I'm 70 and have eaten carnivore for over 4 years. I work out in a gym usually 2 hours a day. I expect I will escape the assisted living home for a while. The nursing homes situation is the result of 60 years of propaganda from the government, medical and food industries and some religious groups. My mum is 82 and I am pushing meat on her. She still eats sweets but she has reduced them and knows they are bad but she is eating 1000% more meat than she would get in a nursing h9me. I used to work in nursing homes and I promised my parents that they would never end up in one. My dad died 17 years ago and I reiterated my promise to look after mum and I think that eased his mind. My mum recently sold her house, she lived in the country about a 4 hour drive away, and built a “granny flat” in my back yard.

My father started working out in the gym at 16 to correct his obesity. After the army he continued working out and eating low carb, no sugar. He grew up in the meat business, became a meat inspector and then worked as a butcher in the family biz. We always had great cuts of meat....leg of lamb, rib roasts etc. Through his 40s 50s and early 60s he ate steak and veg for dinner, big salad with blue cheese for lunch and coffee for breakfast. He worked out played tennis and loved trending his huge yard. In his late 60s his doctor convinced him to go low fat, nonfat, sugar free....all the heart healthy crap. He ended up with dementia mid 80s, died at 89 in very nice memory care place that served fruit juice, pudding, cookies, cake, pancakes, waffles, cereal, pasta, casseroles etc. He maintained his preferred diet of eggs and sausage/ bacon for breakfast, chicken Ceasars salad or hamburger patties and salad for lunch and protein and veg for dinner. I'm convinced his dementia was brought on by all the artificial sweeteners in his diet coke, diet fudge bars, nonfat dressings and a major lack of healthy fats. He only ate skinless chicken breast and the leanest steaks he could get. I believe type 3 diabetes is for real and the nonfat craze has starved a lot of brains

I eventually got off sweets by limiting them to weekends and a couple of events a month. I did go overboard at times but eventually I experienced that life was better with less; I didn’t enjoy them as much, certainly not enough to justify how they crowded out real nutrients since I just don’t have the capacity to eat the amounts I used to. My 83 year old mother is currently staying with me for a few months (she lives over seas and, as I'm unjabbed, I couldn't travel to see her for the last few years) and I have been gradually increasing her meat and fat intake over the last few weeks. She's had numerous serious health issues over the last 2 years (possibly jab related) and still got covid a few weeks ago. (I looked after her, took no precautions and didn't get sick...) This morning she was up before me and wanting to come with me on my morning dog walk. She ate a huge breakfast and then stated that she hadn't felt this well in a long time. Coincidence? She believes in the propagandised low meat, low fat diet so I'll just keep adding meat and fat until she notices! I'm a 3 year keto/carnivore and thriving.

