My mother's Italian and I have almost 60 first cousins on her side. Huge Italian family. Sebastian shows his true sincerity and honesty having his dad on like this. Excellent.. great to see Sebastian's humility while in the middle of such great success. High respect Seb!

As a son of a Sicilian father (from Pietraperzia, Enna), I can totally relate to Sebastian’s upbringing and the tough love we got from our fathers. The way they show it is complicated, but builds us not to take shit from anyone. Bravo, Toto!

Showing your kids love and the respect they deserve as your kids is not a weakness. Life is not black and white. You can be stern and demand respect while showing love and attention to your children.
    Do both

Your father is absolutely right. Just one example. My mother "TOLD" me that she loved me very, very rarely. She was also very reserved physically and was very sparing with her hugs and kisses. Yet, she was the sweetest, kindest, most loving mother it is possible to imagine. She sacrificed herself for me every minute of the day, cooking, cleaning, hemming my clothes, walking me a mile to swim lessons because she couldn't drive, sitting up with me if I was studying late for a test so I wouldn't be alone, coming into my room if I had a nightmare and laying down with me, wearing a thin coat so I could get a new, warm one.. Before I married I told my husband I could not be more than a three-hour drive from home, and I'd have to go home to see my parents at least once a month. When she died at 61 it broke me. I think I only survived it because I had two children to raise. Words are cheap. How many times have people told their spouse they "love" them while cheating on them? "By their deeds shall you know them".

I must have been a Sicilian man in my past life, because I identify with your father so much! I love Ed Mylett, but that section of the interview made my skin crawl. It’s not necessary to do all that to let your kids know that you love them.

Loved this episode. Sebastian could you consider inviting your sister on the show ? She sounds amazing and would like to hear her take on how she felt your parents raised her. Papa Sal seems very smart and wise.

Wish I was able to pick my battles when raising my own children, instead of coming down on every single concern no matter how small. As a grandparent, I let my grandchildren get away with everything. They can do no wrong 🤣😂

Omg …watching your father reminds me of my maternal grandparents. They were exactly the same way…I’m 52 now but, I remember how opposite they were from my paternal grandparents.
The Italian way of thinking, speaking, and acting is great. It made me the outspoken and fun person that I always have been 😂

Words not backed by actions are just that and nothing more - - words. The mantra-sayer is a big phony. Salvatore can zero in on the artificiality. He is 💯 on the mark.

This idea as a parent you can feed your kids a mantra and that’s all there is to building character in your child is a bunch of crap. The truth is 99% of a person’s character is genetics and 1% environmental. Your child is born with his or her own character and the best you can do as a parent is like them for who they are. They have their own life lessons to learn so be there as a supportive friend. Parents can’t take responsibility for their success or failures. They are their own person.
