NBA Live characters looks good, but the bodies are disproportionate. So 2K18 takes the character models. NBA Live 18's courts though! They look way better than 2K18. Gameplay goes to 2K. But Live 18's controls are way more accessible

Wow, it is absolutely amazing how much more realistic the players shown of NBA Live look. The NBA Live players look almost exactly like their real life counterparts, yet the same 2k players shown look a lot different than their real life counterparts. You can especially see it in the face and eyes. I remember a time when NBA Live couldn't compare to 2k, but it seems as though the tide has turned.
It actually doesn't, it is a stiff animated stiff looking characters game. 2K is more animated than ever before now, so the graphics changed to fit the look. Go see 2K17 it kills Live 18 in every aspect of graphics.
For one, the colour grading is more pleasing to the eye for me. The blue/green tint on 2K18 puts me off, even if the actual graphical fidelity is better on that one.

"Better graphics" is subjective. They both look good dammit. Two different games, with different gameplay mechanics and certainly different art styles. EA Sports has always strived for photo-realism while 2K graphics uses more of a cell shading concept. Both do well at what they do. Really just boils down to preference and player likeness accuracy.

Lol. That game won't be bought by gamestop at this point for no more than $25 now. Sad. You're out $125.
2k uses Canned animations, which controls player movement. It also restricts what they can do. Live is an engine that allows for free movements. You cannot control free moving animations, they can be tighter. Patches can make them tighter. GTA had the same issue with crazy player movement at times. Frostbite engine will make animations better.
The lighting and textures in Live 18 are years ahead of 2k18. The 2k players look like wax models, the textures on the clothes (or lack of) are poor. 2k’s arena look like they’re lit by a single source of light whereas Live 18 actually looks like there’s multiple light sources in the arena.
Sorry but shinier doesn't mean better. 2K still looks to be the most accurate to reality. It has blurrier textures that's true; and the lighting effects aren't that bombastic as they used to be, especially in the Jerseys. But the proportion of body types, and most especially the facial accuracy still speak to me that 2K is the more faithful one to the sport they're translating to video game form.

I have both live and 2k18.. The animations and feel when you play arr so much better and natural on 2k18. When I played live 18 it feels so stiff to control the players. I know it looks more realistic than 2k18 also but I still prefer the 2k18 graphics, the graphics just look much eye pleasing.

Live has ALWAYS had a better lighting engine going back to Live 08. Though, the Live screens here are polished PR images. Look at any gameplay clips on RUclips; in-game engine screens are nowhere near that polished or have depth-of-field effects.

Live seems like a actual game of basketball and the lighting is phenomenal compared to 2k18 but, the graphics were superior to live like always.

If 2k changed the damn horrible lighting they have this year 2k would look better but there is no depth in any of the players or the jerseys. Everything looks flat.
Instead of 2k focusing on graphics they actually focus on ANIMATIONS, GAME MODES, ETC. The only way Live is going to beat 2k is add what 2k don’t have like online all star game modes or something cuz Tbh graphics not gonna matter in the next 20 days or less you been playing the games since you are going to get use to the graphics

Live looks so much better. 2k looks like it has the last few years. Live is finally catching up and I almost think it's going to surpass 2k series next year.
