    I'm rebuilding my 77' R100s and 78' R100/7, and going to need this video soon, so whatever you do, please don't take this down. Its a great video!

    Thanks, just rebuilding my r100s and have not made note of all the wiring, so this was a big help.

      I'm pleased this was helpful. That said, you didn't say what year R100S you have. There are differences in the harness for the '77 S and RS mostly due to the instruments, but the overall main harness routing is the same.

      Con, Thank you for you're kind words. But, I've benefited from many generous folks who have worked on these bikes for 40-50 years. All I did was write down, and film, doing what they helped me learn how to do.

      @@BrooksAirheadGarage I am a mechanic by trade,and i allways like to watch other ppl do it,so that i might learn something different.I really like your methodology,since i work on many different brands/models,i can get better by using it

      @@bikeserv To be clear, I'm not a professional mechanic, but a self-taught hobbyist. That said I was a Mechanical Engineer at one time, so I suspect some of my engineering "DNA" shows up in how I document my work. I'm pleased this material is useful to you. You will find very detailed written documentation about all my BMW airhead rebuild projects on my website:

    Great! Thanks for the explanations, i´m thinking on an upgrade to my ´82 R100RS charge system, as my motorcycle discharges the battery in 3 days when i´m doing low Km and low speed routes into the city... already checked everything, like diode board, regulator, etc... but seems to be a particular issue on this year model. Thinking on the Silent Hektik charging system, as i live in Spain and it's easier to find.

    How did you run the rear wires back through the frame to the tail light assembly?

      Hi TRsouth, I added a link in the video summary to the detailed documentation on my web site about how I install the complete wiring system. Thank you for asking as I forgot to add that link when I published the video.

      Bob, I would check the two fuses inside the headlight shell. Hopefully they are burned out so that other components were protected.

    Hi, Bro. Your bike is so nicely done. I have got a problem with mine. Whenever I touch the inner main Wire from the battery the ignition will be turn on and off… would you please advise how to rectify this problem?

    • @BrooksAirheadGarage
      @BrooksAirheadGarage  2 года назад

      Adv X, I guess either the connection between the wire and the terminal is loose, or corroded, or the switch is failing.

    I find motorbike electrics utterly baffling. At present I am nearing the end of my 1977 R100/7 restoration and have found a number of electrical problems caused by me removing and refitting the wiring loom. The rear light doesn't work and the rear indicators do flash but are feint. Your video siggests I haven't fitted the earth (ground) wire correctly so back to work.
