🤣"This part of Texas is as flat as an armadillo crossing I-10" 😂😂😂 That's a hilarious way to start of this great video! I hope to visit Palo Duro Canyon sometime soon now!!
Thanks for going to the trouble to interview a Ranger. That's a first for the people who video our area landmark. When I was a kid we went there on end-of-school trips. They turned all us free range country kids loose to blaze our own trails up to those points of interest. Half the time we spent crawling on our knees because there were no trails. I was known as She Hunts Rattlers because I spent a lot of energy warning my classmates, "Keep your eyes on the ground". In the last few yrs I had a photo (shot by a wrangler) pop up in my utoob feed of a huge snake den up near the rim of the canyon. There were hundreds and hundreds of them. I didn't sleep well for a week. =)
I went to caprock canyon a couple weeks ago which is just as amazing. Its crazy when you're just driving along in flat land and all of a sudden you see these huge canyons. If you are traveling through the panhandle this is definitely worth the little detour. Even If just to drive by
The show Space Force brought Palo Duro to my attention. Then that led to look up the biggest canyons in the US. Turns out I've been to 7/10! I'll have to make my way back to TX and check Palo Duro off the list.
This park ranger, not the sharpest cookie of the batch. A canyon that is a hundred thousand to a million years old on a six thousand year old year is a really neat trick! I wish I could do tricks like that!
Palo Duro, like Grand Canyon, is large enough it could have been ceded to Native Americans as a permanent settlement. In Copper Canyon down south- Native's still live traditionally "Tarahumara" are there and although contacted, they still retain their cultural identity.See Copper Canyon Runners:

Wish you all had a subscription based channel on Roku!
Thank You, Lord...
I went to Palo Duro with a College Group headed to Glorieta in New Mexico. I ended up getting separated from the Group lol..

I haven't been to Copper Canyon but really want to go. Didn't know that there were still natives living there.
So your traveling solo today...
Too bad the best stuff is off-limits there in Palo Duro Canyon....
Do explain!
Not since they opened up the southeast half of the park to backpackers
