Planning a holiday to Fuerteventura? This video is our experience of visiting Corralejo in July 2020 to show you what to expect. Many shops, bars and restaurants are already open, with more due to reopen by the end of the month.
We start at Campanario Shopping Centre, where the markets have now reopened. Afterwards we head into town and give you an update on what is open on the main strip in Corralejo. Most shops have generous sales on at the moment to encourage people to spend. We take you around the Old Town area and Town Beach before stopping for lunch at El Patio Andaluz. Our lunch for 2 was €28 + tip which we felt was good value for the food and service we received. The tortilla at Gilda remains our firm favourite but the tapas at El Patio was fresh, tasty and there was a varied menu. We would like to try their Menu de Dia next which looks like a bargain!
We visit Music Square, see the new tiles dedicated to Nuestra Senora del Carmen 'Our Lady of Carmen' (sometimes referred to as Virgen del Carmen) and talk about Fiesta del Carmen which sadly won't take place this year but usually happens annually on 16th July.
We finish our day off with gelato from El Gusto (don't miss it!) before taking a walk along the beach and visiting Galera Beach Club.

Favourite restaurant is the Avenida on Calle Pizarro. Favourite Bar, which is frequented by the locals, is Bar la Hubara on the same street. Are these places open yet?
So many favourites - Bouganville Bar, Retro and Cafe Blanco are my top 3. I'm hoping they are open when we get there in 6 weeks. Thanks for sharing, I've enjoyed your videos - it's nice to see the resort come back to life.
Bars Bougainville ,katus ,blue rock, cantante, restaurants meson las Tejas, avienedis, pepperoni all superb in there different ways 👌 and I've been coming for more 20years enjoy stay safe

Hi ladies, was in corralejo Feb last year and enjoyed it. Stayed in the oasis village so campanario was on our doorstep... The Cuban bar in the centre was great for tapas but towards the far end to the right was a restaurat great for an evening meal and had live music outside... right opposite the entrance to car park and toilets

Thankyou for your regular updates. We love the Blues Bar early morning English b/fast great ,in the evenings it nice to either watch the world go by ,or visit when it is Live music night. The Blues Bar staff are really nice girls ,just like our 2 update reporters . I have really enjoyed the videos .Many Thank . Oh we are back to hotel Tahoma in March 2021. Thanks again.

Thanks Amelia so much love watching your videos with Sarah. We adore fuerteventura. We have been coming 10 years. We even found a villa to live permanently in but my husband became ill and we had to cancel it all 😪. So we come every year in june for our holiday but was cancelled this june booked for next year tho. Hopefully we can come then . Restaurante La Marquesina is the best place foe seafood we have a few favourites in Corralejo we have been a few time and now we have family living in Fuerteventura it makes it so much easier to get away. We visited just before lockdown and we are heading back in a few weeks for another visit

Have been told of a smaller venue 2 doors up from Gin bar in Music Square which is said to have beautiful food. We will try it out and let you know. Keep up the great reports

Thanks both! Sounds like Bombay Masala? In which case it’s always very highly reviewed. We tend to go out for a curry a little closer to home and go for seafood or tapas in Corralejo but maybe we should change that up.

Hi ladies, just watched this one. Only ever bussed it to the ferry port to Lanzarote, where we stayed in the marina in Playa Blanca for our silver wedding anniversary. Really appreciate you two and JP for showing us round Corralejo. Might try a few days here at some point in the next couple of years. Still love Caleta though!

@Amelia what is the current situation with wearing masks? Are we to wear them while walking out on the main strips/streets along within the shops?
Either way I don't mind. Its just to keep everyone safe. I am just wondering for our jollys in a few weeks.
Hi Christina, masks are not required on the street provided you maintain 1.5m distance from people not in your group. They are mandatory in shops, shopping centres and on public transport. Although you don’t need to wear one in bars or restaurants some may ask you to put one on to go inside and use the toilet. The important thing is to have one in your possession at all times. Rules apply to everyone aged 6+ unless they are medically exempt

Yes, the beaches are open and have been for a couple of months now. I’m not sure which restaurant you mean? There were 2, now just 1. I believe Chiringuito has reopened. The other one was called La Tasca but that sadly closed in late 2018.

Do you know the tiny little jewellery shop near the market square? Ive spent many hours sitting in there chatting with the lovely owner. This is bliss for my soul. Gracias.

