- In this tutorial, let us learn How To Count Specific Word In A Cell In Excel
Using the LEN and Substitute functions let us count the specific word in a sentence.
This is my example now, where we have three sentences with some repetitive words.
In first sentence, let us count the word Cricket, so I enter the formula in cell C5 as
=(LEN(A5)-LEN(SUBSTITUTE(A5,B5,"")))/LEN(B5) and when you press enter you get the result as 3 which is correct.

Capital letters & small letters matters in this formula... Like if I type cricket in capital letters will it show the right answer...... I think the word or format of the word should be same..... Am I right sir....
it is not case sensitive, you can try please.
