I'm not into luxury footwear but I'm very drawn to Kurt Geiger sneakers. The price point is very agreeable and not high enough for me to start panicking over not being able to walk in them.

Minnie! I am SO proud of you. I have ONE wallet now and a handful of bags and luxury footwear. I have a one in and one out rule now. If I buy a bag I have to sell a bag - same with everything else - if I buy a sweater I have to get rid of a sweater in my closet. So I need to REALLY love something I am buying because it means I have to get rid of something else I really love in my closet. This rule applies to everything. And I only replace makeup if it empty. I recently renovated my house and used it as an opportunity to purge myself of excess everything - kitchen items,, decor items, candles - literally everything and it feels wonderful and gives me a sense of control.
I agree! You will get so much more buying from a local jeweler than you will from any fine jewelry house and most absolutely much better than a chain jewelry store. Once you find a local jeweler that you trust, you will be able to get so much more for your money than one of the large houses, and huge bonus…. You are supporting your community and the little guy!!! Win win!
I work at an independent, woman-owned jeweler, can confirm the experience is still luxurious, and the price always beats the designer markup. Plus you get custom work, repairs, personal service, etc! I also have more than enough right now. I know my "no buy" is working because I've had an Ulta giftcard in my wallet for a couple months and still have no plans to use it until I need to! I can’t spend $1250 on a .03 or .10 diamond in sterling silver. I ended up at Jared where I got 1 full carat diamond solitaire necklace and stud earrings in 18k white gold for $1200!
My downfall is card holders and pouches. I need to stop buying them too but when I feel down they are great pick me up. How many card holders and pouches I need is what I need to tell myself. ❤.
My cousin’s fiancé owns a diamond business. My cousin has worked for GIA for about two decades. They’re the reason that I stopped buying Tiffany, and my Cartier wishlist has gone nowhere. The fiancé makes replica Love bracelets and rings with and without diamonds. He says that his biggest customers are doctors. He guarantees that you can take them into Cartier and they won’t know the difference. The price difference is insane. You are right about it all.

He was disappointed by how tiny the aquamarine was in the necklace. I’m sure we could have gotten a bigger stone had we bought it from an independent jeweler.
lol I’m completely opposite. I don’t mind paying for luxury jewelry but don’t find it worth it to pay for luxury handbags as I find they will eventually go out of shape and out of style. My jewelry lasts me forever. I guess everyone has different preferences. I can’t find any piece in my local jewelers that look exactly the same as the Cartier de amour. I have the Large one and it’s sooo sparkly from different angles even though the diamond is small but I don’t mind it.

I would NEVER spend money on slgs lol. I have one! Is just not worth it. Handbags I can justify because you're putting your stuff in them. Shoes, extremely selective. Flip flops or anything that looks basic, absolutely not!
Me and Chanel nail polish need to break up. Caved in and bought Gucci mascara, brow pencil and bronzer, because the packaging is soooo pretttyyyy and I needed each item. Luckily the quality is good, but still I get exactly what you mean about pumping the breaks. Great video Minnie.

I do buy some luxury footwear but not a ton because i always scuff them up quickly, And they are not always the most comfortable.

I loved your video. It appears that you may have been thinking about this for a while before you brought it to us live. Thank you for doing that and thats what makes you great! My recommendation is to maybe sell some of your things you have an overflow of....as you mentioned you have done that. I would continue with that but to include everything. Downsize and then go from there.
Jewelry is totally different than handbags shoes and clothes. I understand your feelings. The style factor for fine jewelry is generally less than fashion items.
I agree, designer jewelry is over priced. It should be 24 karat for the prices they charge. Designer perfume and makeup is the same as regular cosmetics. SLG’s are over priced and should be substituted with regular slgs. And regular shoes are more stylish and less flashy than designer shoes.
I'm the same with slgs, I love them and I don't want to stop but I've got so many. I do want to find a Chanel o'case in white and then I think I'll be priced out of their pouches. I'm going to try and not buy any card holders this year and just enjoy the ones I have 😂 I much prefer SLGs to handbags, they are for me, no one even sees them but me.

Hi Minnie, You totally hit the nail on the head for 'paying for a name' Ive been thinking alot more lately about pieces Im adding & have realized that I love finding smaller brands which are t too crazy popular & not too crazy expensive (the again I am also on my Hermes journey for a bag 😅) but putting that whole experience aside, I do see myself reconsidering buying something from a designer just because its from THAT designer. I really want to also shop my closet this year, everytime I look I come up with 10 looks that Ive never worn but the again I always add new pieces so I really want to stop & enjoy what I have! For diamonds ii would always go to a small family jewellers. In the UK either Hatton Garden in London or (more reasonably IMO) the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham. Pick your diamond, pick what you want and they’ll make it for you I still want a plain Cartier Love bracelet though 😂

With all that said, want to share your pouch collection? Lol. I’m pretty good about not buying lux jewelry or anything over $1k. Mainly because I would like the full set and that together is a handbag. 😮 (which I’d prefer.) I too have one too many lipsticks for my use level but I’m going to buy 1 more red. It’s a newish color I’m wearing and love but would need to swatch my arm of my own red-tones before going to the store to make sure I don’t replicate it. Was going to get an LV fragrance this weekend but I have a lot of full options in my current collection. Mostly rollerballs but still fragrances to enjoy/test. If I finish min 2, I will consider adding one. New to Tom Ford- love bitter peach. Might try to smell Lost Cherry. 😂 Great video!

