Agreed. When I was a kid I didn't appreciate his humor, and had NO IDEA how close he was with Phil, AND that Andy was partially to blame for his death. I can't imagine being Lovitz and walking onto that News Radio set. But going back now and watching his old stuff, he's amazing. He's still definitely got a type of humor that can be off-putting, but there's no denying how smart the dude is, and quick-witted. The situation just sucks all around.
Andy is right, he is not responsible for Brynn’s sobriety. That was Brynn’s call, first, and last. Having said that, Andy has a serious, serious problem. Himself.
I watched something months ago.. About this case and it said that, phil's wife was trying to fight back her addictions.. And andy knew this.. And he gave her coccaine just for having a good time. If this is the case does it make andy look like the man in question? Is there a" mea culpa " from his part?
@@jorgfb.8652 That's really subjective. Ask most people in recovery, and they will tell you that their sobriety is their responsibility and nobody else's. Not friends, not family, and certainly not others who may or may not have a problem. Does Andy bear some responsibility? Yeah, or course, there is SOME. But, then again, why did Phil even let his wife anywhere near guys like Andy? Who can say? As far as Andy knowing Brynn's addiction issue, lol- I think he has his own addiction issues and we can sadly see how THAT is going.

Andy Dick's dad was an officer in the Navy and one of our guys. Andy was a kid and was a squirrel little lunatic. The admiral over the submarine service came for an opening of a building, the was a new base, and the officers and families were lined up to greet him. Everyone was fine, but Andy, who literally was dancing in place like a marionette puppet. I was thinking how embarrassing it was for his folks and brother. It is amazing what happens when you lose your cool after dealing with someone's shit for a long ass time. It awakens an anger inside you and when you lose it you don't realize what happened till it is over and done with.
I like to think the most rational person on earth would snap when his best friend was murdered, and a guy (partly responsible for it or not) 'jokingly' says he's putting the curse on you too and awaiting your death. That should bother you enough to change you into a different person. That's one tier below seeing your loved ones gunned down in front of you.
I'm sure Andy wasn't subtle about having coke at the party and he was at a party at her house, right? I'm assuming most people probably knew about it and knew it was something they shouldn't just wave in her face... I think the really bad thing was Andy kept bringing it up after Jon apologized and that's what lead to the fight.
Wow what a nicely nuanced conclusion! These types of videos are often v lacking in empathy. I love how you make a point to not place blame on anyone because in large part this just seems like a miscommunication mixed with a personality clash.
I don't care much about celebrities, but I also remember exactly where I was when I heard about it . I thought Hartman was the best cast member of SNL ever and good in most everything else he did.
Same. I was in my room, doing my homework. My parents had the TV on in the living room as background noise. It was turned to the news. At one point, I hear, "in breaking news", Phil Hartman is dead. I stopped what I was doing and went to go listen. I couldn't believe it.
Not once has Andy made me laugh. He tries to hard almost desperately trying to force you to laugh. But... Without talent it is just pathetic. He's always been surrounded by real talent but he doesn't bring any to the table himself. Where is Andy Dick now? Nobody cares.
Andy's complete lack of remorse, and unwillingness to take ANY responsibility for what happened with Brynn and Hartman (not saying it was 100% his fault, but his actions certainly didn't help matters) is what really strikes me in this whole thing. He just seems to have next to no empathy whatsoever, and with something as heartbreaking as what happened to Phil Hartman, it's just particularly hard to stomach, especially considering just how beloved Phil was and even still is.
I love how Jon is wearing the exact same Hawaiian shirt on the TMZ interview that he’s wearing in that same generic photo they keep using throughout this video.
@@justinedse3314 not only that but the shed resides in his ex-wife's backyard. Unless she moved at some point... which means there might be some random person out there with Andy Dick living in their backyard. That's pretty heavy.
Jon Lovitz is a real one, gotta respect how much love he has for his close friends. Dude was extremely heart broken, Andy should have known better than to mess with him. Lovitz is also absolutely hilarious, I just watched his appearance on Bill Burr's podcast the other day and he's still funnier than ever. Total legend and a little underrated.
There is a long list of things i would sacrifice to see the moment of Jon smashing Andy's head. I'd encourage him to give Andy another. Hartman was so great, had so much potential still, and Jon is one of my favorites too.
I just can't trust Andy Dick. "I don't know if I gave it to her." And then he says, "We were just getting high and she wanted some. I didn't know she had a problem." That doesn't fit. That doesn't mean he should be blamed.... just means he's full of it.
