at the end it comes down to Graphics and cable or Freedom and no Cable! Are you curious to see any other comparison? let me know which game you're thinking about! :) Remember to leave a like! It takes ages to sync everything :)
This video is SPOT ON and NEEDED! Do you mind if we add it to our steam group's best VR headset's page, that people go to when deciding which is right for them?
I was looking at the quest but the only game I really want is VTOL & the quest doesn't have the power to run it so looks like I will have to get a better PC than my current 10yr old one.
The fact that there are so many people that don’t realize the calibration programs at the start are from lone echo. Breaks my heart that so many people have never seen or played lone echo. It is such a good game.
Tyriel, I have played both and even though side by side the rift looks like the clear winner, but when in the game and engaged in combat, you don’t even notice! All I know is the wirelessness of Quest make this game the clean winner on Quest!
The Rift is not the winner. PCVR is the winner, and by proxy the Quest is the true winner since you can play this game without cables and if you absolutely must have the best visuals you can connect it to your PC and get better visuals.
I'll have to check this out when my Quest comes in this week : ) I chose it over the other ones because it has no cables and it just seems easier to share with family and friends. Graphics don't need to be the best to have a good time : )
The cable never wraps around me. Instead, it just coils up on the floor. You do have to mind your rotations because if you turn around 5 times to the right then you have to turn five times to the left to undo the coil.
I have the Quest and I don’t really care about the graphics as long as I can have fun and play the game, but I just can’t help but admire the graphics for the Rift
It’s incredible how good this port is.... I honestly wasn’t expecting it to be this good. I’ll never forget how magical the experience was in my first play through of Lone Echo was on the Rift.
This is my favorite sports VR game for 3 reasons: Reason number 1: a sense of community when playing Reason number 2: Super adrenaline rush when you have the disk and you know the entire opposing team is right behind you Reason number 3: "The final countdown" music hit PERFECTLY FITS WITH THE CHAOTIC SCRAMBLE FOR THE DISK
The PC version obviously looks better, but I'd trade a lot not to have a wire. I've been playing Half-Life Alyx recently over link after playing mostly Quest only games. Suddenly having to deal with a wire is super annoying.
The differences: halving of resolution, lower texture, no reflections, very few particle effects. Still amazing that it is as good in the quest as it is.
When compared to the pc version, the quest looks really ugly, but in game, you don’t notice that. It still feels really immersive and maybe even more than the pc because it is wireless
Honestly they did an amazing job because when you're actually playing the game in the headset it's just as good as the PC version and it's amazing just to turn in circles without a cable
Played this game for abt a year now on rift. You kinda just learn to step over your cord. Better yet, get an extension cable so your cord will never be taught
Yes. When you link the quest to your pc via oculus link, it basically turns it into a oculus rift/rift s. So, yeah, it will have the graphics of the rift and rift s version (aka BETTER) but i prefer playing wirelessly.
Thumbs up man! Well done video!! Good comparison. I play on Quest .. also played it once on my Rift but like it more when playing free.. The gameplay is better than with a cable and in the end gameplay is all that matters.
Quest-Users can choose between Standalone and PC-Version. I prefer the Standalone because you don't have that cable. People who want more beautiful graphics of course should use a link cable. Both is great!
I’ve played the quest version on my quest 2 and I thought the graphics were great I recently just bought my first PC and I hooked up my quest 2 to the PC and holy crap I notice the difference right away for starters your hands are so much more detailed it’s almost like 4K and you have a shiny gold on your hands
It looks great either way but still deciding from quest or Rift s, i have a vr ready laptop but i would also want more portablity cus i would bring the vr Headset to my friends house. I stuck on this, can anyone help?
Hey Tyriel, I have a Samsung Odyssey + (mostly for flight simming) but I recently have taken up Echo Arena which I think is an awesome game. The problem for me is that the Samsung controllers are not good in this game at all. They loose tracking during almost any natural throwing motion due to the limited field of few of two cameras on the headset. So I'm considering getting a Quest or a Rift S, or even a HP Reverb G2 when it is available. So my question for you and this video is "Do you notice any limitations in the tracking between the Rift and the Quest, and any difference in throwing accuracy?? Thanks!
Weird that the quest version is missing any sort of specular metallic reflections. they are really cheap to fake graphically. That's my only gripe with the quest version, (tried both) oh and the fact that some objects are missing definition, like the disc holder in 2:30, the quest version is too smooth like they forgot to disable the smooth shading for the bowl edge.
Salutes to them for doing their best, but The difference in graphics is so apparent. More apparent in this video comparison than ive ever seen in others. Especially the lighting and textures... tbh i hope the new quest comming out nxt year will standalone have the graphical quality of the pc/link version now. Main reason i aint bought a quest yet. A year isnt long to wait for better immersion. Deffo expecting big things from the next version 😁
I'd still personally prefer the PC version over the quest. Even with the cable. It honestly has never bothered me much at all. Still, glad it came out on quest and still has quite a lot of fidelity. :)
Does anyone know if there's cross-progression between the Quest and Rift versions? I may want to jump back and forth depending on whether I want to deal with the link cable on my Quest 2.
how about playing it on the quest from the PC with a link cable, is the graphics still like the standalone quest or does the graphic improve with the link?
I would definitely want to play on quest for the freedom If you think about it Echo Vr the throwing punching and grabbing The cable could get in the way Sadly I am using a rift S the graphics are excellent and I will definitely try to get a hold of the Quest
wow, that's a bigger difference than I thought. but also, I'm interested in seeing the e n t i r e h a l f of the lobby that quest is prohibited from. it hurts my soul every time I see those barriers
When i first got the Rift S i played it so long that the controllers died in one sitting. lol. but i sold the rift S since then, i kept have tracking issues and all sorts of bugs that ruined the immersion completely. also i had a low end pc at the time which could have been the problem. i now have a higher end pc and im in the market for VR. the quest along side the link looks like a good option.
It’s really not, link has so many issues rn that it looks no where near as good as the rift. You could use virtual desktop if you have a 5ghz wifi speed. Then once the link is actually ready then you can get it.
i would use link to play this game but im getting my quest this week and i see my self playing this alot and i dont want to turn on my pc every time i play it i think this will be my main game

