  • In a previous video ( • 100 MHz Or 125 MHz? Fu... ) I showed that HDS2102S had some issue with the 2ns/div timebase. It was actually 2.5ns/div. I can confirm that the issue had been addressed with the latest firmware version. And this video illustrates the firmware update procedures which is applicable to all versions of the oscilloscopes in the HDS200 series.

    .... Well done Mate, excellent.
    You are primarily responsible for this being addressed. I hope the company looks after you and appreciates your diligence and expertise.
    I would be one among many whom purchased this unit (and love it) ONLY because of your review.

    I got the HDS2202S today, and checked the division with it in different ranges, and a PWM signal from one of my microchips, and it is spot on with firmware 2.10. But Man, played with it for 2.5 hours and its already out of battery. haha. I guess this is how it is the first times we play with the toys. during normal circumstances I won't be using it all the time. Excellent product though.

    That was a painless update process and it's a nice piece of kit.

      Yep, You'd think they would realize the market for oscilloscopes and other tools of the like is heavily populated with Linux users. Linux users are much more prone to be hackers/tinkerers. I have tons of SBC's and microcontrollers to support.

    It appears they use different version numbers for different hardware version. My HDS2102S is on v3.4.0. This version doesnt seem to suffer from the 2.5ns bug thankfully. It does have some other tiny annoyances such as certain measurements not updating in certain time bases, and weird artifacts on the signal when zooming in on a single shot signal with Peak detect (normal sample mode zooms in ok). Also in single shot ive had signals that wouldnt fully display on the screen until i zoomed in and out one step. I hope Owon puts more effort in to solving bugs for their existing products.

    That's a nice little instrument, I used to dismiss those as toys, but it seems they are becoming seriously useful.

    Kerry, I bought an hds2202s via Amazon about a year ago based on your reviews and it has never worked right - channel 1 has huge spikes that prevent triggering from working properly and displays them at crazy times (Channel 2 works properly if channel 1 is disabled).
    The firmware shows version 1.0.1. I tried to find support at the OWON website you show, but the 2202 does NOT appear at all. People in the comments for this video report much later firmware on their 2102s. Contacting OWON for support at that time and I was stonewalled and asked to provide a VIDEO demonstration of the problem. How does one find firmware updates for the 200 mhz scope? It's not even shown here as an OWON product!
    I've written it off as a bad deal and it's just sitting here hoping someday for an answer...
    thanks,
    M

    I just bought the version without signal generator and I used an external signal generator to generate a 25hz 3v sin wave and saw wave and used the multimeter to measure the voltage it didn't catch the value it keep increasing slowly and returning to zero i checked with my multimeter the Fluke 115 it get 3v and I checked with my Sanwa pocket multimeter it show 3v I just want to check if the issue is from my oscilloscope or is for everyone had the hds 2102

    Would be great to see a comparison of the HDS2102s with Fnirsi DPOX180H. Latter claims 180MHz, but realistically that seems overrated, hence this comparison would be good, also considering their price is similar.

    Hello,
    Can someone help: when I connect 60v from battery to power mosfet or IGBT to the drain/source (+ to drain, - to source ) it blows up. transistor not connected anywhere else. How it is possible? (transistors ratings 100-200v 60-80A) if battery on short it gives up to 55A.

    I just received mine and the noise floor on both channels are about 120/160mV when 1V/div and like 12/16V when 100V/div damn, something is wrong and auto calibration does not help :(

    • @KerryWongBlog
      @KerryWongBlog  Год назад

      Are you saying you were seeing noise waveform without any input? There shouldn't be much noise even down to 100mV/div.

    • @rzabinczi
      @rzabinczi Год назад

      @@KerryWongBlog Yep, there is something obviously wrong with it, I can also see a stable waveform line on your video(and on others too, even with different models), and mine is fuzzy. You can see it on the screen right away, and also measuring function picks it up. Its about 0,16div of each vertical scale. Same on both channels. I don't know if it comes from ADC or something in power supply. And also I don't know where to go with it, banggood or manufacturer.

    • @rzabinczi
      @rzabinczi Год назад

      @@KerryWongBlog Damn this gets interesting. Imagine that when I took a peek inside, I found there is different hardware than in your teardown, and further seeking - it matches higher model, and also got linsi ADC. The pcb is marked as hds2xx2x v1.11, and firmware running on my unit is V4.1.0. The boot sequence is also longer than yours, and it has this progress bar wchich matches 2202. And I also checked power consumption, and it is 0,92A @4V which is neither of both but higher than yours 0,72A, which again may suggest that it is 2202 downgraded. But I still got no clue about this noise so Im waiting for seller respond.

    • @KerryWongBlog
      @KerryWongBlog  Год назад

      @@rzabinczi you might want to contact your seller and send them a photo of the issue you were seeing. I reviewed a 2202 a few months back. You can also check that video out to see how your hardware compares.

      @rzabinczi Год назад

      @@KerryWongBlog Sure, I contacted banggood. And the hardware seems to match 2202s. I wrote about it because I thought that might be interesting for You, not suggesting that you should do something with it xD
