Acoustic Clouds "Interactive Installation"

(www.frankdj.nl) Inspiration for this interactive installation comes from the cacophony of everyday sounds around us. The Acoustic Clouds exhibit captures sounds from the nearby environment, and based upon their direction, intensity and duration transforms them into clouds within the transparant glass surface. Visitors can not just only look at the visual representation of sounds in the window, but actually get close and listen to the exact acoustics that are captured in those clouds. By exploring, listening and discovering the sounds captured in the different clouds, the design focusses on making people listen more carefully to individual everyday sounds around them. Over 70 metres of cable, 144 LED's, 5 microphones and 9 speakers were integrated into a transparant frame in making this custom exhibit.
