you could also reenforce it with a straight bracket or the straight part of a plastic hanger between the cardboard layers. This is especially good if you dont want the shelf to be so thick.
Ingenius! I have a fancy armoire which is used as a dresser and it needs another shelf but matching the wood grain isn't possible, so it feels silly spending money for something which is never going to look quite right. But this free -- free is GREAT for "almost matches"! Thanks!
@@AmonNouse can't beat mass production I learned this the hard way making stuff from stone and granite I'd have to charge 3x the market price on amazon for the same item I make can't compete at all.
It's not. Ikea has the cardboard stripes vertically and in a honeycomb shape to hold the weight and distribute it (almost) equally across the whole piece of wood.
@Robert Flask OSB has some flakes in every direction, but the majority are oriented a certain way to increase the strength. The "strength axis" is stamped on the bottom of every sheet.
It would depend on which way the shelf is going to span, ie, if it is transferring loads along both axes. I since the supports are on the two sides of the shelf and not at the back, it makes sense to have all the corrugations span between the supports. If the back of the shelf had some supports below it, then alternating the direction of the corrugations might serve some purpose.
pretty slick boss. If you made a whole shelving unit out of it it would weight a helluva lot less than that particle board and be just as structurally sound.
Thank you so much for this ideaaaa! Will be living in a compound apartment and building some pf my wardrobe shelving and this is such a good help! Thank youuu!
When you stack it together, you should cross them piece by piece to make it strong. If you don't know what I mean by that, I will try to explain it as detail as possible. Let say you have 5 pieces of cardboard that you want to stack it together. You will notice that a cardboard has many straw hole. When you stack and glue them together, 1st pieces of cardboard hole will facing the different direction from 2nd pieces of cardboard when glued together like a cross. The same goes between 2nd to 3rd, 3rd to 4th, and 4th ro 5th.
It's not only beautiful a perfect match to. I did this same trick, had a piece of particle board to thin to support weight I wood glued 3 pcs of heavy cardboard to it next day covered it with wood grain contact paper, it marched the other shelves so well my friend couldn't tell
Exellent, you can basically create any bookshelf or cupboard yourself. You only need the right size cardboard. I guess these shelves have good insulating properties. You could also buy a big pack of styrofoam sheets from Home Depot and do the same thing, did you try that? I am thinking of doing just that and laminate it with some sturdy mahony plastic and alu-foil, to be used as insulating panels that fit right into windows so a cold night has little or no impact on room temperature. Thanks for this tip.
@haveaniceday and if you want an actual explanation: it will be way harder to bend in half since the other layers are the opposite way so they don't let you bend it in half.
I like this! I was looking for easy diy shelves for my school locker (because ya girl can't get to a store because parents are rats sometimes ok ok) and I can easily make this in my open period (robotics teacher has lots of cardboard), Good way to recycle!
Wish I'd seen these videos before my friend got rid of all her moving boxes and my cardboard. I was going to get some plywood cut for shelving but this would have been cheaper!
Gracias
It is better to alternate the boards, having the ‘grain’ of one sheet at right angles to the one below. This increases the strength enormously.
you could also reenforce it with a straight bracket or the straight part of a plastic hanger between the cardboard layers. This is especially good if you dont want the shelf to be so thick.
Very nice work, forget the people who can't appreciate your work. The finishing touch of the veneer was excellent!

This is an absolute PERFECT solution for what I need on my budget! Thanks so much for sharing! 🙌❤️
cheaper to buy one from ikea!

I've been using Elmer's glue with cardboard for years - works great!
Thank you for the details to pay attention to for making sturdy furniture, smaller projects.
I love how neat your work is!!!
Thank you!
kikomoda it's good but it would be stronger if you alternate the grain of the cardboard, like making plyboard. 😊

Wow this is a great way to recycle and reuse cardboard. You've done an excellent job. I swear your shelf is much sturdier that those at IKEA.

Boa tarde e saudações daqui do Brasil. Sensacional seu trabalho e obrigada por compartilhar
modo como você fez. Ficou incrível.
Friend Kikomoda, your work to me is lovely art, brilliance, and simplicity. Thank you for showing us this video.
Blessings from New Mexcio. pierre
It's worth alternating the directions of the corrugation. It should vast increase the strength
I would only add one sheet in the other direction. The majority should be the way they show. This is similar to OSB oriented strand board.

It's as good as wood to make a cabinet out of a box.💜👍👍
Good job. Recycle every time you can.
Bless you my friend. Perfection, neatness, creativity.... I love all of this in your work. Hats off.🙌👏

Did you end up doing it? If so, how did it turn out?

