I'd love if cruisers and such had like 2 attacks. Like light hitting cruise missiles and a torpedo volley for CLOSE RANGE only. So you can experiment with how to move which ship /combinations around. Like sending ship to tank shots so the light armored cruisers can get within striking distance?? :D Ye i also adore WING COMMANDER (*though this bit was from THE MOVIE)
I hope they include that all that comms chatter in-game. Homeworld and Deserts of Karak had it in and it really added to the immersion factor. Units getting a detailed debrief on their tasking orders and jump points would be so cool to listen to
the sound design is very homeworld esque (down to the bloooop sound it makes when you jump in and out of the strategic command overview) makes me want this REALLY bad
I agree. The com chatter makes the world feel more alive somehow. Communication and passing on information seems such a part of military operations that it feels like it should be there for authenticity sake.

Hey Aelazadne, it was stated from the dev, the ship gets destroyed seconds before the hits occur. If a ship is destroyed, it loses the tag "friendly" and is handled just as an object. You can see blow off panels and after that escape pods leave the Hano destroyer. So as long your ship is alive, other friendly will not shoot it... Of course if a friendly ship is behind an enemy and your shot misses the enemy, it can hit your friendly ship.

This is a weapon of mass destruction. You are not a cowboy shooting from the hip!
Its the RCS thrusters that made me want to buy the game. There are only a handful of sci-fi games where the spaceships actually move like they're supposed to be instead of those unrealistic banked curves which you can't do in space.
Three things I want from this game. 1: The details of the bullet/missle/torpedo impacts and long lasting visual "scars" 2: The PDCs visually tracking things when im zoomed in as they wiz or fly by and watching the trails fire off into distant targets (please increase the fire rate so we see the rounds closer together but they do just ess damage for balance) 3: Adjusting trusters as the trailer showed them but also visible as you maneuver and zoom into your ships I love little details like that, and I genuinely hope this game hits the nail on the head because it seems soo visually detailed already. It's these little things that keep me playing modded homeworld and other space sims/strategy games.

If that's unintentional and you can perhaps enhance the effect it would absolutely make your game stand out! I wishlisted before the trailer had even asked me to. Looking forward to this!
Getting strong Nexus: The jupiter incident vibes along with Homeworld. Even if the gameplay doesn't turn up to be up to par it will be an immersive eye-candy for sure.
Gods... I was horrible at that game, but I miss it's style so damn much! There's literally no other games that do capital class ships justice. I want to hear crew chatter! Comms! Slow manouvers while bringing entire broadsides to bear upon the enemy! Marines reporting their status while launching in shuttles to board the enemy installations! Snub fighters scrambling to escort the marine shuttle! I want proper CAPITAL SHIP games.... q.q
It looks a lot like this is how Imperium Galactica 3 would have played (who's battle engine was used for Nexus and the strategic layer only remained for the briefings). Now we'll get a fully working 4X that also has deep battles. (hopefully without being as obnoxiously clunky and unintuitive as Terra Invica's space battles)

I believe Richmond was already disabled. It looked as though escape pods were being launched and there was a radio message about escape pods shortly there after.

The small thing is missing - ships rotation! It's a space - so it's really fast and helpful to rotate you ship engines to front - for fast speed decreasing. And the rotate your ship via Y axis for better enemy tracking
No ship commander will willingly expose such an important yet poorly armored part of the ship to hostile fire. The whole point is keeping the nose, generally the most armored part, pointed at the enemy to offer the minimum surface area exposed to the enemy.
@@cyborg29x94 Depends on the design actually. From the combat seen here I dare say the front is the worst part to expose to the enemy. Think of it like in the Expanse terms: Mass drivers, solid shot going through a lot more ship if shot from the front. It's why the Donnager took so many fatal wounds, it wasn't expecting small ships to pack mass drivers.

