Not to diminish Marley's talent, but EC's covering of this tune brought Marley, and reggae for that matter, to international attention, and was probably the most fortuitous thing that ever happened to them both (Bob Marley, and reggae, that is).

    Second chord is incorrect, at least compared to Eric Clapton's version.
    Because Eric Clapton does not play a Cmin chord, but an Eb chord

    • @desisernaguitar
      @desisernaguitar 4 года назад

      A Tutto Rock The second chord is most definitely a C minor chord. You can clearly hear a C in the bass and the rest of the C minor intervals in the instrumentation. Maybe you are confusing Cm7 with an Eb? They share notes and have similar fingerings.

    • @atuttorock3308
      @atuttorock3308 4 года назад

      I've seen and heard how Eric Clapton plays it. But there are many who get it wrong, perhaps because there are many incorrect scores and tabs around

    • @desisernaguitar
      @desisernaguitar 4 года назад

      @@atuttorock3308 You are mistaking Clapton’s Cm7 fingering for an Eb chord. Watch the following video closely (slow it down to .25%). ruclips.net/video/APWhx97QvxE/видео.html He’s placing his pinky on G at the 5th fret of the 4th string, which is the 5th of the Cm7 chord. His remaining fingers are in the form of a “D” shape, which completes the rest of the Cm7 chord shape. He is also holding G in the bass, so technically he’s playing Cm7/G. But as soon as the bass player comes in, you hear C during that chord. My tab includes a regular Cm because I simplified the chords and the strum pattern to their most basic forms. I do this to make it easier for people to learn. I do not intend my lesson to be a note for note transcription.

    "The key of G minor" looool...
    That had me in stitches. Dude a "key" of a song refers to the tonic note, and therefore the key is never "major" or "minor" in itself. Tonic chords within the key can be major or minor. There is no such thing as the "Key of G minor". This song is in the Key of B♭ and the chord progression of the rhythm part in the beginning is the 6th degree (B Minor), the 2nd degree (C Minor) and the 3rd degree (D minor).
    Teaching people to think of the 6th degree as the "key" then to shift other chord degrees to be relative to that is wrong. Don't teach that.

    • @God0Mighty1
      @God0Mighty1 5 лет назад +3

      If there is no such think as the key of G minor, then how could you have something like "Concerto in G minor" ? There are all kinds of "Concerto in G minor" "Concerto in B minor" Symphony in A minor" "Sonata in D minor" etc. All of that is wrong?

    Tab is such a pain in the arse, for all the work involved to learn how it relates to the guitar you may as well learn how to read music. There's way more information held on notation than tab. Of course you need to apply yourself with discipline. but you'll never look back. If you can read music closed doors will be opened you'll get those session jobs that you never thought you could get and lots of other stuff