I'm only searching this up cause idk what to do with all my leftover moving boxes and I'm tryna make the biggest DIY room makeover ever lmao
And? How was it?
Omg. Same. This feels like I'll be making more waste than earlier with all the paper and glue.
Wowww superb very smart nobody will know the difference

Nice idea when your missing shelves. Would be easy to do with little effort as well.
This is a wonderful video, very nice work!! Thank you so much, Kikomoda! ❤️
Good idea 👍 thanks you for sharing
do you think you could make a floating cardboard shelve tutorial ? that would be cool
You made very nice finished carbord shalf gud work 👌
THE MUSIC HAD ME JAMMING WHEN IT BROKE DOWN STARTING AT 1:30. I WAS LIKE YALL BETTA PLAY THEM INSTRUMENTS? 😄😄😄😄
That looks beautiful.
Excellent job,well done 👏👏👏
why aren't we all doing this????? there is SO MUCH cardboard out there. I'm embaressed by how much cardboard I have.

Amazing! Thank you for the inspiration
Very Very Nice 👍
Wow This gave me a tons of ideas THAAAAAANK YOU
If you alternate the direction of the grain it makes the shelf even stronger.
boom
paper plywood? :D
@haveaniceday care to explain?
@haveaniceday it is true. If you alternate the direction of the grain of each cardboard layer it will be stronger. It's just how physics work.
@haveaniceday and if you want an actual explanation: it will be way harder to bend in half since the other layers are the opposite way so they don't let you bend it in half.
Oh, bleSs you...👼 I desperately needed this!!!
Hi friend , I like your videos 😍💚
Thank you
Bravo , c'est génial
Great job. Thank you.
Excellent thanks for sharing
Great job, very neat work.
Nice!
I wonder how much it costs though including that wood-patterned paper, glue and paperboard.
Oooo can you show me how to make an entertainment stand out of a plank and cinder blocks next?
Great job

How old are you that your parents don't let you go to a store? Wtf? I bet they don't let you use scalpels either
Excelentes ideas!!! Me sacaste de un apuro!!! muchísimas gracias!
Very Good👍
Wow it was really amazing great talent....
Pretty ingenious for what he used it for!
Blown away!
Wish I'd seen these videos before my friend got rid of all her moving boxes and my cardboard. I was going to get some plywood cut for shelving but this would have been cheaper!
This guy just told on an entire industry! I think I know what's between lamanent now
Amazing you are a very good carpenter
Gracias
Very nice ! 👍 Thank you a lot
Loved your work. I'm planning to make one. Share the measurements please.
Surely you need to measure for your shelves... Not the person's in the video!
Beautiful and neat. Great work 👏👏👏
Thank you for your clean hands!!!
OMG! OMG! 😲👀😲💯
Your craft video as beautiful as my craft videos
Encantada com seu capricho.
This would be a great way to keep weight to a minimum in a camper van build.
100
If you can find honeycomb cardboard it will work better. It will be much stronger. or you could run the corrugations the otherway.
how to stick shelf in wardrobe....which hook u are used???? where i ll get????
Perfeito parece ser madeira,amei, lindo.
Great.... my only concern is strength. Can it really hold onn so much weight
Can you put the measurements of the cardboard please
great job as always! And just in time for a project of mine. Your work is awesome
Thank you :)
GOSTO MUITO DAS TUAS IDEIAS, BOM MESMO.
Thanks!
So useful. Thank you so much for sharing.
This is good ONLY if your outer portion of shelf has holes. How to build the whole shelf with cardboard? That's what I want to see.
Super buen proyecto gracias
Ty im gonna need this to my room
For my baby dolls
wow look it for sure
Excelente 👍👍👍
Good idea
Is cardboard a reservoir for airplane body material Incase we need quick airplane or drones body
smart work thank you you just saved me a bunch of money
Clever light weight construction might also be of interest for mobile homes or bicycle sleeping trailer where every gram counts.
Also in airplanes.
Super nice
Great Idea !!!!
Quedó perfecto i MUI bonito
Which cardboard you have used ?
Flawless work, bravo.!
Great idea!
Fantastic!
I try so much work on diy things from this material, but most of it wrecked easily.. :(
Well, thank you so much for the idea, you're awesome! ^_^
You've got to start with a good product. Flimsy cardboard will produce a flimsy shelf, but sturdy cardboard will....you get the picture.
Is there measurements for this somewhere that I can find? Absolutely a must to make.
BEAUTIFUL
what's the difference between using polymer adhesive and super glue for cardboard!?
Was the entire unit made from cardboard?
used materials: corrugated cardboard, grey cardboard /beermat paperboard, self adhesive veneer