Everything about this feels top notch. The graphics suffice already, gameplay is where its at. One little superficial thing : If the engine plumes would resemble same details we have come to see in Star Citizen or DCS, if the graphics team would level this one thing up just a notch, then it would be spacegasm. Evetry time they fire these nuclear reactors up, i want to see brutal perfection, that moment never gets old, thats why we love it in the expanse.
I sincerily hope the radio chatter stays in the game. It adds such a nice element to the atmosphere. Beautiful music and visuals as well. I can't wait.

Its stuff like "The Expanse" and this that make me appreciate "Star Trek"'s inertia dampeners. Sure, there's nothing as dynamic and realistic about a Galaxy class making high-g turns, and *not* throw the crew into the walls. But then again, humans are not designed to make these trips, so its a artistic take on physics. I'm curious, in the "Falling Frontier", do the ships have artificial gravity? I'm guessing not, with how Newtonian the physics look.
Ok, there is friendly fire, and then there is sloppy targeting. The AI fired despite a friendly ship between the guns and the target. Hopefully that gets fixed because I would be pissed to lose a 2v1 battle because the AI doesn't know how to not shoot friendly units
@@citizen_brimstone3113 I quite like it, makes positioning way more important than just losing out on DPS, or like in most games, "just blob it". Although it would be nice if you could tell them to hold fire on a specific weapon type.
Only gripe I have is that the game being Hard Sci Fi inspired, it doesn't make use of the Z axis for space movement. I imagine starships using ventral and dorsal weapons trying to go over and under their targets much like Homeworld. Other than that looking awesome.
Considering all of the other systems this game will have, including full logistical supply chains for ships and stations, adding in a Z-axis might have made the game a bit too complicated, as if it wasn't complicated enough already.
I've had it wishlisted for almost 2 years now, and been keeping an eye on it for longer than that. It's kinda crazy cause in 2021 they said "Oh no it's delayed until 2022" We're in the 3rd quarter of 2023 and there hasn't even been an official release date, just more TBA 2023 to go along with the TBA 2022 and TBA 2021 from previous years. I get that I can't even begin to imagine how difficult it is to make a game, but if even a fraction of the people waiting for this game are like me then the allure is starting to fade, the end product is starting to seem like it can't possibly live up to almost 2 years (and let's be honest, probably gonna be 3 years or more) of waiting and expecting. I'm still excited for it, just not nearly so exited as I was 2 years ago.

This was all really cool, but then we get to the end of the video, and that pull back from the individual dueling ships all the way out to the view of the entire Saturnian system was jaw-dropping.

Only gripe I have is that the game being Hard Sci Fi inspired, it doesn't make use of the Z axis for space movement. I imagine starships using ventral and dorsal weapons trying to go over and under their targets much like Homeworld. Other than that looking awesome.
Considering all of the other systems this game will have, including full logistical supply chains for ships and stations, adding in a Z-axis might have made the game a bit too complicated, as if it wasn't complicated enough already.
Sounds are very well implemented.
I've had it wishlisted for almost 2 years now, and been keeping an eye on it for longer than that. It's kinda crazy cause in 2021 they said "Oh no it's delayed until 2022" We're in the 3rd quarter of 2023 and there hasn't even been an official release date, just more TBA 2023 to go along with the TBA 2022 and TBA 2021 from previous years.
I get that I can't even begin to imagine how difficult it is to make a game, but if even a fraction of the people waiting for this game are like me then the allure is starting to fade, the end product is starting to seem like it can't possibly live up to almost 2 years (and let's be honest, probably gonna be 3 years or more) of waiting and expecting.
I'm still excited for it, just not nearly so exited as I was 2 years ago.
I removed it from my wishlist quite a while ago since I'm always waiting for months for new updates
Something like a demo would be nice to play just to get my hands on the game and get a first feel of it

This was all really cool, but then we get to the end of the video, and that pull back from the individual dueling ships all the way out to the view of the entire Saturnian system was jaw-dropping.
It's been on my wishlist for a long while now... and I think I'm gonna keep it there
this game looks very epic for older gamers. a tense artillery battle between two ships, tense music, slow paced action, good explosion effects from hits, strategy. Cant wait to play it
