Thanks for the link giving discount ! Questions re battery - 1) should you run till empty before charging ? 2) can you overcharge (ie if you forget you’ve left it charging) 3) is it best to store battery indoors during winter (ie will kept in cold shed affect it) ?
Hi Rob 1. No, you can charge from any point. 2. No, the charger will not allow this to happen. 3. Batteries can be stored outside during winter as winter as long as the temperature doesn't drop below 10 degrees c. Cold (not extreme) temperatures do not have any affect on the batteries performance / lifespan. Batteries should also be stored over winter with around 30% charge capacity. Hope this helps Mark
Hi, Great review. Can you confirm that the deck is plastic apart from the blade. I currently have a 160 cc 2T cast aluminium deckn46 cm Victa that has given me 20 years of service & still going strong but as I get older a cordless mower does seem a sensible option. Just want to be sure that this Gtech will not suffer from a rusted steel deck?
Hi Andy, thanks for your message. I can confirm that the deck of the Gtech Cordless mower is indeed polypropylene, and therefore will not rust. Just to let you know that this mower is currently on offer, there is a 40% discount code on the URL below - (biggest discount Gtech has ever offered). easylawnmowing.co.uk/the-gtech-cordless-lawnmower-2-0/ Hope this helps. Hi Mohammed, Gtech do not do a self propelled version on this model. Please see the link below to an EGO self propeller cordless battery mower. There is a link below that video that breaks down the costs of the battery compared to a petrol mower over a 5 year period. ruclips.net/video/ne_kBHsRN_8/видео.html Hope that helps. Mark
Hi Steve Yes the lowest height setting is 3 cm on this Gtech mower. Yes it would have been nice to be able to go down to 2 cm, but having said that I do normally cut at 3 cm to keep the grass green and healthy. If you are going to cut at 2 cm you really need to ensure your lawn is flat with no bumps to avoid scalping. Thanks Mark
Great review thanks. Having just received mine today I was in awe at the way you managed to fit the side clamps with such ease! I watched that bit of your video over and over again to see if there was anything I had missed, but it seems not. The top part of the handle was sprung out too far for the clamps ever to close without popping out. In the end I had to apply brute force to the "legs" of the upper handle to bend them inwards enough so I could close the clamps properly. Perhaps quality control in production is not all it should be. Oh and by the way, my clamps face downwards as in all the documentation, but I noticed you have yours facing upwards. I don't suppose it makes any difference. Another point is that when unboxing, your upper handle came detached, whereas with mine it was attached to the lower part with the clamps on the inside (for packing purposes). Anyway, once I had everything finally assembled, I tried it out on a small patch of lawn and was very impressed with its performance and quietness, compared with my corded Bosch. I've put it away for now as it's far too hot to do the rest!
Hi Jeff Thanks so much for your feedback. Yes the handles can be tricky to say the least, you need another hand to help! This is the same with most of the mowers I have tested but some more than others. It's great to hear you are pleased with the Gtech mower. Thanks again for sharing your experience. Mark
Hi Gary, unfortunately I do not have this mower anymore, but if I remember correctly you need a ratchet set to remove the central bolt. You will need to lock off the blade from turning, I normally use a block of wood. Just had a look in the manual and yes it doesn't give any specific instructions. Please let me know how you get on. Mark
I would just like mention of its ability to mulch the grass rather than collect in grass box. I live in the heathland of Suffolk, very dry and therefore mulching helps preserve the lawn and retain moisture. Other comment....excellent review.ta Barry D
Hi Ranjit, thanks very much for your message. I will try to add more detailed assembly in my future videos. If you have any questions regarding the assembly of this particular mower, please let me know and I will help. Thanks again, Mark
One other reviewer commented on the height of the handles as there not adjustable for height. He was 5’ 6”. Any views. Also is a push lawn mower or self propelled. Thanks.
Hi Ulster - Thanks for your comment. No the bars cannot be adjusted like the old Gtech mower, but I found them to be comfortable for my height 178 cm. Also, this a push mower NOT self propelled. Many thanks - Mark
EasyLawnMowing . I ordered one and generally I am very happy with performance. Specially it’s light weight and therefore ease of use. I do feel the minimum cut (30mm) could be lower as this is not as low as the Petrol Rover it replaced.
Thanks for the detailed info. I am looking to purchase a cordless lawnmower. I have a 50 sq m lawn. Would you recommend Bosch Rotak 34 Li or GTech 2.0 or an alternative around the same price?
Thanks for your comments. The Gtech maybe a little bit too big for a 50 sq m lawn. You may want to have a look at the WORX WG779E.2 - link to full review below easylawnmowing.co.uk/worx-wg779e-2-cordless-lawn-mower/ It is a more compact cordless mower that would be more suitable for your lawn size. I am currently using this mower myself in a similar sized garden and find it performs well and simply just gets the job done. You can use the battery in other WORX tools as well. Hope this helps Mark
Hi Beverly, I can't see there being a problem, however you will have to ensure that you cut on a slightly higher setting to avoid scalping the bumps. This will be the same issue with most mowers. There are some groves on the front of this mower that will act like an anti-scalping plate but you will still need to be careful not to have the mower set too low. The wheels on the Gtech mower are slightly wider than most I have tested, again this will help with stability on the uneven surface. Let me know how you get on. Thanks Mark
Hi Tony. No that does not happen with my mower. It may be worth giving Gtech a call to see what’s happening. Please let me know how you get on. Thanks. Mark.
I bought one at the end of last year and although it’s easy to use the mower cuts out regularly, and does not have much power to give a low cut . When you did the cut in the park what was the height setting and presumably the grass was very dry ?
Hi Tony - sorry for the delay in replying - Over the park it was on the highest setting 80mm and yes the conditions were dry. Hope that helps. Thanks Mark
Hi Luc, thanks for your question. the run time is up to 40min, meaning it really depends on the condition and length of the grass you are cutting. When I was cutting my lawn I got about 30 mins run time, but I cut regularly. The great advantage of this mower is that it adjusts the power according to the demand of the grass condition (length, thickness, damp). Thanks Mark
EasyLawnMowing that must be quite a pain if you have a large garden. They should supply spare batteries so you don’t have to wait an hour to keep mowing
@@Mes799 It is a pain. I tried today, and took me longer than my old mains mower. Battery ran out two thirds way through, so I had to wait for it to recharge. I thought I might order a spare, but they're £160!
Hi Paul I just pulled my Gtech out of the shed to take a look at what could be happening. Make sure you lift the flap fully up before trying to attach the box as it may catch if not. Also, make sure the cloth sides of the grass collection box are clipped into the metal frame fully as it looks like this may also make a little tricky to attach. Also the plastic flap on the box should slide inside the mower, if this has been bent it be catching as you drop the box. If you email me directly (info@easylawnmowing.co.uk) I can send you some photos or even a short video showing the above suggestions. Let us know how you get on. My lawnmower has arrived with the locking handles on the inside of the handle assembly and there is no way the lever will lock. How do I remove the locking arrangement to refit on the other side of the handle. Have tried to contact gtech by email and phone no response after 24 hours.
Hi Arnold, thanks for your message. I believe you will need to turn (unscrew) the locking lever anticlockwise to undo, before trying to open the lever. Please try this and let me know how it goes. Thanks Mark
