      I used to look at those stats with awe, until I got to watch one of the Saginaw games in person. That team is just awfully coached. Their team has so many talented forwards yet the entire offense relies so much on their defensemen. I mean those defensemen are good players, but in that system the Dmen stats are heavily inflated while forwards suffer with stats and with their development.

    If my Sharks fall to #3 in the draft, I’d be very comfortable with them trading down a few picks and still getting Dickinson, Parekh or Buium along with additional picks. We have so many gaps to fill that if we cannot get Celebrini then we are better off securing additional picks in this or next year’s draft.

      (fellow sharks fan here) really stoked at the potential of making a big leap in our defensive prospect pool this year; with 4 picks in the top 50 there's a really good chance of us drafting two top 6 forwards and two top 4/5 dmen. Personally I wouldn't want to see us trade down if we get #3, I think they're going to know who they want in that tier of players left and because any of those guys could be taken at any spot other than #1 we could potentially lose the guy we want. Personally I think Dickinson is a bit of a reach at #3, I'd rather have Levshunov/Parekh/Buium at that spot. What I'm really interested in is who we take at #14 (assuming it doesn't move) because the most likely best options there are somewhat risky picks in Eiserman, Connelly, and Yakemchuk. It's gonna be a super exciting draft!!

      @@aserodriguez1425 I don't really see a trade happening, trades into the top 10 are pretty rare (not to mention the extremely high cost) and most of the teams who'd be willing to trade are playoff bubble teams looking for good players right now, which we don't really have or aren't willing to part with haha. Maybe Grier will work some magic, but I'm not anticipating us making any moves in the first round.

    I’m pretty hyped up with this year’s draft class. Lots of very good options on the top 15, heck, even in the later rounds there are quite a few prospects that also look good. Ottawa played to make improvements to there game and figure out what they need to do to improve. This isn't a team looking to rebuild its a team that needs to fix what they got. The core guys are already locked in. If anything they should just trade there pick for a right handed D and find some way to fix this mess in net.

    • @Amm17ar
      @Amm17ar 3 месяца назад

      @@jonhoban2326 Thats what we said last year....and the year before.....and the year before....and so on. Its not a market that can add great players in FA.. They need to draft and develop their talent and they don't do that. The way North American sports tends to work is you need to lose to win. When you hang out in no mans land you're doing something wrong. Sure you can find an impact player late in the draft, but you tend to find players like Crosby, McDavid, Bedard and so on at the top. These are guys that give you sustained success, direction and a player to build around. They keep trying shortcuts and temporary fixes, they'll trade draft picks for guys that don't end up sticking around, or guys past their prime vs just rebuilding the right way. As a fan, Im okay with tanking and losing.....but sustained losing? No.... well be going on 8 years since a playoff appearance... The draft lottery and process as a whole in North American sports ideally is designed for the teams at the top and bottom to rotate. You lose, you draft top talent, you rotate to the top as the better teams players get older, move on and so on. Obviously it doesn't exactly work like that in real life, but generally the concept still does hold true for the broader outlook. So with that in mind, a team sitting at the bottom or near the bottom for as long as Ottawa has speaks to bad choices being made in the key areas needed to rebuild. Id be perfectly happy to be proven wrong, but its not looking likely. Just cut the losses and improve odds. Sooner or later they're going to have to start pointing the fingers at the people making those decisions....instead of blaming players, firing coaches as scapegoats, the people making the decisions are the only ones left to blame after this long. Just a poorly run organization.

    This draft class is a bit weak, in my opinion. The only guys who appear to have real “NHL superstar” or legit top line potential are Celebrini, Demidov, Catton, Parekh, and Eiserman. Levshunov and Silayev are massively overrated. Dickinson has yet to show that he can put all his (admittedly impressive) tools together on a consistent basis despite being given every chance to do so in a proven London Knights program. Lindstrom is big and skilled and I understand the hype around a guy like that, but the sample size we have is WAY too small to put him in that category. Helenius, Buium, Iginla, Yakemchuk are all pretty much surefire NHLers, but they don’t blow anyone away like the 2023 heavy hitters did. It’s a meh draft class.