Hi Amelia, super useful videos! We're thinking of coming to Correlejo in Nov for a few months. We'll need to work while we're out there, and I just wanted to ask what the internet speeds are generally like. Did you do any video calls and did you have any issues? Thanks!
We use Vodafone 4G for all of our internet use (both UK and Spanish sims) and get 40-50Mbps down and around 4Mbps up. There will be some places in Corralejo with fibre which will give you similar speeds, certainly enough for video calls 👍
Great video girls only ever visited for the day on 3 occasions but you went to some of my favourite places, our first ever stop was at the Campanario centre where we enjoyed live music with our lunchtime refreshments near the fountain. Last year on our trip from Playa Blanca we climbed the clock tower in Campanario (thanks to JP video) fantastic views, some lovely shops there. Love the Galera beach bar again live music in the afternoon. We really enjoyed our meal at El Anzuelo near harbour, perfect setting on the seafront...aaah memories 🙂 thank you.

Fav restaurant has to be rompellos followed by the small Italian restaurant in the campanario it’s 2 doors down from board riders not sure if it’s still there.food to die for service second to none and amazingly friendly staff....great memories
3 Calici? If so, it’s still there and has reopened 👍 Despite our best intentions we’ve still not eaten at Rompeolas. Must put that right soon!
We’ve been going to La Tahona for the last 10 years or so and made good friends with a good few of the staff there, the steak Diane is to die for should the pair of you get the chance, a very friendly and warm place to eat

Hi, Oasis Park reopens on 1st August. No need to buy tickets in advance but if you’re planning on using the free bus I’d double check the website for the times incase they’ve changed. Have a great holiday! 👍

Thanks for watching. Bristol Playa is currently closed and they appear to have started a refurb. Booking is not available through their own website until 1st Feb 2021 so I would contact who you booked through to find out what your options are.

Definitely! Don’t get caught out with the slight breeze and occasional cloud cover either. The UV index is often high in September and you’ll burn quickly if you don’t apply enough sun cream 🦞😀

Hi Amelia and Sarah, i went to rock café on the corralejo strip with live music which i enjoyed and also poco loco was good, Anywhere that sells chocolate orange ice cream is a winner with me so if you find any in fuertaventura let me know!!.
I can’t remember if El Gusto does a chocolate orange flavour. They did have an orange flavour and their chocolate one is amazing, so scoop of each and jobs a goodun’! 😀🍦 Sleep the calories off on the beach 😂
Great video once again thank you. Its funny that our first hotel we ever stayed in was playa Park and was our first ever trip to the island in 2004 and then we went back to the same hotel the year after for our honeymoon . Take care girls Kirsty 👧

Hey hope you’re both well? I’m hearing a lot of reports back in England that Spain have seen a rise in COVID infections and would this effect coming to the Canary Islands?
Nothing has changed here with regards to tourism Terry. UNWTO visited the Canary Islands and recognised the islands safe and responsible restart of tourism. The rules here remain the same, if everyone continues to follow them then it will minimise the risk as much as is possible
I so,so can’t wait to get out and get some sun,sun. What’s the best restaurant out there? Hopefully when I’m over I can say hi!

Amelia I read it's compulsory to wear masks on the street again and might be another lock down in September, is this true ?

Hi both, the rules regarding masks haven’t changed. As each area are now responsible for their own rules it was rumoured last week Canaries may follow Balearics & Andalucia in making mask compulsory but that wasn’t the case. The news did come with a warning however that people must comply with the current rules in order to avoid further restrictions. At the moment there doesn’t appear to be any threat of a local lockdown here, the numbers wouldn’t justify it. There are currently 8 cases in home isolation. We also have 23 migrants who are positive and quarantined in a warehouse in Puerto del Rosario. The local government are not including them in the community figures as they have been held and isolated since being rescued at sea. There are 0 hospitalised and 0 deaths so still doing very well here and so far despite tourism being back 4 weeks, no cases have been linked to tourists 🤞
I was supposed to be there now but unfortunately couldn't go because of everything that has gone on with covid ect, this video has made me want to be there desperately,

So many places! Don’t worry, you can avoid the seafood 😂 I hear Clarkie’s is very good in Corralejo. Around €10-15 for a proper Sunday roast

Thank you ladies for another quality video, wow I know things are a lot different (what with covid19) but Corralejo looks REALLY dead. Never been to that part of the island but I've not seen anything that make me want to visit there tbh!, I'll stick with caleta de fuste much more our scene, roll on Sept for a fortnight, I'm in need of some serious chill out :)
I think being a larger resort it’s noticeably quieter up there, particularly on the strip. Some people definitely seem to prefer one resort over the other, great thing about the island is that’s there’s something for everyone I think 👍
