  • This Chainsaw mill is based on several sawmills already posted...
The saw is a Stihl MS-362C, the Trailer Deck is approx 14 ft long (measuring the Saw carriage way). Effective log size is 16" diameter up to 10 ft length.
The Saw is raised or lowered by a 13TPI (turn per inch) threaded rod (1/2" dia).
The only "New" parts needed were the hand cranked boat winch, welding wire and basic fasteners/hardware (under $100 total).
As a "Proof of concept" Mill, I'm well pleased.
A Ver 2.0 Sawmill is half done, that is built around a FarmerTec G660 92cc saw, 36" bar, that will be able to handle 24" logs of up to 12ft length.
Video was shot on a GoPro Hero 5, a GitUp Git 2P and an SJRC F11 4K Pro drone.

Hey, nice job RF! Looks like you've been putting your time to better use than many of your "Neighbours" in this silly season. 😜
My old MS880 sits forlornly in the shed. Still works perfectly just the operator doesn't any more. Have to get the young ones to start it for me to use it now! But I've bought a little Cheap Shop toy one so I can get my fix of "the smell of 2-stroke fuel and wood chips in the morning!" 😁

Hey Oz! - Glad you liked the vid... probably the best project I've worked on for years...
Agreed, I have met lots of "Good Solid" folks on both sides of the political aisle in the US... I take no sides in their affairs, but I sincerely hope that they can find "Heal" the massive divide that has split them into two...
I couldn't afford the real Stihl MS-660 (one step down from your MS-880) so opted for a FarmerTec G660... It looks like the "Borrowed" Stihl's injection molding die's and just changed the colour of the resin to Blue over Orange... it's a bolt for bolt knock-off, but seems to work great!
It too is a bear to start, but once it gets mounted into the new Mill that'll help (I hope :)...
Like you, I'm moving slower, and get my son-in-law to drop n skid out my trees... I used to enjoy the adrenaline rush, not so much these days ;)

Great Job! Looking forward to version 2. Subbed. I run an Alaskan mill, husky 372xp 28" bar. Got about 3000 Board feet done so far.

Thanks Steve :), It sure is a lot of fun, AND just knowing I'll never buy timber from a Lumber yard again is a real bonus!!!!
Husky saws are quite nice, I looked at many options before getting the "Knock-off" Stihl ms660, it was just economics 2 grand plus simply wasn't an option.
      All the Best!

hello Isaac, Unfortunately this video is all there is, it was a "LockDown" project, I had no idea if it would even work, so opted to just take still images ...

Hello Jeff Jeansonne - Thanks so much... I do have a FaceBook account (inactive), but this channel is really as close I get to what passes for "Social Media", so it's enjoyable to reply if someone takes the time to post a comment or question.
      All the Best!

    Ripping chain?

Yes sir! I bought a true Ripping Chain from the local Stihl dealer, but was able to approximate the angle easily after he told me I could just make my own...

Man that music is ear r#pe

    • @ruralflyer5747
      @ruralflyer5747  Год назад

I assume you meant "Ear Rape", but unsure of whether that is a compliment. Like when the young folks say "Phat, Sick, or the shit" when they mean it's good...
But since the word "rape" has some heavy negative associations, I'm guessing you didn't like it.
It's unfortunate that you weren't more specific, as the Hellecasters (Will Ray, Jerry Donahue and John Jorgenson) are acclaimed as truly "World Class" musicians.
Perhaps the "mix" is a bit "Hot" (too loud), but video production is not how I make a living... But I'd gladly take any constructive criticism.