He's obviously saying it in ways to not self incriminate and then uses a hypothetical to get his point across. What I took from it was he os saying he gave her it (unofficially) but ye he accepted that he did but he didn't realise she had a habit. It also said the relationship was on the rocks already so who even knows what else was happening or what could have happened if she never got from him. Anyway she murdered a guy and everyone talking like Andy dick is the problem here lol this world is so messed up
@@jackgraham3 Well maybe your not giving h him enough credit. In the end what you or I say is only an opinion and neither of us know for sure. But iv seen people trying to to fully incriminate themselves (of opinion and of law) so it sounds vague or not fully sure what went on and they would say something like that and then kinda say "if" they done it they would do it certain ways or use someone else they are with as an example, this is quite a common way to do exactly what Andy did here. I mean OJ Simpson wrote a book called "if I did it" after saying he wasn't guilty for years lol its very similar and seen many people do it who were obviously guilty of what they done (as is 100% Andy here) but it's not the point is it that he gave her the coke or is it that it led to bad things? It's not his fault she had issues and I could quite believe he didn't know she was sober for 10 years as if you notice he didn't do any of the above about that part. Sp you see 2 very different ways of talking about things and lots of changes around it and hypothetical additions to the parts that are definitely true but he wants to just keep it not incriminating fully (again by law or public opinion) and a totally different way of saying "I didn't know she had issues of sobriety" which is in a way pretty much admitting he did give her it. So if you look at it there's a way he talks about the 2 different truths differently I mean he's not even lying as such cause he's obviously doing it so openly obvious that he gave her it. It's either he is so crazy and maniacal he doesn't know what he's saying which is very possible too or he is saying he gave her it in a funny way but then being sincere with the whole he didn't know she had issues part and didn't put it in with the hypothetical/weird way. I believe that's true for sure and ye why should he feel too bad for that? Also the part where you say people aren't blaming her go look at the co.ments lol its all about Andy and how bad he is mostly so it doesn't cut it. She was a poor soul who was led down a terrible path by Andy who malevolently gave her drugs and she the poor soul had issues and murdered her man and its due to Andy. People need to grow the fuck up
Just some lighthearted trivia to settle things a bit... Phil Hartman created the album cover artwork for the Poco album Legend, the album cover artwork for America's Greatest Hits, and Steely Dan's Aja. He was a graphic arts student in college. R.I.P. Phil.
Tank wasn't trying to hurt him at first, when he wouldn't get off of him when they landed on the desk, that pissed Tank off... Hence him being dumped on his head.
I understand Jon Lovitz's grief and that powerful need to single out the "bad guy" but I also 100% believe Andy Dick's testimony he had no idea about Mrs. Hartmann's drug history. Besides we're all grown-ups here- no one forced a gram of coke up Mrs. Hartmann's nose, she was going to do it because she wanted to, and the resulting relapse that escalated into tragedy is absolutely her own doing and not one other person bears any responsibility for it. I struggled with opioid addiction for 15 years. 4 of my friends died from OD'ing, and yet I recognize we all have no one to blame but ourselves. Also Andy Dick is probably the last comedian on Earth you want to pick a fight with 🤭 That's because 1. He's batshit crazy and 2. He is also probably funnier than you
You're making too much sense right now, be careful because rabid fans will come for you. If anything, Phil also bears some of the blame for being with an obviously crazy woman, even though they had talked about divorce for a few years leading up to this.
Years back I was at the L.A. Zoo with my girlfriend. About mid-morning we're at the "Gorilla Experience" live exhibit watching the gorillas roam, run, & eat in a realistic-style habitat. Who comes up next to us & starts chatting, Andy Dick. Minutes later, a boy walked up very close to the bars on the cage with his camera to take some pictures & a gorilla who was close, came even closer to the bars, squatted & began shitting into his/her own hands & throwing it at the boy. The sure-handed ape hit the kid & the screaming boy ran like he saw a ghost. Andy was laughing so hard, he then excused himself, evidently went to the giftshop, bought a disposable camera & returned minutes later, surprising us by taking an even less defensively strategic position by the fence. What we witnessed was hilarious, thoroughly disgusting, awe-inspiring, vomit-inducing, and one would think, in violation of many anti-pornography statutes. Although Andy's over-the-top enthusiasm only increased with every "successful catch", and his extreme level of fecal-comfort was impressive, I noticed that even many of the gorillas had to often look away out of sheer disgust. We watched as long as we could but there were other wild animals to view. But as my girlfriend and I passed the "Gorilla Experience" about 3 hours later we were able to yell 'Hello' to Andy because he was still there (with a big shit eating grin) after obviously making many, many more "successful catches".
