I own a coffee truck and have been in business for just over two years so I am watching this and just feeling so much of what you're saying. I run things a little different than what it looks like you do, but I have done events that I thought would be gold and have been an absolute bust and then have also had days where I thought I might crash the truck on the way home because I was so fried. I feel like unless you are in a similar situation it is so hard for people to understand the roller coaster that owning a food truck/small business is. Good luck and keep it up!
Thank you! The best part of sharing this process have been connecting with others who understand the highs and lows it is so much different from any other type of business! So fun, but very demanding!
what espresso machine would you reccomend for a small coffee cart? under 5k. a machine that can handle at least 150ppl. i also offer tea, cold brew coffee as well. so it won't be all espresso shots.
We have a vintage trailer as a coffee cart as well. We also have a brick and mortar coffeehouse but the trailer can bring in just as much (if not more) in sales than the actual coffeehouse at farmer's markets and things like that. The hardest thing for us is being able to stock enough milks, ice and beverages. We have an espresso machine but we also sell iced coffee, cold brew, iced tea and more. It is a ton of work, but once you get it set up and get used to it you can make a lot of money and it is fun! Love your setup and trailer! Great video!
Thank you! The trailer is more set-up work, but also has such low overhead that I have been super picky about brick and mortar spaces. I definitely feel your pain on having the space to keep things stocked - we found a place we can stay plugged in (no generator use) which has saved me a lot of time in the mornings not having to re-load our fridge. It's always great connecting with people in the same space. What is your business name? I would love to check it out!
Only 3:22 into your video and I already know that I'm going to love it. You are relaxed, you're not yelling, and you talk slow, not rushing through, which is good because I'm a "slow" listener. I like to picture in my mind what you're saying and how to make it work for me. Also, which is just as important, you take your time explaining even the little things or things I've never even thought about. Like the inspections. *NEW SUBSCRIBER!!*
I love your videos I just found you driving home from work lol I wish you all the success in the world and I believe you can pull it off, I'm about to To start my own adventure myself! God-bless and may the creator continue to bless your business
I have that same predator 9500 super quiet inverter generator for my coffee truck. At Home Depot or a similar store you can get a metal ramp kit for like $25 that screws onto large 2x8 boards that you can get about 10 feet long. You can then line them up on the back of your truck at not such a steep incline so you could do it by yourself. I’m in the process of making a long video to explain the ins and outs of the entire process of my coffee truck.
Thank you so much for sharing! I'll keep an eye on your channel for that video it would be great to set up/take down alone (and a ramp would surely save my back lol)!
@@haileypolidori5824 you’re very welcome! I’ve learned a lot from watching your videos. Thank you very much for all the work you put into them and sharing with all of us. Thank you also for subscribing to my channel and hopefully some of my videos will be helpful and enjoyable for you! 😊
I loved this video! I'm thinking of doing the same thing in a few years, currently I'm a college student studying business. Thank you for posting! Its very helpful content!
I've been in the process of converting a cargo trailer to an itty bitty cotton candy trailer. I mounted my generator in a tongue mounted locked box. They are pricey but worth every penny to not have to move my generator again, ever! You could put yours into a dog travel cage to keep it secure and mostly out of the elements. They are very reasonably priced.
I Have been watching you for awhile and think you do an amazing job explaining how the business works, being unique and detailed. I am currently getting my camper built to start my coffee business.I cant say Thank you enough for your help😊
I am interested in this type of business been working as server for over 20 years thinking to buy one of those i can see myself running one of those great video by the way clean and neat truck served with passion
I think what you’re doing is amazing, it’s inspired me to buy a camper as well! I’m trying to figure out how to sell coffee from state to state and a licensee is involved in that as you’re traveling. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. I am picking up my camper this weekend.
Each state has a different licensing process and fee, so you would most likely need to get inspected/permits for each state. I know some have options for traveling vendors, but you would need to reach out to each county's health department before popping up to check their regulations/pay the fees. I know some trucks get inspected and licensed in two different states so they do summers in one place and winters in another. Hope this helps!
Love this video, so inspiring. Alternatively, or, in addition, how would you go about finding a place to station the coffee trailer at a certain spot on a regular schedule? I’m considering doing this as well, and would be doing it by myself.
Get involved with your community and reach out to local businesses! If you can find a space that would benefit from you being there to serve coffee that is always helpful. Try to partner with another business and use their lot (maybe offer them a fee for using the space). It takes a few tries, but don't be scared to ask around!
Hello again Hailey, could you please make a detailed video of how you found coffee roasters and your selection process. I was able to see from your video who your supplier is, but i would love to know how you ended up choosing them and what it means to be a wholesaler for them. It is also super cool that they show your business as a partner in their website!
I worked as a barista for years before starting my own business. It's the best way to learn and pickup on things you wouldn't notice without experience in the industry/could save you lots of money & headache!
Hey Hailey. This is pretty cool. I want to start small and do the coffee cart for a few years before I move to this level. Can you share your supply list, and potential links? I see yu have some here, but want to make sure I'm no missing anything

Just wondering if you were planning on expanding your offerings or are your content with what you're offering now? I am asking because i am planning to start a coffee trailer but wanting to buy a trailer big enough to expand. What are your thoughts on my buying big up front in the case i do want to expand later.
I’m happy with our offerings now. A two group has been plenty big for us to serve efficiently. It can get a little tight in the trailer, but if we had a larger one it would limit the spaces we could fit in/be harder to navigate events. We don’t offer food (aside from baked goods we get from a local baker) so if you want to cook you’d probably want more space. A larger fridge would be nice too, but we make it work!
Hi Hailey love your set up! I'm starting a coffee truck out of my 1969 P10 Stevan. my question for you is, do you run a ac unit during the summer months? second question ive seen the predator Generator you use, will it run the Ac unit while your operating? Also for ICE, are you keeping ice in a cooler or are you running a small ice maker?
We do not have an AC unit - it would push us over our power limit with the generator we use. We just use a few fans and keep the windows open. As for ice we buy it before every event and keep it in a cooler :)
Every event we do we have to have access to a public restroom for our customers. We typically partner with local businesses or use public restrooms at farmers markets/festivals. When I am alone it is usually only for 4 hours at a time so it's no big deal. My fiance usually isn't too far away if I need a break though.
hi great video, i was wondering what and how many syrups you keep on board? so i can get it out of my head that i need every flavor out there lol. thank you..

We haven't run into any issues powering the espresso machine with our generator. There are limits to how much other equipment we can have running at the same time, but if you total up all of your wattage before adding additional equipment there shouldn't be an issue!
My cousin actually made it for me on her cricket! If you know someone local who has one they should be able to make one up for you. So far mine has held up great!
@@berniemac8413 This one was 5k and was a rebuild. If you go that route I would make sure a technician you trust did the work. Ours came with quite a few surprises/expenses along the way. Thankfully we found some local techs that have been super helpful!