I love, love, love your affirmation concerning shoes 🤩. I've never bought luxury shoes, but I'm now at a point in life where I'm fine with wearing sneakers 99% of the time (except winter). It's all about being comfortable and wearing something that will hurt you or simply just doesn't make you feel yourself isn't worth it 😊. And yes, I'm a "lip care product" junky, too 😂. The same happens with hand cream (packaging, flavour, feeling addiction) 😅.

I agree with you regarding luxury fine jewelry. Most jewelry loses a lot of value when it leaves the store anyway (similar to a new car). If you’re planning on keeping all your fine jewelry, it makes much more sense to avoid the luxury brands. Luxury cosmetics is also another area where it’s not always worth it to spend money. Often luxury cosmetics are loaded with strong fragrance, and the colors aren’t that special. Unless you want the status of pulling out a Chanel lipstick from your bag or your perfect foundation happens to be in the Armani color range, more often than not it’s a waste of money. Especially the ultra-expensive brands like Valentino cosmetics. Some of their pricing is downright abusive.

Fragrance can go bad so it's smart to limit your collection. Like you I'm always attracted to SLGs because they're cute and cheaper than a bag. So far, I've been good about resisting!
I feel the same, since becoming a mom of 2 I have realized the same bags I loved and used with no kids sometimes don't work with mom life. Since I carry the diaper bag more, I have started to dive into my SLG a lot more.

BUT with handbags, you said you didn’t know what it was , it’s the quality of the bags ! Yes we can go to a lower price designer and get the same style but not the quality ( hopefully). Regarding the shoes , I have the classic basic designer ones , Chanel espadrilles and Gucci Princeton but girl you’re gonna have to pry my Gucci slides out of my cold dead hands! 💯 agree on jewelry. Personally I LOVE vintage/estate jewelry. One of a kind, unique finds that I reach for daily. Well worth the price ❤️ and I love the thrill of the hunt 😉 But, for me YSL boots are my holy grail - gorgeous and SO comfortable, like they were made just for me. I have 10 pair 😂
I both love luxury and non-luxury jewelry. They have different pros. First and foremost, you can sometimes buy non-luxury jewerly just for the cost of the material especially when you buy pre-owned. At the same time, I really appreciate the service that luxury houses provide. In most cases, jewelry can be repaired and recover their original shape unlike leather goods. You have to pay some amount of money but still the original company that made your piece take care of it, which is wonderful!
It’s such a special experience designing and having a piece of jewellery made, especially if you find a jeweller who has a similar aesthetic and understands your vision. I have repurposed some old family jewelry that was just sitting in a jewellery box. For one Christmas I used some diamonds to make solitaire necklaces for myself and two daughters. They were so surprised. We rarely take them off:) Much more special than the over exposed love bracelet etc IMO.
Absolutely!! The one-of-a-kind pieces make my heart sing louder than anything else. I bet those necklaces will become family heirloom pieces that will be passed down to their families 🥹♥️
I have been tempted to buy the luxury jewelry. I really like to purchase vintage gold or platinum jewelry because it is so unique. Some of the pieces I have purchased from a reseller/store have a story and it has special meaning to me when I wear it. Also, the jewelry that was handed down from my mother and grandmother mean so much to me. I never gave in to the luxury jewelry you see in soo many videos.
Totally Agee! I used to get every Dior beauty because of their pretty packaging and free pouches. I decided to stop buying these😂. Makeup is expired and there are many pouches I have never used😂.
The lipstick chat made me laugh because that’s me; I’m on a lipstick no buy this year too. Same two shades but I need a matte one, gloss one, luminous one, longwear one etc. 🤦🏻♀️. I’m currently taken by Chantecaille’s latest offering but I will remain strong 😅. The perfume will be there next year too so no hurry to buy.
I agree with you on the designer jewelry-I just had an issue with a David Yurman piece I’ve owned for many years. If I had been dealing with a small jeweler, it never would’ve happened the way it did. And there truly is something special about supporting a small and local business

I loved your video. It appears that you may have been thinking about this for a while before you brought it to us live. Thank you for doing that and thats what makes you great! My recommendation is to maybe sell some of your things you have an overflow of....as you mentioned you have done that. I would continue with that but to include everything. Downsize and then go from there.

