My manual said nothing ab the water heater supply line either! I’ve got a GE SmartWater™ Softening System. Manual said add 3/4 OZ of bleach to brine well to sanitize. I made a HUGE mistake and added 3/4 CUUPPSS!!! SMH can’t believe I did this. Any advice you might have, would be greatly appreciated
Actually no need to shut off the water heater inlet. When the water softener is in "regen", water simply bypasses the water softener to the faucets and heater etc..

Hey! Sorry for the unrelated comment, but I had a question on your 2017 Chevy Colorado Camshaft Solenoid change video. I have the P0014 code, so the P0024 code, but for bank 1, but I cant tell which solenoid is my exhaust. Is there anyway you can tell me? Also, Did you need to remove the Valve guards on the Bank1 side to change the solenoids? Thanks! P.S do you have a part number for the Solenoid used?
Didn't realize we needed to close the water heater valve before starting the recharge. Couldn't have been more than 10 or 15 minuets before we turned it off. Is this ok??
I have a Kenmore, but it's essentially the same. I've had it bypassed for a couple of years because I had my kitchen sink back up and inadvertently plunged grey water into the softener. So I bypassed it until I could get to it. I'm a procrastinator, I know. My question is will this method work or should I have it professionally cleaned and inspected since it was backed up with gray water?
Great... my manual said nothing about shutting off the water heater valve before doing the regeneration...

Nice video. Do I need to sanitize every year? Thanks.
Hey man I have the same unit I put in new about a year ago. Recently my water started to smell kinda fishy. Is this why you are sanitizing your unit?
I proactively sanitized the softener after having to raise the temperature of my hot water heater to combat a rotten egg sulphur smell

I'm sure you are fine, I just close the valve as a precaution.
@LehewTech Ah ok. Thank you.

I think it would work although it might be a good idea to replace all the salt and run it thru 2 or 3 regeneration cycles.
Please do you have update on your whirlpool water softener?
Yea it's still working
Helpful video, thank you!
this was very helpful, thank you
If I did not add water or do the regen after installing it, how bad is it? Can I still do it afterwards?
did you ever resolve this? I did exactly what you did
@@bridgewaterftw I just did the regen a couple days after installing it. I haven't seen any issues yet (knock on wood)
VERY HELPFUL! THANK YOU!!!!!!!! This really helps me.
What happens if you accidentally add too much bleach?
How much bleach did you add?
