They had a 20% off all generators and I picked this one up for $375 including tax. I had to take the first one back because right out of the box it had loose screws or bolts rattling around inside it. No problem exchanging it for a different one which I opened and inspected at the store before leaving and there were no loose parts in the new one. After putting oil and gas in it, I let it run for a half hour and tested the outlets for power. Everything worked and it is very quiet compared to a conventional generator. To me it sounded more quiet than a vacuum cleaner.
Howdy! 1) I LOVE you using blue tape to log hours of use. I'm slapping it on mine after this review. 2) Big difference of Generac over the Predator 1400 is warranty. Predator is miserly 90 days vs. Generac 2 or 3 years. 3) I'm still comfy with the Predator I just bought. Research shows the Predator cloned a lot of Honda patents that expired. A lot of the parts are interchangeable. 4) Thankx!
I’ve been kicking around the idea of getting one of these for my homemade truck bed camper/cabin it would only power a TV DVD player, a single light,a heater, if I’m not using the wood stove, and charging my RC car batteries when we are out at the campsite
I'm looking at these for my camper. If I hooked it up to the camper's main power supply, (30 amp 3-prong plug), and only powered a couple 12volt lights, the 12volt fridge, and to keep the 12volt battery charged, would this be able to handle that? My concern is any voltage drop from the thick, long camper's cable.
Funny enough, that’s exactly what I’ve been doing with it this summer. Need to do another update, have way more hours on it now. I have a 20FT travel trailer, just got the plug adapter and do exactly as you asked. The main fridge, water pump, charge up the deep cycle marine battery and a few lights and it does it no problem. I have an outdoor fridge too and when I pop that on the generator does like it so just run the bigger indoor fridge.
@@mastersergeant8672I plug a 12 gauge extension cord into the generator then plug the adapter onto that and then the main RV power plug into the other end of the adapter. The adapter doesn’t fit well connecting right to the generator hence using the extension cord….this way I can keep the generator further away as well so all works out. Here is the adapter: a.co/d/gdr5my6
It might sound backwards, but the thicker the cable is, the less power loss you’ll experience because there’s less resistance. Also, read the labels carefully on any extension cords you buy. You want to get the ones that are completely copper, not copper clad aluminum. Aluminum cables are not as efficient at transferring power as copper cables. There’s a definite cost difference, but it’s definitely worth it
I'm hoping to find where access to the valves is. I'm working on one that is used every weekend for a neighbor, and it is past time to adjust them. All I can find is reviews and unboxings. I saw "Long Term Review" and was hoping that you really meant long term. Thanks for the video. Have a great day!
@@gwheel3502 You aren't kidding, either. Then you have to bend the heat shield out somewhat. I got it done but don't really want to do it again. Getting everything back in place was even harder than taking it apart.
Believe it or not, they use the same motor 50cc Chinese. Also, that Generac is not 1200 running watts, it is 1000. Close. I have one. No complaints so far. I also have a Predator 3500 and it may sound odd, but this little 1100watt (1400 start) generator is a little noisier than the larger 3500watt inverter model.
Hmm no I’ve had pretty good luck with it at idle, but I only let it idle maybe 2 minutes before I put a load on it….haven’t had it just running for any long periods of time. My understanding is you don’t want to let it run without a load on it for too long, but I’ve also heard for gas generators it’s fine and that rule is more for larger diesel generators.
According to HF it’ll burn .65 gallons in 7 hours on 25% load. Most people I would think would be using it at over 1/2 load so maybe 4-5 hours on a single tank? I’ll run my AC on it this summer for a long period of time and see how she does.
You’re right, No I don’t, but at the time of that video that generator had only been available to purchase for 9 months….I’ll do another, better video at some point.
You ran at 8 hours. Dude I'm living in a motorhome and I've been using mine roughly 8,000 hours. I believe the valve just went on it. It makes an air sound coming out of it from the muffler
@@pinkiepie1656 It sounds louder in this video than in real life. It's not silent but quiet enough to run in a campground with others around. If you had it outside your vehicle you'd barely hear it. It wouldn't keep you up at night.
I assure you it is super quiet ... I use this exact model to run my Craft tent at festivals. Awesome to know it will run a 5000 btu ... I also have the 2000 model for that.

You got a nice discount on it, I agree that’s a good way to describe the noise, low vaccum

Definitely a perfect option for that, I need to do an update to this video as I have far more hours on it now. Still been great, 0 issues.

I put an hour/tachometer on my 2000. Can kinda tell about how long it’ll run by rpm once you is it enough
Interesting how the generac looks almost exactly like the predator and honestly states correct inverter numbers. Could possibly be the exact same

It’s probably that the smaller one emits a higher pitch noise.
I don’t own a generator. Now you’re making me want one haha. It’s not a Honda but nice
Can this run a ac window unit 5000 btu?
Yes, I have an LG 5000BTU unit and it runs it.
I’m trying to find a generator to run my mobile DJ setup. It’s 2 kinda big speakers, laptop, and Dj controller. Do you think this one can run it? 🔊
I would go with the bigger 2200 watt harbor freight generator then there is no doubt you’ll have the power.
When not on load and just idling does yours “shutter” every couple minutes? Just almost missfires for a second or two and settles out.

Try draining the float bowl. My Onan needs this done on a frequent basis