Quest because honestly when playing you can't tell much of a difference
PC
Quest version looks great in its own right and was optimized greatly. Still I can not ignore how gorgeous and detailed the PC version is.
Either way its fun on both 😎
@@UnSleepLMAO I mean you theoretically could play it on PC with Oculus Link
No wires definitely sells it
I mean it's not like insanely gorgeous normally lol, but when u compare it it definitely looks like that.
I have 2 Cv1s and am looking to purchase a quest. It does look great on pc, but I cannot wait to see it in quest for myself.
Impressive job syncing the two side by side Tyriel
Totally agree. Tyriel is EXCELLENT at what he does. Clear, concise and well thought out videos.
I have both versions and I choose to play on quest every time. I just love the freedom and the fact I can be playing in seconds.
I have to admit the pick up your quest and just play is amazing
I was looking at the quest but the only game I really want is VTOL & the quest doesn't have the power to run it so looks like I will have to get a better PC than my current 10yr old one.

I would rather play on my Rift because of Echo Combat, which is much better than Arena

There's no reason NOT to go for the Quest. If you are unsatisfied with the graphics just pop in the cable and you have PCVR !
@@iliasalmaudi8365 Well the the components that allow the quest to be able to play on it's own do make it more uncomfortable than the Rift S
Yes
I guess yeah. This game would be a bit of pain with wired headset...
It shouldnt be that much of a Problem, but it's going to ruin the immersion now and then
You can't twist with it wired to the PC. However you're less likely to wonder off towards a glass window, wall or that irreplaceable family antique.
It’s really not
I've been playing with a wired headset and so far nothing bad happened... yet

I think the graphics have improved on the quest since then but it is still nowhere near as good as the rift. I envy rift players
This is why I stuck to my Vive wireless and will get either the Cosmos Elite or Index if that ever gets wireless.
I heard the Cosmos had some really bad tracking, so maybe it's best to get the Index
I've only played the tutorial now and hands down one of the best experiences I've had so far in entire gaming... Holy shit!
The quest is cool and all, but ever since I got a vr capable PC and saw the graphics, I cant go back...
TBH, I'm proud of the port, for the fact that they managed to make it work for how well they kept the entirety of the game in a smaller package.
Echo VR is so addicted
This game is the most fun ive had on the quest in a while. Only thing i want is custom controls