Andy Dick has major problems so I can understand him going too far. Lovitz is not like Dick so I tend to think Dick is more in the wrong because he always is.
John is just a friend that still hurts and wants someone to blame . It’s understandable but it’s not Andy’s fault and John need to chill . Andy definitely goes too far and all of that has come together here John is the 1 that’s hurt and blaming Andy
Just discovered your channel and it’s a great concept. You should cover the time Mark Normand was choked/lifted by his shirt collar by Sherrod Small, cousin of Chris Rock
And come to find out, Lovitz isn't the only one who has beef with him. Andy consistently puts himself in situations where he gets beat up. It's happened over and over. Andy turns into a different person when he's drinking or drugging, it's just sad.
When the 90s cast of SNL appeared on an anniversay show (not long after Phil died) Jon Lovitz introduced a segment paying tribute to him. Lovitz called Phil his brother and could BARELY get through it, the other cast members were holding his hand to help him get the words out. I fully believe he would beat the crap out of someone for even being tangentially responsible for Hartman's death.
It’s one thing to say, “ she would have found it somewhere else”…but it’s another thing to ask Andy ; “ Did you help her find it ?” Yes “Did the people that she would have found it from, help her find it ?” No.
Hes lucky John didn't kill him. Phil was his absolute best friend. Tom should have said yes he would feel guilty. And should have just kept that mouth shut. That was really stupid to say those things to him.
Feel guilty for something someone else did. Suppose me being a white dude should feel guilty for something say like my great great great grandfather done in slavery times lol Honestly shut the F up and stop sticking up for "victims" when in reality that woman had issues and then went out her way to re open them again and them killed her husband. She is the murderer and the evil person here and Jon blaming Andy made it even worse, fuck Jon lovitz he's a terrible actor and comedian too
Very tough situation...I'd want to blame Andy for what happened to Phil as well, but in reality the blame really falls squarely on his wife. She could've said no to the cocaine, and she also didnt have to murder her husband...When I was in High School, i gave these 2 kids books of matches that I had knicked from science class after a day using the bunsen burners, and they ended up taking them into the bathroom and lighting a garbage can on fire, causing the school to empty out during last period. I dont think I am to blame for that because all I did was give them the matches, heck I figured they were going to go smoke a joint or a cigarette with them after school or something. Her actions after she got coke from Andy are her own. As to the Lovitz situation, with the comments reportedly made by Andy in the moment I would assume that Andy getting his head smashed into a bar is justified.
I mean if you gave me a knife and told me to kill someone with it I wouldnt so even with some intent on your end if I did end up doing it its still me not you as I know I wouldnt regardless of your input so whatever would make me do it would be an added factor
@@idiotidiot5821 It's a little different when it's an addict who's been clean for an entire decade which is a never ending battle.. It's like the drug dealer debate, people would get there fix anyways so it's not there fault.. right? A lot of gray area but that's just awful karma and there's no doubt Andy knows he effed up and has to live with that regardless of whether he'll ever admit it publicly which he def. wont. If I was in Andy Dicks position i'd feel extremely guilty to say the least.
You're assuming the wife was in full possession of her mental faculties and can be rational. Andy saw an opportunity to undermine a professional rival because he saw he was having personal issues and he fueled fire by poisoning her already addicted, impaired, paranoid brain with lies about an extramarital affairs and giving her cocaine. So he was indeed culpable.
If you can find my buddy Godfrey's full story on his friendship with Jon Lovitz, in which he gives his version of what happened, it's pretty telling. I believe it was summer 2020 on the podcast, In Godfrey We Trust, when he told the story. I think Ardie Fuqua was the guest on the episode. Also, a friend of mine was at a bar doing a standup show and Andy Dick was at the bar, and gave him his number so my friend could possibly write material for Dick. He had the number for a year and never called it, but after a show he, another buddy and I did, told us he had the number, and we told him to call it. Sure enough, Andy Dick answers, and we chatted with him for about 15-20 minutes. This was right after the Comedy Central Roast of David Hasselhoff. It was cool, but at the time, I knew who he was, but didn't know much about him. He seemed cool on the phone.

