Not sure why, but these guys keep dying on me in my tank. Usually, sometime during the morning when the lights are off. Pretty frustrating. LFS has always told me these fish will adapt PH perimeters. My water perimeters are 0 ppm Ammonia 0 ppm Nitrite 30 ppm Nitrate PH around 8.0-8.2 30 Gallon tank with medium size gravel rocks and artificial plants. My tank has been cycled for 6 months now. Is it the PH? Please help.
Do they stay primarily towards the bottom and middle of the tank? I have an African Butterfly Fish that I need to either put in the larger tank (w/rummynose) so I can continue with my minnow tank or I need to discontinue the minnow tank to put together a larger tank of African predators for the African Butterfly Fish. So far he has only eaten zebra danios, which frequent the top of the tank. He hasn't bothered the cherry barb or yellow barb which stay in the middle of the water column or below. I could easily remove the African Butterfly Fish if he does nab any as I keep a quarantine tank below the 55G. Wondering if I should try the butterfly fish in the big community tank.
I'm looking to have 9 rummy nose, 5 neons, and 9 glowlights (tetras) in a 20 gallon tall mid to heavy planted tank. Will that be okay in your opinion? Thank you
Pretty sure these fish, especially these fish, are NOT to be used to cycle a tank. They are extremely sensitive to poor water quality and lower ph is important.
These fish do well up to 86 farenheight.
water changes twice a day!? :o
+paintbro100 For fry.
What's their lifespan?
Great info thx

Yeah, most people will agree their hardy but will forget to state that extreme high PH will kill them. A note that should always be mentioned!
Well now you know
PH needs to be around 6.5
My angelfish looks just like yours. Can you do a video on angelfish compatibility? My angelfish aren't getting along.
