    That side step at 0:56 just put a HUGE smile on my face!

    American football fan here - I'm incredibly impressed at the agility and speed of these rugby players. I wish sports channels in the US would broadcast rugby; I'd love to see more.

    I have seen all of these amazing tries, but I am still convinced that the try at 0:47 - 1:03 is the best try I have ever seen in my life! The guy is kinda chubby, but he was dodging people soo well, it was perfect! He just picked the right pathway, but then he gets tackled, but slides like 5 meters into the scoring zone, so fuck yeah! amazing!

  • @HerrAirburst
    @HerrAirburst 15 лет назад

    There is no way there can be that many awesome tries in one season! The defender in the scrumcap at 1:35 is quick.

  • @rach6st

    those passes are amazing...I loved the one where the guy with the ball reached behind himself and pulled the guys hair that was trying to tackle him and then ran accross the line

  • @samaldredmarch2007

    Completley different to us Football. In rugby you hav to touch the ball to the ground with substantial pressure in the try scoring zone and be in complete control of the ball. Opposition can do rip/tackle the ball out your hands at any time. :D

    I don't play rugby, but I have found this in fighting. Accept that you're gonna get hit. let yourself take a hit, and after time, you'll find that it ain't half as bad as you think.

    Two questions about Rugby from an American:
    1. What is a "try"?
    2. At what point is the play considered to be over (without scoring)?

  • @orphansix

    does anybody else think that the way the game is played has changed from this vid to what it is now? or is it just these vids that theyve taken that shows really fast gameplay? which imo is awesome. much faster game than what it is now...

  • @nzkiwinzkid
    @nzkiwinzkid 14 лет назад

    @liuchies Yeh he's right too. There's a hell of a lot more skills in Rugby than just the spectacular tries you see here. It would be about 20 years at least & that would require a huge growth of the sport over there. In 3-4 years you could be a top rugby 7's team though, you've improved a lot recently & I think they've made a world series final already as well. Keep in mind performance enhancing drugs are illegal in Rugby too, I know that's not the case in the NFL & probably for good reason too.

  • @theflylice
    @theflylice 12 лет назад

    Big hits are made in rugby too, NFL doesnt have a monopoly on that, besides they wear half a foot of padding so they can afford to, also the average play lasts about 10 seconds in NFL so they dont have to worry about conserving energy.

  • @orphansix
    @orphansix 12 лет назад

    yeah, I know, Im from New Zealand. But for some reason, I think that this vid shows much faster ball back then, than the super14 now. European teams used to play faster balls too, from what ive seen and see now

  • @MGoose66
    @MGoose66 16 лет назад

    150 lb = 71 Kg... so maybe in the u16s. Mind you, a couple of recent Springbok props went close to double that, but the modern game has taken them out of the equation.

  • @BGerbs66
    @BGerbs66 12 лет назад

    It's annoying hearing people say that rugby is better than American football or vise versa. Each is great in its own way. I play American football, but I would never play rugby. I know that in rugby, people try to take people down. In American football, people try to kill each other. The two sports are very similar, but very different

  • @willdude21
    @willdude21 14 лет назад

    @AndyMack95 I think there is confusion over what kind of football you are referring to, I assume you mean Rugby came from football (soccer to you yanks), not that Rugby came from American football. To clear that up though Rugby was actually being played at the School of Rugby (hence where the name comes from) as early as 1750. That's before the Declaration of Independence and therefore, fair to say a long time before American Football was around!

    What countries play Grid Iron? Is there a world cup? Can you play NFL at a local level a grass roots level? and why does it take 3 and a half hours to play a 48 minute game?

  • @tommyzzz123
    @tommyzzz123 15 лет назад

    the reason that the northern southern hemishpere displays more running rugby is because of the poor defence

  • @Degenerate_Gen
    @Degenerate_Gen 16 лет назад

    yeah...generally hits in the NFL are alot harder than in union...car crashes are the equevelant to NFL rugby not far off but NFL needs pads because of the rules and the set up of the game which very much encourages huge hits bloking etc whereas rugby is not orientated soley on huge hitzzzz...

  • @xXVi3t4lyfeXx

    Now, I'm kind of a fan of American football, but Rugby... There is just no comparison. The one of the many reasons that Rugby eclipses football, is that in American Football, the game is FAR to centric around the one great player. Whereas Rugby is a team collaboration, through and through. Yes there are great players, but every play is a team effort to get to the try zone. It's like watching Football, there's always the 1 play that's like "That JUST happened!" In rugby.. Every play is like that.

  • @Zanol14
    @Zanol14 16 лет назад

    i agree with you
    i mean if you put a 250LBs or even bigger NFL player in a rugby game he would break someone apart
    imagine you getting hit the way reggie bush got hit, WITH pads, and he couldnt even walk
    note:reggie is one the best runningbacks on the NFL
    u get hit like dat in rugby ur done
    for life

    @YellowBlackbird12 thats not tru, theres just as much contact, if not more, in rugby. its just a differant sport, u need pads in footbal cause the game is diffrent. i lik football better cause u get to b a little meaner wen u tackle but both sports are still badass
