    When I first heard about this, I thought it'd be something ridiculous like smugglers with light sabers or some shit.
    Thankfully not and it'll make more sense and also be reasonable selection, always wanted a sniper bounty hunter ever since I saw that one cutscene in the main story. Now once combat slyles comes tomorrow, I can finally be that dream build I always wanted and make a main bounty hunter. Instead of just my sith marauder being the only main I like.

      They should make that for Force Users was a little Different, originally you would be locked for only The Chosen Light or Dark Side with Jedi or Sith, after Chapter 3 where was supose to Unlock that, if your Character was High Enough in light or Dark Side Then It would Unlock the oposite Side for them, If not, like a Jedi who remained Light Side until Chapter 3, then you would be able to choose only Light Side Combat Styles, but if you Chosen Dark Side until that point, then you would have a Second Combat style as a Dark Side User, but remained with your original Light Side, since you were a Jedi, The Same for Sith, that Way Both would be able to Have Both sides but not so much immersion Breaking, since your Character would only use the opposite Força Power after having his Progression, and being "Corrupted/Cleansed" and now can Choose The other way
      Like Star Killer, begun like a Sith, then you can make him become a Jedi until The End, but he Still uses The Dark Side Powers...
      They Could make that If You are a Sith with High Light Side your Lightinings would be more Blue, and if you are more Dark Side they become more Purple, showing that you know The Dark Side Power but Have light Side in you, since The Force dont know The Difference in Dark or Light, it only manifest It self

    Hey, just thought about something. Using two combat styles that have the exact same weapon (for example, Gunslinger and Mercenary both having dual pistols), they'd switch up their style without having to change their weapons and wouldn't look strange like someone putting away their assault cannon only to pull out a tiny little blaster pistol.

    @reddfranzen9072 2 года назад +8

    this actually answers a lot of my questions, and sadly i have to say im disappointed, the combat styles add nothing new to the game, sure it changes your combat moves, but what is the point in that since the classes have there own specific flavor to it, as an example, bounty hunter class people choose it for rockets, fire and jetpacks, why would you want to change that out when you chose bounty hunter specifically for that. All this new update does is allow players the ability to be tank dps and healer, instead of being stuck in dps dps dps, or dps tank etc... and allowing the player to only need one character to have high level gear on, thats fine and all. But the fact that people are excited for playing the story (which stops mattering once you enter knights of the fallen empire) while changing the way that fight, makes no sense. I would much prefer if they allowed us to use different weapons when we multiclass in a way DnD works, where when you multiclass, you gain the passives as well, such as armor proficiency and weapon proficiency.
    my point is, if you really want players to play the way they want, this isnt the way to go, i want to be boba fett, yet im stuck playing as jango fett with dual pistols, or some random bounty hunter with a pistol that uses a flame thrower, but if i could change that pistol to a rifle, boom im boba fett.
    Also dont give the excuse that it would be too hard for developers to give weapons to other classes because plenty of other games do it easily by just using the same move in weapons, I.E. a strong sword a attack does a spin in WoW while the rogue with a dagger does the same thing. If a sith warrior does a choke with his left hand, and a sith inquistor shoots a quick bolt with his left hand, the animation didnt really change, in fact its the same. the only thing different are the FX.

      They never said we'd be able to play exactly how we want with this expansion. What they said was we'd get more options to play closer to how we want than the game started with. Now, people that play as a Bounty Hunter don't have to be stuck cosplaying as Boba OR Jango Fett. They can bounty hunt with a sniper, and be one of the other BH characters from the Star Wars universe. What you want is just a giant pool of powers to pick from, which isn't what they said they were doing or ever promised they'd do.

Now I can just make a single Jedi Knight and have both the Jedi Guardian and the Jedi Sentinel advanced classes on one character. So you now only need 8 characters total to play every class in the game, which you were going to have to do anyways if you wanted to get Legendary.

    Don't the story classes have their own abilities? I started playing as a Scoundrel Smuggler, but also want to try Tactics Vanguard as my combat style. Wouldn't I be able to use some of the Smuggler abilities not tied to the advanced classes *in addition* to the Vanguard stuff?
    Or is it just that the only thing the choice of story class changes is the story you play through?

    okay, my only thing when it comes to the tech combat styles, Is it really worth it to do for example a sniper/gunslinger, or vanguard/powertech when those combat styles do the exact same thing, just with slightly different animations? It's like Bloodsport and Peacemaker being on the suicide squad, why do I need 2? I understand the cosmetic desire but from a gameplay standpoint it doesn't make a whole lotta sense, this plagues my mind when I try to pick second combat styles while still wanting to create a good aesthetic for my chars, for example I am happy with my trooper with Merc/Vanguard even though I just effectively changed the weapon and animations of the Commando, my point is maybe the devs should make some additions and/or changes to how the combat styles behave to make them feel more unique in their utility.

