers to trading. And I think videos like this doesn’t give full context of the dangers and how to minimize the risk.
Great video! I am wondering what a strong displacement is?? Would that be a close 30% past the low or high, or more? What do you consider strong? This will help clarify the way to know the signal is there?
Thank you brother! I appreciate this valuable information… I’ve been working for years killing myself to make someone else’s paradise instead of my own. It’s time to get off this modern day plantation and set myself free! Thank you again for providing us the tools that we need to free ourselves!
He traded in hindsight lol! His idea of 'strong displacement' was weaker when the video first starts and then he needed more movement later cause he saw it would be a losing trade. Then again towards the end, he accepted another displacement that was the even weaker than the earlier one he rejected . Watch the whole video again and pay attention to the second back test and then the last backtest.
I went over NQ and it doesn't seem all that great. Works maybe 50% chance at best and when it doesn't you'll end up taking a huge loss. It needs a lot of tweaking and knowing what days to pick to use this strategy and even then it might not be worth the hassle. There will be so many days the market just chops in the 1st 30 min and it'll hit your SL before your profit target. But then again, if it was so great there be no need to share it. He'll be making millions in the market. Market open is just too unpredicatable to come up with a great consistent strategy. You be better off just avoiding the 1st 30 minutes.
this video is the real game changer...My ORB strategy failed as I never waited for the retest. after watching this video my ORB strategy has been perfected!
In one of the examples, you placed your entry at the very top of the rejection wick as it retested the lower 5min opening level. Do you truly take short entries on bullish green candles just because it forms a top wick on the level touch? I always thought taking a short on a bullish candle is a poor signal and instead should be a bearish candle for the entry.
@@JdubTrades how long do you wait for that pullback? also, buying anywhere in that opening range (or shorting) would be okj correct? the thesis is that the opening range is providing the direction for the day so a bounce to the upside and a pullback a few hrs later within that range can be bought as the theory is the day is still bullish if the initial break was to the upside correct?
Great video thank you! My question is as follows. Once you identify displacement and price retest your entry zone, do you have a limit order already in place waiting to be tapped into the trade or are you manually executing the trade? Everything else was clear. I will test and give you feedback in our discord. 🙏👍
I will personally go on the 1 Minute timeframe and wait for a tap into the ORB Retest level. Since we trade with options it will be difficult to calculate the options price perfectly in a short period of time

Great video Jdubs! Thanks for sharing. For the 5 min ORB, do you enter on the 1 min chart or the 5 min chart? Also do you stop out when the 5min candle closes at your stop or the 1min candle? Thank you!
If you are on the 5 Min chart you can go on the 1 minute for precise entries but after that you want to manage you trad on the 5 minute timeframe. Only reason to be on the 1 minute timeframe is for more precision.

For the past six months, I've been trading Bitcoin independently but have been facing losses. Can anyone provide guidance on how to achieve profitability?
Fantastic video! Your easy scalping strategy is not only simple but also highly effective. I appreciate how you break down each step clearly and make it accessible for beginners. The emphasis on avoiding bias and relying on mechanical rules is a game-changer. Keep up the great work!
I like the concept and it works well as long as the breakout candle isn't news related and as long as there isn't some sort of big resistance area close by after the re-test like vwap or a key level.
I use this strategy as well but on the opening 15 minute range instead. break and retest using using the 1 min time frame for entry. 60% win rate aiming for 100 pips with a 25-50 pip stop loss. a losing week of 2/5 with this strategy is is still Good because indexes for a fact gonna give you a 100 pip move straight in one direction at least 3 out of 5 days. I don't even stress about losses any more because a this strategy on a bad losing week can still be profitable with risk to reward ratio. and with this strategy you gonna be in one of those 100 pips moves at least 2-3 times out of 5 days
Most of these "strategies" are shown using perfect examples to give the allusion that they work. But in reality, you will lose more than you make listening to RUclips trading gurus. The market takes patience to learn. It's NOT for beginners. Period
Thanks for a great video .. would you mind sharing the details of the session indicator that you use and its setting to pick the right m5 candle of 9:30 ?
Could you please clarify which market opening you're referring to when you mention the opening range from 9:30am-10:00am? I noticed that the opening times for the Asia, UK, and US markets differ from this timeframe, so I wanted to confirm which market you're specifically referencing
thank you for these informative videos! im still in high school, fairly young but I wanna start now and learn all that I need to know to master the skill of trading ❤🎉
Stop at bos. To calculate the risk there is a bunch of factors like dollar amount. You can calculate theta, etc. I can possibly make a video on this in the future.
On the 2nd day, the 3rd candle clearly goes below the low. Then according to the rule you would enter as soon as it touched the low again as a retest. But you just ignored it, knowing it would continue up and just made some excuse about it going up too fast. Until I see you trade this strategy life, with real money, it is not good enough for me. But I appreciate the video. It gave me some other ideas.
I think you may have misunderstood. The trading plan. You're not just looking for a breakout,.. It is a breakout with continuation. In this case that you're describing, there was no continuation, thus, it was not a valid setup.
While this is a great trading plan, my only issue is putting the stop loss exactly on top of the range boundary. Price seeks those boundaries in and will often wick you out. Need to put just a little bit of extra stop loss past the range boundary
hi Dude, and I see you opening trade aggressively after first retouch , not even waiting, to see what candle is it.. But if it works, its great !!! Have you try to use this strategy on indeces? SP500, etc..?
I lost over $80k when everything started to tank. Not because I was in an exchange that went belly up. I was just stupid to hold and because that's what everyone said. I'm still responsible. @@JdubTrades If there is a news release expected, would you wait until the news settles down and thus delay entry based on the previous original set up (9:30 candle)? Thanks in advance : )
the entry is not clear tho do I wait for candle to close and take the trade? cuz in one of your example the candle after broke then tested, but closed far away below which would've resulted in a big SL so just wondering on that part Do i enter as soon as the candle wicks into the retest area or do i wait for the candle to close on the area of retest to enter correctly without having a big stop loss.. nonetheless, amazing video!