I agree, designer jewelry is over priced. It should be 24 karat for the prices they charge.
Designer perfume and makeup is the same as regular cosmetics. SLG’s are over priced and should be substituted with regular slgs. And regular shoes are more stylish and less flashy than designer shoes.
I'm the same with slgs, I love them and I don't want to stop but I've got so many. I do want to find a Chanel o'case in white and then I think I'll be priced out of their pouches. I'm going to try and not buy any card holders this year and just enjoy the ones I have 😂 I much prefer SLGs to handbags, they are for me, no one even sees them but me.

Hi Minnie, You totally hit the nail on the head for 'paying for a name' Ive been thinking alot more lately about pieces Im adding & have realized that I love finding smaller brands which are t too crazy popular & not too crazy expensive (the again I am also on my Hermes journey for a bag 😅) but putting that whole experience aside, I do see myself reconsidering buying something from a designer just because its from THAT designer.
I really want to also shop my closet this year, everytime I look I come up with 10 looks that Ive never worn but the again I always add new pieces so I really want to stop & enjoy what I have!

For diamonds ii would always go to a small family jewellers. In the UK either Hatton Garden in London or (more reasonably IMO) the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham. Pick your diamond, pick what you want and they’ll make it for you

I too have one too many lipsticks for my use level but I’m going to buy 1 more red. It’s a newish color I’m wearing and love but would need to swatch my arm of my own red-tones before going to the store to make sure I don’t replicate it. Was going to get an LV fragrance this weekend but I have a lot of full options in my current collection. Mostly rollerballs but still fragrances to enjoy/test. If I finish min 2, I will consider adding one. New to Tom Ford- love bitter peach. Might try to smell Lost Cherry. 😂

I love, love, love your affirmation concerning shoes 🤩. I've never bought luxury shoes, but I'm now at a point in life where I'm fine with wearing sneakers 99% of the time (except winter). It's all about being comfortable and wearing something that will hurt you or simply just doesn't make you feel yourself isn't worth it 😊. And yes, I'm a "lip care product" junky, too 😂. The same happens with hand cream (packaging, flavour, feeling addiction) 😅.

I agree with you regarding luxury fine jewelry. Most jewelry loses a lot of value when it leaves the store anyway (similar to a new car). If you’re planning on keeping all your fine jewelry, it makes much more sense to avoid the luxury brands.
Luxury cosmetics is also another area where it’s not always worth it to spend money. Often luxury cosmetics are loaded with strong fragrance, and the colors aren’t that special. Unless you want the status of pulling out a Chanel lipstick from your bag or your perfect foundation happens to be in the Armani color range, more often than not it’s a waste of money. Especially the ultra-expensive brands like Valentino cosmetics. Some of their pricing is downright abusive.

Fragrance can go bad so it's smart to limit your collection. Like you I'm always attracted to SLGs because they're cute and cheaper than a bag. So far, I've been good about resisting!

I totally agree . And I get with the jewelry especially. What it is is buy the style that makes your heart happy despite the brand . BUT with handbags, you said you didn’t know what it was , it’s the quality of the bags ! Yes we can go to a lower price designer and get the same style but not the quality ( hopefully). Regarding the shoes , I have the classic basic designer ones , Chanel espadrilles and Gucci Princeton but girl you’re gonna have to pry my Gucci slides out of my cold dead hands! With that being said Steve Madden is doing it for me with his sandals ( especially the Mayven which is an Hermes style !)

Agree with you. Give love to things we have. Omg in shoes I hear you comfort first happy feet. Around 2014 I was in a store looking at shoes. Saw Chanel ballerina shoes. Pick them up they felt so hard I told the sell guy. Wow they don’t have no cushion. He told me does are site down shoes not walking. I live in New York City we walk. Love how they look but I left them. Also had the Chanel slide pump sold them where to big . The only 2 shoes I have are flat slide pump from Chanel. And a pair of Lara piano shoes love them. I both love luxury and non-luxury jewelry. They have different pros. First and foremost, you can sometimes buy non-luxury jewerly just for the cost of the material especially when you buy pre-owned. At the same time, I really appreciate the service that luxury houses provide. In most cases, jewelry can be repaired and recover their original shape unlike leather goods. You have to pay some amount of money but still the original company that made your piece take care of it, which is wonderful!

It’s such a special experience designing and having a piece of jewellery made, especially if you find a jeweller who has a similar aesthetic and understands your vision. I have repurposed some old family jewelry that was just sitting in a jewellery box. For one Christmas I used some diamonds to make solitaire necklaces for myself and two daughters. They were so surprised. We rarely take them off:)
Much more special than the over exposed love bracelet etc IMO.

I have been tempted to buy the luxury jewelry. I really like to purchase vintage gold or platinum jewelry because it is so unique. Some of the pieces I have purchased from a reseller/store have a story and it has special meaning to me when I wear it. Also, the jewelry that was handed down from my mother and grandmother mean so much to me. I never gave in to the luxury jewelry you see in soo many videos.
