You don't need 2 functional keys to do this. You need 1 working key that's of course already programmed to the vehicle. You need FORscan with the advanced access subscription.
Listen I worked in IT for 40years AND i NEVER PAID FOR s/w EVER. But I can see this FORSCAN S/W was probably built by a couple of guys in the spare time on the weekend. It's worth buying, as without it, you're mucking around in the dark. The lifetime warranty isn't that expensive compared to real key programming software. So just do it and know it will work when ever you want it too, and as long as you own the vehicle. If I got stuck at some camp ground, or at some customer site and needed to pay for a tow, I wouldn't have cared about the cost of getting the van going again, I can tell you that.
I appreciate the video you did, I bought the Ford OEM remote start that came with two keys for my used 2013 F150. The second key from the remote start kit will start the vehicle but not lock/unlock it. The dealer speculated that I exceeded the key limit and recommended coming in to have them erase and program the keys. When I purchased this truck, it only came with one key ( w/3 button fob). I went to my local Ace hardware store to have them add another key so I would have two keys to program the remote start keys within the kit. I have the two-month free trial of Forscan; would using the PATS programming enable me to erase all keys and program the 4 keys (2 w/3 button fob and 2 with 4 button fob) I own?
FYI on my 2017 Ford Expedition i had 4 keys programmed. 1 master (lost) and I by error programed the other master as a mykey, please 2 other mykeys. So I basically had 3 mykeys and 1 lost master key. I erased them all and then was able to program 4 new master keys from the menu. I did not have to have a master key to program them. The Forscan was able to do it. I had to restart the program and go through the reprogram 10 min. wait each time but eventually got it done.
Thanks for this, nice tight edit and clear, succinct explanation (not all are well explained) AND you advocated for buying the software. I'm yet to purchase the software BUT for ~$20 the software developers deserve some payment for their work AND for saing me $$ on getting spare keys programmed
Great video. I do need a bit of help tho, i only had one key fob for my ford kuga so i bought the second one ( same code) but the second one doesnt react at all. When i tried to do the pats programing it says it failed. Can you please help me to sort this out
I need a one old and one new key solution. Only one key came with my truck. Bought a used fob and had the key cut. The key goes into the ignition and turns but an error say s there is no key. Going to locksmith to get second key programmed.
Can I simply program two new keys and leave my original key alone? I added remote start to my 2013 F150 by adding the antenna, and then enabled remote start in the body control module, and the cluster, I just need to program the two keys that came with the remote start.

I figured this out. You need to insert the new key, open door, press unlock button, leave door open, cycle key 8 times ending in run position. When locks cycle, press button on fob, locks will cycle again. Fob is programmed.
Do you need two FUNCTIONAL keys for this to work? One of my two oem keys stopped working, it won't start the truck. I would hate to leave myself stranded if I attempt to reprogram the keys but the other one is still malfunctioning. The battery in the fob has been replaced. Thanks
No. You need FORscan, a ELM327 OBD2 dongle, and lots of time. It took me about 15 minutes per key to program new keys for my Taurus this afternoon. In order to do this type of programming you'll have to pay a $12 fee for Advanced access in FORscan that allows you to make additional keys, but as long as you have 1 key you can make additional keys.
Hi, do you have a license for the program? Sometimes it is either an issue with that, or it could be the cable you are using to connect to the vehicle. In order to get into PATs you will need the full license
@@nodakviking i have a 2month licence and i can get pats,only trouble is i cant get hold of a key cutter as they are very busy ,i see you have got the 2.3.42, i have the 2.3.47 any different in using this release at all,there is one more thing as well,my immobillizer light flashes,when i eventually get the car to behave itself it goes off,i need 2keys anyway its no good because when you have to turn key off it will take a few minutes,tried it but when turning key back on, the immobillizer flashes again,lastly when i went on pats for the first time,its taken my clutch operation away,now even when the immobillizer goes out i cant start car,i could before,this forscan has been trouble,is there anymore software out there you could use-----sorry about all the explaining but the care is my life
Hi, it normal that my car Mondeo MK3 does not accept even that another key turn it? I means even to position 1. Five years ago, i program two key by the method that u know. I means turn it from position 1 to 4 fast, after bip sound, then i press another keys. Does key can open the car and close it, but they can't start the car. Even to turn in ignition, that can't turn. I have Forscan, but i am Afraid to erase the only key that start the can.

This programs the key so that it can turn the ignition on, but does this procedure also program the key fob buttons of the key?
If you are replacing the PCM with a pre-programmed PCM, do you need to perform module initialization to program keys?

It could be, but the program is, as far as I know, for ford. I know a lot of Mazdas are identical but I do not know if the programming is different