    So this was awesome and answered most questions very in-depth. Something I'm left confused about is the gear itself. I'm going to use a non-personal example to make my point more clearly: If I'm playing a Commando now, but I switch to Sniper or the other Operative "combat styles" then can he still wear his Commando Armor/gear for aesthetics with the proper Operative weapon equipped (which the weapon part was answered excellently) like the Sniper Rifle. OR will he be forced to wear the Operative looking gear instead?
    My actual example is actually more subtle as I'm wanting to make my Bounty Hunter keep his Mando looking armor but wield a rifle instead of pistols and obviously I get two choices for that, either Commando to keep his fighting style similar or Operative if I want to go that route. But in either case, even Commando, I'm not wanting to wear the Clone Trooper looking gear, I prefer my Mandalorian stuff.

  • @jets1982
    @jets1982 2 года назад

    Sorry, I'm going to ask a potentially stupid question. Apologies if this was covered in the video and I haven't understood it already.
    With regards to the question answered around the 9 min 25 sec mark... I have some existing characters I created before the expansion. The video mentions that if they have any light/dark side points they get the option to flip to the other side. These characters of mine don't have any light/dark side points at all right now (we just had a baby a couple of months ago so I created some characters a while back but haven't had the time to log in and play as them yet).
    Basically, is this ability to flip sides a one time deal when you log in if you already have the required dark/light points? Or do we know if it's a prompt that appears at a later stage once you get the required dark/light side points? I'm not sure if the dev's answer to this question only applies to characters that are already aligned with the opposite side or whether it applies to all characters created before the expansion regardless of their current alignment (or lack thereof). The devs answer says you "would need" points with the other side. But do I need to have them now or can I get them later?
    Again, sorry if that's a monumentally stupid question!

    • @jets1982
      @jets1982 2 года назад

      After watching this part of the video about 10 times, I'm interpreting it as "I'll get the option later once I get the dark/light points with the opposite side". Having thought about it some more, I can't re-create some of them and start over because I have dark tier V already so my Jedi wouldn't get the option to flip (either now or later) unless I pick a dark side combat style right from the start anyway. Of course, if I'm still being stupid please feel free to set me straight!

    • @Swtorista
      @Swtorista  2 года назад

      I'm honestly not entirely sure. You can always TRY this: Don't accept /start the quest. Earn the needed dark/light level. Start the quest. See if it gives you the option (its the first part of the cutscene). If it works, HURRAY! If it does not work - you can press ESC to escape out the cutscene and better decide how you want to handle the sadness.

    • @jets1982
      @jets1982 2 года назад

      @@Swtorista Thanks for the response. I went on to watch some of your other videos on the changes and saw there was a quest to do this rather than just a prompt that pops up when you log in or just when you randomly get alignment points. That's where some of my confusion was coming from. This was the first video I watched on the topic so I hadn't seen that already. So that answered part of my question.
      I did have another thought about this after switching my pc off last night. If it doesn't give me the option to flip, I could always just sub again for a month and pick a second combat style. Then unsub with my preferred style active so I get to keep using it moving forward. So it's no big deal. Sadness handling not required.
      I think they envisioned what would happen with new characters, existing characters, people aligned with either side of the force etc. What they didn't envision was that some guy would have existing characters from 6 months ago with zero alignment points whatsoever because he's been busy changing nappies instead of doing even a single quest. So it wasn't really explicitly covered in any explanations I read or watched. My brain hurts less today after figuring it out.

    I don't find this lightning thing strange. You choke/electrocute many people in cutscenes, but those opponents are already quite weak/injured, it is logical that you use a more advanced form of attacking someone (for example, a Marauder might be able to use Force Choke, but it is a quite weak situational ability which is barely used for anything but rooting/interrupting, it deals weak damage. A Lightning Sorcerer actually does not use that much Force Lighning, and relies more on Lighning Bolt/Thundering Blast).

But is anyone else really upset that already established characters can’t switch their combat styles? Yea you get to add a second one if you subscribe. But if the developers couldn’t figure out how to change the original then they should have considered making a exception by just giving those characters the ability to pick the 2nd one for free without having to be a subscriber. Or at the least maybe just one of your established characters? I know complaining about this is kinda petty. But I wanted to get rid of one of my current combat styles for my main because I stopped enjoying it.

    PS:
    But all I really wanted was to be able to use a Inquisitor, using Double Blade Staff Lightsaber but using Sorcerer Lightining Skills...
    That would make me feel more like a Sorcerer, using a Staff, That would be Awesome
