Very nice and well optioned car. First week of January 1967. Very nice, looking forward to seeing the car come together.

It’s definitely a very cool car. I’m excited to see it come together as well. There will be a lot of blood sweat and tears before that.

Looking forward to your doorskin video. I might have to reskin mine.

I’ll probably work on that in the next couple weeks. I’m excited to redo that skin. The car will be dialed in pretty quickly.

Hey Mitch. I have a 68 SS 396 Coupe that I did the same thing to. Bought it in the late 90's and Matt used to drive it to school in the early 2000's. Then we tore it down, new quarters and RF floor pan (heater core leak). I rebuilt the 396, and have a rebuilt super T-10 to go in it. If you have any questions let me know, as I've gone thru the entire car.

Hey Dr Lee. Wow that sounds like an amazing car! What color is it? Wow Matt had a heck of a car to take to high school!! That’s so cool. Sounds like you were pretty deep into that one as well! That’s awesome. I appreciate the offer! I’m sure I’ll be reaching out since this is our first Camaro restoration.

67 Camaro. ..another favorite. My wife had a 68 and got rid of it just before we met. I had dreams of what I could have made it into.

Can’t go wrong with a first gen Camaro! Dang that’s a bummer that she got rid of it early on. Sounds like you found a gal that likes cool cars. That’s a win!

@@MidYearMitch So true. Met her in 7th grade...just celebrated 36 years of marriage. The one one and only for me.

Dang, your dad's Camaro looks great man. Looking forward to seeing what he does with it! Glad to hear he decided to go with the original color combo. I look forward to seeing more of this one soon.

Thanks I appreciate it! I’m excited to see it come together as well. So far it’s turning out nice. I’ve been making some repairs and it’s going to be a nice car. I think the original color combo is pretty neat so it will make a really cool conversation piece.

    Hey there Mitch,
Those 1st gen camaros are another big favorite if mine. Get out of my brain! :-)
This should be a fun build.
    Take care,
    Dan

Haha sounds like we have a lot in common car wise. Great minds think alike! I’m excited to see this thing come together. I’ve been making some repairs on the car and it’s turning out really nice.

Solid body for sure. And you are definitely better off working the GM front fenders. I’ve done a several 1st gens and the aftermarket front fenders are almost always problematic.

It should be a great start. I’ve already started on some metalwork and it’s coming together nicely. It should be a nice car when it’s done. Thanks for the tip that’s good to know.

I'm glad to see the 67 Camaro getting started makes me miss my rs. So on mine the first and really only place it had rust was on the passenger side between the door and rear tire about 2 inches from the bottom. And I'll say again get traction bars or you will be in wheel hop city. it's going to be in good hands with both you and your dad working on it. Mine was black on black. very cool.

Sounds like you had a great car!! Black on black rs. Can’t get much better than that! It also sounds like that was a solid car. I’m excited to get this car dialed in. I’m sure once we dive into the suspension we will probably add some slapper bars or something. With the heart of the misfit it will need all the help it can get!

I know this video has been out for a while and you probably already got the answers to that interior survey....KEEP IT GOLD! lol. Anyhow, knowing how well you research things...the small block SS cars got 350s and the 12 bolt rear end. You've got the 12 bolt...which is usually scavenged, so if you want to keep it somewhat "original" go 350. Yes...splitting hairs and opinions from the peanut gallery are near worthless. I'm in the opposite position, I've got a 350 (enhanced) in my 67 Camaro and will be putting the original 327 back into it. Oh...and while the cowl induction hood looks like it's a nice piece, you might consider sourcing the SS hood which yells out what it is. LOL. You've got a nice car there with great options and prominence. Can't wait to see it progress with your videos.

It is a good, solid start but there are enough repairs all over the car I’d be careful how deep you get into this. It’s not going to be “original-original”, just a nicely repaired early car.

    • @MidYearMitch
      @MidYearMitch  2 года назад

Don’t worry we will get her dialed in. I’ve been working on the car for a couple weeks and it’s coming together pretty quick. It will be a very nice car when it’s done. I’ve seen people start out with a lot worse cars and make them into something very spectacular. This car will be solid when we are through with it.