@@traceydooling3189 Falls are often “syncope” episodes.
Syncope is a split-second “brain blackout”, which causes the person to either get “glued to the nearest wall”, or end up on the floor, not clear how they got there.
What I recently figured out, is that certain medications, including the wrong thyroid pill, can cause syncope. Removing those drugs, often stops the syncope.
Have you checked her meds for that reaction? Have you talked w/her doc about that likelihood?
What flavors did she most like (savory? Sour? Sweet? Salty?)
What textures did she like most?
For increasing protein: what kinds of meats did she used to like?
Find sources of pastured meats, & pastured eggs.
In our area, places like grocery outlet, has saved us greatly off of grocery store prices. Our grocery outlet store has consistently tries to stock grass-fed, no antibiotic meats, & Uncured (no nitrates) bacon, & some pastured eggs. We find lower prices on cream cheese, sour cream-but, they rarely have organic dairy…we also shop the local CoOp grocery, to find organic local grow, dairy, eggs & meats, too.
Use recipes that give her the flavor & texture preference she’s always liked most, at least to start. Keep it as simple as you can.
If you need to chop everything into tiny bits, it can help eating it.
If she likes soups, make soups.
If she feels she has to have potatoes or rice…cook those, then chill in fridge, THEN rewarm it-that turns the starches in those, into “resistant” starch-meaning, it’s much harder to absorb the starches from those….but on a carnivore diet, it’s still starches, so, find substitutes, like cauliflower.
Replace sweetening agents with a combo of stevia & monk fruit-find ones that are ONLY those-AVOID additives like maltodextrose, dextrose, erythritol, etc.
Salt needs to be natural…sea salt, Himalayan pink salt, etc….NEVER the purified “table salt”.
A good, mixed collagen bone broth powder can very much help.
Look for one that has multiple types of collagen/bone broth, like I, II, III, IV, from bovine, poultry, & fish bone sources.
One scoop is about 10 grams of protein. It’s a neutral flavor, so can easily be added to coffee, tea, or smoothies made of dark green leafy veggies & antioxidant berries.
Look for Ghee-it’s essentially clarified butter, you can make yourself, or even get it from Costco-that has a long shelf-life at room temp.
I like one from Mt.Capra; they also have numerous products made from pastured organic goat milk. They make a mineral whey powder too, that helps give needed minerals chronically missing from most folks’ diets.
Also, virgin organic coconut oil-long shelf-life, & contains elements that help stop & reverse dementias & other things.
If she’s willing to add kelps to her meat sauces, those are highly nutritious-or, can get tableted Icelandic kelp, if she hates the taste of kelps.
But powdered kelps come in wide variety, & have varying flavors & nutritional content…but all have pretty much all the minerals we are otherwise lacking.
One easy recipe we like, is to pan “sauté” a protein, in about a Tblsp. of ghee or coconut oil, w/onions & mushrooms, maybe celery, in water or broth. When the protein & vegges are almost cooked, I add a cup or 2 of water or broth, & let it simmer til cooked.
Once cooked, I add a Tblsp or 2 of Nutritional yeast, & about the same of either tapioca starch powder (depends on how much water is in pan), or, about a tsp. or 2 of agar powder, to thicken…this is when I also add kelp powder or flakes, a Tblsp or 2….stir to disburse & thicken into a broth.
Lastly, I adjust the saltiness w/tamari sauce-or Himalayan pink salt, because we like those.
The nutritional yeast gives B-vits, & some minerals, most need it.
I keep a jar of Vit. C powder near the cooking area, to adjust the sour notes in foods. When you properly adjust the sour, salty, fat & sweet notes in a recipe, it tastes MUCH better! It also helps provide needed Vit. C.
Ketogenic diets need vitamin C added, unless you are eating fresh organ meats only lightly cooked. Muscle meats lack enough Vit. C.
We also like poached eggs…but on a keto diet, regular bread is a no-no.
But we sometimes cheat & use an organic whole grain sourdo toast, or, put the poached eggs on a nest of quinoa.
      We like deviled eggs, too.
And we eat 3 or 4 eggs at a time.
The bone broths/collagen powders, the mineral whey powders, make drinking our protein easy, too-especially if we need to hurry out the door & run errands. We use shaker cups with easily sealed sip-lids, to prevent spills. Ours have a loop on top to ease carrying it.
      Hope that helps!

    • @Chimonger1
      @Chimonger1 2 года назад +8

      Oh…forgot…
I make a pudding from chia &/or flax seeds + coconut milk or hemp milk, & whatever spices we want, & sweeten w/stevia & monk fruit powders (Amzn). Sometimes I blenderize the seeds for a finer texture, or, leave them whole to allow chewing. If teeth issues, blenderize them!
About 4 Tblsp. seeds + about a cup of a milk liquid, sets up into a pudding consistency-you might need to play with proportions.
Or, we got premade seed puddings like this from our local CoOp grocery-they are shelf-stable til opened, & single-serving-so might also be available online. Our store Carrie’s vanilla or chocolate….but they use sugar-so, I make it at home, to use stevia & monk fruit, instead….& get different flavors. You could also add nuts, & some dried berries.

I opted ketovore (mostly carnivore) in August. Saw my mom (age 84) about a month ago and she couldn't believe the difference in my overall health, with the perk of weight loss, and asked for all my information on how to do this way of eating. Went on to explain the healthy benefits of losing all the sugar and processed foods, and now she is trying to eat this way too to maintain her health. She lives in a seniors condo building, and has seen a lot of her friends deteriorate and die due to health issues, so is very keen on being healthy and active as long as she is able. Great informative video. Thank you!!!

I am legal guardian of my 90 year old mother in a nursing home. She is on ZERO prescriptions due to me weaning her off of them 11+ years ago. It’s ridiculous what I have to go thru to get a supplement added (like Vit d) or to make a dietary change like “low carb, high fat.” Asking to change her to carnivore would most likely be an effort of futility and cause way too much stress on the “nutritionist.” Let her eat steak!!