The best and simplest video out there thanks God bless u.
I’m newbie in trading and really having hard time to understand the market but after watched this and also been testing this strat for 5 days and yes it’s really working 😃
thank you so soooo muchhhhh❤
did u use the 1 min or 5min chart?
Thank you for teaching this strategy
What time is opening candle in NY time exactly ?
With a 50/50 win rate and a 2/1 risk to reward ratio you’re still going to be profitable. He even states this at the end of the video
What do you think about the wheel games? They've added some interesting new ones
Great video, thanks! Two questions though…
1) What is “strong displacement”?
Your results over time will be much smoother that way--trust me. ;)
Excellent! Thank you Jdub
Youre doing this on the SPY? Are you buying options or just buying the Shares? Also how do you short? Do you buy puts or sell short the shares?
Thank you for this video! Do you wait for a strong bullish or bearish candle at the retest level? or do you set to enter a limit order at the retest level, doesn’t matter how the candle formed there? I have a feeling if I wait for a confirmation candle, my stop loss would be too big. Thanks so much again!
Yes as I mentioned you can wait for confirmation which will result in higher Winrate but lower RR or you can buy as it touches that level which will result in lower winrate but higher RR
@@JdubTrades what would confirmation be?
Great video! Do you wait for the candle to closed before entering for extra confirmation?
You can wait for confirmation but that might equal less RR but higher winrate and if you don’t wait you will have lower winrate and larger RR. It’s all up to you.
So far great strategy! I was curios of you could explain the times where displacement occurs, but maybe its too much and youd want to exit the trade? For ex, Id assume if displacement is 3 or 4x the size of the range, you may consider the retracement a market reversal? Are there times you cancel your entry due to specific conditions? Or if the displacement is bearish and bounces up off a multi day low?
I back tested this from January of this year, the results are not good. I lost an average of 8 out of 10. If it works for you though.. go right ahead.
You have to be able to find high probability points of interest with multiple confluences.
damn wtf
What's the big deal if you have one losing trade? That's what stops are for.
Interesting approach and perfectly demonstrated. thanks
how do you screen for (these)

Here's a question. Time in force for the trade? How long before you expire the trade to make the long or short?
Just one question, is this strategy to be applied in the general opening of the market or in the opening of NY?
Which market opening do you recommend? 😊
Great video! I am wondering what a strong displacement is?? Would that be a close 30% past the low or high, or more? What do you consider strong? This will help clarify the way to know the signal is there?

This was one of the best videos on cryptocurrency I’ve seen.
Great video, I like how you back tested additional days to show that realistically there will be losses too.
Yes no strategy is going to have an 100% win rate. Even if you have a 50% winrate with a 1:2 RR, you will be very profitable.
@@8KFlow You are completely right.

this video is the real game changer...My ORB strategy failed as I never waited for the retest. after watching this video my ORB strategy has been perfected!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you! Very effective I tried it for the first time this morning and it really works! You got a new subscriber here...

Which opening is it about? London ? New York? Asia?
Please is it the first 5Min Candle of London Open?
@@JdubTrades how long do you wait for that pullback? also, buying anywhere in that opening range (or shorting) would be okj correct? the thesis is that the opening range is providing the direction for the day so a bounce to the upside and a pullback a few hrs later within that range can be bought as the theory is the day is still bullish if the initial break was to the upside correct?
Does this strategy work well on daytrading penny stocks?
I have used this strategy and had success in two days in a row so far. It is easy to use, and relatively low stress. Thank you!

I'm from the Philippines 9:30am of what time zone? London?
Hi what trading platform are you using?

Glad it was helpful!
What other instruments will this work with ? Can i use this on stock options. Forex ?
I like the concept and it works well as long as the breakout candle isn't news related and as long as there isn't some sort of big resistance area close by after the re-test like vwap or a key level.
Yes if you add more confluences and higher timeframe key level you will know which ones to take and avoid.
can i try at forex market? and how to use? do i use with forex open session?
I back tested this and lost overall
that's what i was saying...it's not gonna work.
Period

@@1billyjcraw looked like the same type of continuation you were observing on the other trades.
@@cgb1394 I suppose continuation is subjective but I would want more than just one follow-on candle after the breakout.
While this is a great trading plan, my only issue is putting the stop loss exactly on top of the range boundary. Price seeks those boundaries in and will often wick you out. Need to put just a little bit of extra stop loss past the range boundary