If Andy Dick is not the embodiment of the creepy guy,I don't know what is.And he was accused of sexual battery just a couple of days ago.
I remember watching the roast of Pamela Anderson back in '05 and he started playing with her boobs live on stage. She laughed but still...

Team Lovitz here, I never thought Andy was funny.
Yeah but that’s only because he’s not.
Andy is about as funny as cancer.
6:15 greatest eye roll when he hears “I’m from TMZ.”
As far as Andy knowing Brynn's addiction issue, lol- I think he has his own addiction issues and we can sadly see how THAT is going.
enablers are responsible.
@@peterlohnes1 To a point but Andy didn't make her a junkie, she made the decision to kill Phil, herself and leave the kids without parents.
if we were talking about alcohol or something, you can serve alcohol to someone and you're not responsible for what they do about it
But this is _cocaine._ Andy's not a murderer, he's a drug-pusher. Straight out of an old PSA (and it's kinda weird, why would he give it away if he's addicted to it? it's not cheap). And a truly warped person, given his reaction to it. That's how you know, even if he isn't exactly guilty, he's... dangerously unqualified to live on this planet.
Lovitz is hilarious. Norm my favorite but Lovitz always makes me laugh
Lovitz is never funny
Even Tom Green looks like he doesn't want this guy around.
tom green is friends with andy to some extent. he had no problem allowing andy to host his show multiple times.
Isn't that in part how Andy got his own show on MTV??
I have never seen a bewildered Tom Green.
I think Andy was adopted and that may have caused him to act out. He is still squirrelly but angry.

Was looking for videos on this. You did a great job covering everything. Nice job
Thank you!
Good for Jon Lovitz, didn’t think he was the type to crack some skulls.
"You can't pick me up im like 155"
Bro that's not a heavy person.
That's the first time I've ever seen anyone make Tom Green look normal by comparison.
Don't let this distract you from the fact that Norm McDonald beat Lovitz at tennis while wearing a leather jacket. 🤣
He keeps tinking it over the net.
One of the biggest losses to comedy. I remember exactly where I was when I heard the news.
Andy is hanging out with the IP2 livestreamers and got arrested for sexual assault against one of them.
Couldn’t agree more… He’s the male equivalent of Kathy Griffin.
My respect for Jon Lovitz just went up considerably.
Andy's complete lack of remorse, and unwillingness to take ANY responsibility for what happened with Brynn and Hartman (not saying it was 100% his fault, but his actions certainly didn't help matters) is what really strikes me in this whole thing. He just seems to have next to no empathy whatsoever, and with something as heartbreaking as what happened to Phil Hartman, it's just particularly hard to stomach, especially considering just how beloved Phil was and even still is.
nice video, and rip phil, shoutout to a real one
I love how Jon is wearing the exact same Hawaiian shirt on the TMZ interview that he’s wearing in that same generic photo they keep using throughout this video.

Andy just got arrested again the other day. He can't get it together. He said he's currently living in a shed. He had a career and blew it.

Kind of wish Andy had annoyed Godfrey instead. He would be in a coma.
When your last name is Dick... You gotta live up to it one way or the other, and it seems Andy chose to go with his best option.
That explains why Tim Allen shortened his name. His last name at birth was Dick.
someone is always kicking this dudes ass.
There is a long list of things i would sacrifice to see the moment of Jon smashing Andy's head. I'd encourage him to give Andy another. Hartman was so great, had so much potential still, and Jon is one of my favorites too.
Holy fuck! I'm old enough that this is coming around a 3rd time!
I just can't trust Andy Dick. "I don't know if I gave it to her." And then he says, "We were just getting high and she wanted some. I didn't know she had a problem." That doesn't fit. That doesn't mean he should be blamed.... just means he's full of it.
It doesn't matter.....she wanted , she took it..... her responsibility. Lovitz is lame!!!!!!!
Anyway she murdered a guy and everyone talking like Andy dick is the problem here lol this world is so messed up
@@nicestguyinhouse6112 You're giving him too much credit. And you're assuming no one is critical or angry with her. Seriously?
@@jackgraham3
Well maybe your not giving h him enough credit.

His work on SNL is legendary and I don’t blame Lovitz for being this way.
It's crazy to see where Andy is now
Seeing Andy Dick try to fight Tank Abbot was awesome

Well you tried
Andy Dick has major problems so I can understand him going too far. Lovitz is not like Dick so I tend to think Dick is more in the wrong because he always is.

It’s one thing to say, “ she would have found it somewhere else”…but it’s another thing to ask Andy ; “ Did you help her find it ?” Yes
“Did the people that she would have found it from, help her find it ?” No.
Hes lucky John didn't kill him. Phil was his absolute best friend. Tom should have said yes he would feel guilty. And should have just kept that mouth shut. That was really stupid to say those things to him.

@8:00 Andy Dick put Tom Green in a "WTF" moment. Didn't even know that was possible.
