Very interesting. Some people can't put a 14 ft car between 2 white lines at a supermarket! Great to see what happens after the bridge has closed and the boat has disappeared into the harbour complex🚢
thanks Paul, interesting to see how they tie up and the differences than the Navy. Questions: bow thrusters, twin screws, & rudders, chaffing gear for the Manila lines, hotel/pier services? Great editing job!!!
Yes on the bow thrusters, yes on twin screws, rudders. It does not look like they are using chaffing gear on the lines. As for the Pier services, these ships are usually at the dock for 8-12 hours depending on the load size, as far as I am aware there are none of those services.
Nice video, thank you. It looks as if they make the bow fast completely before going aft to moor the stern - is that right? Also looks as if they are using wires for mooring, not ropes?
This is from the Midwest camera this was my dock an loved working here till there so called "security team" did some things I wasn't gana stand by an take so I left an went to a different dock. I'm now retired but u ever get a chance its quit a site to see
Woah, isn't there another way to tie the ship without having to transfer people to the dock? What happens if the cable or rope breaks and the person fell into the polluted water? That's scary but I guess that's what they get paid big bucks for, I assume.
The water is not that polluted that a person falling in will get I'll. It is on the otherhand cold...that's the bad part. I think most of the Lakers all "dock themselves" may be a liability issue ?
Wow, those Laker's do it all themselves, amazing.
Well they have bow thrusters and rear thrusters, that is what those propeller symbols on the sides of the vessel mean.

I am one of those poor parkers. I am usually centered, but not always straight. It helps to take a look before walking away.
Great video, Paul! There are walleye fishermen here on the Fox river in Green Bay that can't even tie up at the boat ramps. Keep the videos comin'!
Watching that thing back in is like watching the star destroyer at the beginning of Stars Wars Ep 4 LOL.
So good to see all the activity
Thanks Paul, it was very very interesting. Greetings from Germany, Grüße aus Deutschland.
You are welcome!
Machts gut, Deutschland!🇺🇸🇩🇪
@@jamesnelson6980 Thanks a lot and cheers. Vielen Dank und Prost 😉

Gotta love a bosen swing👍‼️
Hold my Beer I gotta parallel park this thing...Thanks for the video sir...

Correct on both accounts
I saw a mix of wire and kevlar.
i didnt know they send them backwards under that bridge!
Slash racing productions it is easier to turn around before the bridge than up at the Midwest Energy dock.
Easier to get out wen thay are loaded
This was an excellent video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Who woulndnt love to go over the side 1 time in that bosins chair?
Agree'd!!
Its ok the first 1000 times, then it gets old
It's all fun and games until some brainless officer knocks a bucket of haze gray over the side.
The mooring lines look like the are made of cotton.

So what did they do? You brought it up, don’t leave us hanging.
So there's a *ship* named Indiana Harbor. I wonder if there are *ports* named MV This or SS Otherthing.
Also a ship named Burns Harbor.
It's like the 'ol man said, when 'ya hear glass, and smell blood, STOP!!
working anchor-handling tug-supply boats I have spent as much time BACKING as I ever did COMING AHEAD
Very cool. Thank you
Thanks!
Hey Paul what is that ship in the distance?
I do not remember, maybe a FEDNAV, definitely discharging cement at holcim
John J. Boland would be non too happy about all that untreated rust...
that water looks like 50-50 mix with iron ore , does anything live in the dock , it'll have three eyes and two tails and swim sideways .
Water’s murky from the St. Louis river flowing in

That's right 👍
Needs a wash and a brush up...........and a sandblast.
Rust bucket docking
Es good, thanks. 😎👍👍
And I"ll bet that ship has no joy-stick and thrusters neither.
Christian Eidsmoe no it has bow thrusters. It might have stearn, but it does not have joy-stick.
Stern thrusters too. Every 1000 foot ship built at sturgeon bay were designed with bow and stern thrusters
Спасибо за видио!!!🇷🇺💥
Добро пожаловать!
WTF? Dock yer own ship!
Rusty, needs paint
Heres a brush and bucket. Off you go
@@michaeltaylor8835 I'm thinking it's your turn, I did my time
I'll bet it's like painting the Golden Gate Bridge... once you finish stem to stern it's time to start anew with another coat.
@@oceandrew Doesn't take long, it's just expensive, more than the company cares or can spend
What a rust bucket!
It's a workhorse. Not a show queen.
