We rope dropped following this advice. We did space mountain, matterhorn, thunder mountain, and then Indiana Jones. It was exactly like the video. We walked onto all the rides and when we came out of Indiana Jones the wait was up to 45 min. Thanks for the great video.

Love this. We rope dropped July 16th and our goal was ToonTown as we have never been to the new one. We rode all the rides and pretty much shared ToonTown with what seems like only a couple of families. By the time we got out of MMRR we stopped for an early lunch at Daisys Cafe and got our food within 8 minutes. We loved it! In total that day we were able to accomplish about 21 rides, parade and the fireworks. We left after fireworks tho cuz our feet were beat. 😂 Did this with four kiddos. They had a blast. We made sure to take plenty of water breaks and sit town for breaks as well.

We were just at Disneyland Aug 12, 13 and 16. We definitely tried your tips, David. August 12 (Saturday) was our first day at Disneyland and we followed your suggestions. Sadly, Matterhorn and Indy were down. But after Big Thunder mtn, we did Haunted Mansion, Rise and Smuggler's run with no long waits. Back to Matterhorn. All these were done before lunch. After quick lunch at Tropical hideaway, we did tiki room (to cool off) , Indy, Mickey and Minnie. By then, i was too hot and too tired to continue. Grab sandwiches at Earl's of Sandwiches and headed back to hotel to rest and cool off. Returned to DCA after 6:30. Much more pleasant and did Carsland rides and Incredicoaster with short wait. It was a great start of our 3 days at Disney. Love your videos and all your hard work in helping us plan this trip.

Hi. I wouldn't consider myself a big Disneyland fan but found your channel doing research for our first trip with kids 6 years ago. Been watching your videos off and on ever since. We just did our second trip and was so glad to have found this video a few days before...we followed your advice with 2 tweens on a Tuesday 8/22 and it worked out exactly the same. However IJ was more important to us than TM so we did them in reverse order. I think this was a good move because after only a 5 minute wait for IJ the queue was already weaving around outside when we left. TM was about a 10 minute wait afterwards. Rise was closed but happened to open when we were standing out in front of it at 9:30 AM and we bagged that one with a 5 minute wait as well. In the end our longest wait of the day was for Alice in Wonderland around 7PM which was 30 minutes. Funny how that works. Instead of waiting in lines we were able to use LL to do most of the big rides twice by not using it in the morning. My favorite line now is "rope dropping rope drop", which we did! We were on the corner of the second rope behind the first one which worked great as we could shoot out when they opened it and be right there with the people on the 1st rope speed walking to space mountain.

We were last in the park in March (in the monsoon) and it was one of the first days for Runaway Railway standby and we used our rope drop very successfully for that attraction. It is now my favorite attraction! I often come back to the park solo late in the evening after everyone else is back at the hotel to get my Mountains handled.

Great advice. Did a rope drop 05/30/24 following your video and it worked. Got SM, Matterhorn, BTM, and Raiders done by 9.38. Rise had hit 120 mins by then and never dropped below 65 so we didn't get on that. We did hit more rides after and were burned out by 4pm. One tip. There was so many people pushing and shoving to get closer to the rope. Don't bother stressing yourself out. Stay where you are and you'll still probably walk onto SM. We didn't race, we walked, and despite what looked like a thousand people in front of us, we strolled straight onto the ride with one 20 second stop. Getting set in advance for your next ride and knowing where it is and the best way to get there is key also if you don't know the park.