The last nursing home I worked, most of the nurses ignored the “as-needed” doses of things like acidophilus to stop diarrhea, & only one doc who bothered to RX CoQ10 , only RXd a measly 10 Mg. His reasoning was, it was too costly for the family to afford therapeutic doses needed for a heart patient….even though CoQ10 was listed in the PDR (drug book), so Medicare could cover some of the cost.
There’s every appearance that the commercial “healthcare” industries are in it for maximizing profits, NOT to actually help the clients.

Worse, most folks, including elders, are deficient in magnesium-especially if they have heart dysrhythmias, or ANY kinds of muscle spasms, twitches, or contractures….simply give them magnesium threonate, as that form helps the nervous system best-but, can even use cheap Epsom salts as a laxative (used reliably for over 120 years!)….
…but Nooooo….they can’t be bothered to do that, because it’s not feeding PharmaChem, & insurance does not cover what does not feed that industry.
Stuff like that, was why I went into traditional/Alt.healthcare, as some of my female forebears had.

My initial denial of alcoholism evaporated when I heard a counsellor casually mention how many of the worst alcoholics were severe sugar addicts as children. As a child I existed on sugar. I haven't thought about alcohol since I got sober, but I thought about sugar EVERY DAY. That is, until I went on a carnivore diet 3 months ago, with one day per week of fruits and veggies (for a protein fast for autophagy). I will incorporate more veggies as I see fit, but limit fruit to 1day per week. I never even think about eating anymore! My weight is stable for the first time in my life. My brain fog is gone! They said after a surgical intervention, that he would be fine but would need to go into a nursing home just for a few weeks. My Mom had already passed way back in 2003, so he was alone. I thought he was in good hands, but as soon as I left his health deteriorated again suddenly & then he was gone. I wish I would have stayed and personally nursed him back to good health, even taken him with me back to my home. I myself just discovered the Keto diet right after his passing. I‘ll never know if I could have made a difference. So if your elderly parents are needing assistance, please consider Keto or Carnivore for them & yes - take charge, find a good holistic doctor that knows how to De-Prescribe meds. I do believe it was all the drugs and bad food that killed my father. His parents lived into their 90‘s and I‘m sure he would have had at least 5 more yrs.

I felt like I couldnt do my job and feel good about it. But I have watched for a change in things and an opportunity to work in an environment that actually helped our elders. My own mom is 82 abd in LTC right now. She is being fed trash as well. Im unable to move her in with me. I am so impressed with this mans testimony. Great interview - and Hal, God bless you! I am taking care of my 85 yo mother and after the cvd shot (against my advice) she began to have pretty serious memory issues and accelerated physical decline after a near death congestive heart failure crisis. For about a month now I have been giving her meat and fat with very small amounts of carbs. It's as if something has been reconnected; she's grounded ; less fractured is the best way I can describe it. It's only been 5-6 weeks. She still eats her favorite breakfast - bowl of oatmeal with berries, raisins, etc (too much sugar)... and I suspect if I were to change that to eggs in the morning she'd improve even more. As it makes her life better it makes my life better - taking care of a parent in decline takes a lot out of you so I am so grateful to these carnivore pioneers for breaking through the lies and reaching the rest of us for the betterment of our collective future.

I felt SO bloated & horrible on Monday that I thought I better clean up my diet for a week or two. I decided on ketovore. After a few days I felt so much better. After 2 weeks my crippling joint pain disappeared! I walked with a limo and a cane for over a year and now I put the cane away!!! I researched this & found out that it’s common on keto and carnivore for joint pain to go away. I’m never going back to fast food. I feel way too good!

Result lost 8kg all blood work came back excellent. 12 months ago I had elevated liver and low vitamin D. 3rd year since breast cancer surgery/radiation treatment with all clear results Bowl test negative. I'm feeling fantastic walking every day & intermittent fasting with no alcohol. The doctor was pleased but still needed to lose 7kg. When the body is carb-loaded there is a significant amount of water retention, resulting in swollen limbs and waistline. I just came off a one-week cruise, eating low-carb, high meat, skipping breakfast but 4-5 meals and enjoying 5-8 desserts per day. The 12 hours after I got off the ship, I went to pee every three hours despite barely drinking any water at all, and with no food intake. I was shocked how much water is retained with my carb intake for just one week.
