I absolutely love this. ❤ You hit the nail on the head. People always see your art supplies and think WOW... you spend SO much on just art stuff... Yes I do. Because it's a huge passion of mine. And like you, I saved up for years and years to collect and slowly buy a collection of supplies that would make my younger self SO jealous. But it's well worth it. This video was amazing to be able to see your own collection and also see some new items I've never seen before. As always, such a good video! 🤗
Yeah, same thing here. Drawing is my passion, so I do spend on it - but to be honest, lately I've been only drawing while commuting to work, so the huuuuge amount of money I already spent on art supplies will last me another decade or so 😆

I highly agree with what you said at the end of your video. I felt that you had to buy the best to be the best, I end up with $300 worth of drawing supplies and I was afraid of even using them because I didn’t know how to use them. Started off small, $1.25 for a 4H 2H B 2B 4B. Then after a bit of time ( about 5 months), I bought 94 blenders and started to mess around with them, then moved on to my good shading pencils, which was a set of 5H-6B, now I’m using more expensive ones, in the process I’ve not wasted any of my supplies.

It would be helpful to have a list of your supplies by their importance. Maybe a tier list format would be fun. It is just hard to know what supplies to start with as a beginner.
I love your videos, as an aspiring manga artist they have helped me tremendously. Also to all beginners from my own experience: If you want to find the perfect pen or pencil just follow these easy steps. step 1: take all you pencils/pens. step 2: test out the pens and see what you like the most. step 3: If in the rare case step 2 produced garbage, go to a stationary and buy something drawing related there. I ink with a ballpoint pen, and it's fine. My sister has nicer dip pens, but I draw just as good with a ballpoint as with her best pens. And if your digital, practice on paper and save up for a tablet with a screen. I hate the screen less types you might as well work on paper or buy a pen for you phone at that point. I bought a 15 inch XP-pen tablet used for less than 200 bucks and it works great. And those are my super exclusive expensive drawing supplies.

Check the clearance section of your nearest arts and crafts store. You can find really high quality art supplies for really cheap sometimes.

My question is- how does one find their own ‘style’? By this I mainly mean what are some tips to go from standard drawings into simpler or more complex versions.
I’m struggling since I want to draw my Dragonborn sorcerer, but my tendency is to be too realistic when I want something simpler and ‘quicker’ (I lol) for say a RUclips vid.

I have use water color paint back at school once. At first it was difficult but I learn pretty quickly and think's to your water color video it help and I may go paint with water color again soon. ......like a sir or student or painter?
I have a small number of these, and had bought both faber castel and prismacolor's sets. figure there's a use for both of them somewhere along the lines. Holiday or christmas, or just I had the extra money at the time. I dabbled in copics with a few little things. Years since I did anything... now I'm slowly trying to get back to it.

Hello 🙂I have started drawing again after a long time, and it feels relaxing like it used to. However, I am struggling with sketching. I feel the need to finish the drawing till the end (shades and all). Any advice on how to "force" yourself to do to simple sketches?

I keep wanting to try dip pens and then I remember I literally have 3 fountain pens with multiple calligraphy nibs, and it's my opinion that if you can use a tool for writing, you can use it for drawing. I have yet to be proven wrong.
I will say, I highly prefer using bristol paper to deleter paper. If anything, I'll just cut the bristol down to match the deleter paper size if needed.
I also use india ink since the pigment is so concentrated and it's waterproof. Only thing is that you have to consistently clean your nib as you draw since it dries so fast lol.

i use crayola pencils and watercolor and cheap ballpoint pens to practice and the more expensive stuff for special drawings

After watching one of your videos, I invested in a dip pen, and I'm trying to get better at hatching. But when I use a ruler and dip pen (I have tried G-nib and Maru-nib), for some reason, the ink ends up on the ruler rather than the paper, and I make a huge mess. I'm a complete newbie, so it might be obvious to others, but I don't get why it happens, even do I make sure that the inkwell is facing away from the ruler.
@lucadorottyapihaj7413 Rotring isograph sets come with a ruler and its basically got an extra part on the underside that raises the bed of the ruler away from the paper, the problem is because the ruler is touching the paper it will attract to the ruler and stick to it causing smudge lines, maybe look into the "mechanical ruler", side of things.