Not sure if you will ever see this comment but wanted to thank you for this brilliant video. 2 of my friends and I did the rope drop on May 5th. We were right in front at the rope at Tomorrowland when a cast member announced HyperSpace Mountain wasn’t going to open at 8.
We then looked at the app and realized Rise wasn’t going to open (2 of us had yet to ride Rise). Based on this video, we decided to hit Matterhorn first and follow the rest of your recs. Right until rope drop, we were hashing our different scenarios. We felt that with HSM and Rise down, it would impact the other rides like MH, BT and IJA. With HM and TBA out, some major rides were going to be available.
In short, your strategy worked superbly. We completed MH, BT, and IAJ by 9am. I was confident if HSM had been open, we would have completed all 4 by 9:30. After completing all 3 rides we marveled at how amazing that was. It felt like it opened up our day and took a lot of pressure off us to do those rides.
After a quick beignet snack, we decided to hit Rise. Right as we crossed into SWL, I checked the app and it said Rise was open and 25 minutes for Standby. We were at the entrance two minutes later. By the time we finished walking through all the sections and we got to the Rey room, 9 minutes had passed. We know we were incredibly lucky. Before, 9:30, we were able you check off 4 of the 6 must rides on our list. Seriously, thank you for these great videos, they helped make our trip successful and memorable.
Between this video and the information you collected on your 30 rides on Rise, we maximized our time from rope drop to closing. We got to ride HSM, MH, BT, IAJ, Rise, MMRR twice on Sunday. We even got to do most of Fantasyland from 11pm till closing.

My husband and I are Magic Key holders and travel from Alaska go to Disneyland multiple times a year. We enjoy your tips to make help things go smoothly.
My husband used to like thrill rides, but for the last few years he’s only able to do kid rides. It works out great for me, because I can use his Fast Pass on his genie plus as well as mine. It’s a win win!!👏👏
PS Yesterday was his birthday, and he was one year old when Haunted Mansion opened!

Thank you for your excellent videos. We visited Disneyland in January, given that we live in New Zealand we can't just pop in any weekend we feel like it so we wanted to make the most of our time. Your guides really helped us with this. We followed your rope drop advice and it worked perfectly - a great start to our day!

Awesome thank you! I’d love to see a follow up for this showing how you’d tackle Day 2 in DL pre 10am.
If we were to follow this plan for Day 1 then have a slow, cruise rest of the day, which big rides would we do first day 2?

This is awesome for one day! I rope drop the west side of the park on Day 1, the east on Day 2.

Last two trips to DLand we rope dropped - Space Mountain each time - and both times it was closed. Obviously we made our way to Matterhorn - also closed. 🙂 Best takeaway was to always keep options and plans open and not get bogged down with what you can't control. Going again in November, and you better believe we're rope dropping Space again. 😀

We visited DW in 2020. We were so excited for ROTR. It broke down twice while we were on it. We were escorted out through the employee break room. The staff was almost mean about no cameras allowed in the staff area, but I understand. The third time we had the pass to walk to the front of the line and it worked.

Interesting to see you had to wait a little on Big Thunder. It really depends on the day. We went about 2 weeks ago and we got in the park about 9 -ish and we walked onto Big Thunder twice. I'm always fascinated with the crowds and how random they are sometimes.

Runaway railway is also a decent rope drop after you finished space mountain and Matterhorn. You’ll just have to hit big thunder later in the day when it gets less busy

This strategy is 🔥🔥🔥 Wish I had followed this my entire Disney Trip. We tried to rope drop Rise once and it took longer than going in the middle of the day. We tried to rope drop Indiana Jones another day and it was closed.

1/31/24 We rope dropped RotR (but were a bit late, so made it to the circle just at 8am), got to it, the ride was broken down (cast members said they did not know how long it would take to fix, might be 1 hour or could be 2 hours) so we went to Smuggler’s Run, waited 10/15 mins, then when we came out, RotR was up and running and had a 25 min wait time, we timed our line wait and we ended up waiting 8 mins before we got into the pre-show stuff, we were so thankful that happened to work out for us! Rope dropping space mountain next, thank you!

I always get to the Adventure land rope drop first. So I go right to Indy, Pirates, and Haunted mansion with no long wait issues. Also seeing how Indy closes daily it’s best to hit it first as later you may never gat to at all.
