So cool ! thanks for this convincing interpretation, the quality of recording, and the color of your shirt ! You make me want to play this piece ! Please continue to defend this kind of music ! love you
Beautiful playing!! The monstrous difficulty is apparent from watching your hands, but not from listening to you play it. A very human and musical performance!
well done! u show a great range of colors and tempers. many thx for performing and posting this difficult piece of music. like the archaic power of the music by xenakis! he and mr. kounellis are the titans of the greek modernism. it's a pity that they couldn't develope their vulcanic energy in their own country!
regardless original score or not this was impressive nd Crystal Clear crisp playing of wht must be some of the most difficult in the entire piano lit to perform....
It always baffles me how the first few seconds are almost clearly tonal and sound like some kind of approachable techno / house music from the 90s. Is it just a coincidence?
Christopher Pérez the very beginning consists only of the notes C D E F G A (first 6 notes of a C Major Scale) and Eb, so it's no surprize that it sounds fairly tonal
Does anyone get enjoyment out of this type of music? I came here from a post on pianoworld where it said it was one of the most difficult pieces of music ever written for the piano. But what it has in difficulty it lacks in beauty, in my opinion. I find it hard to believe that this piece was listed next to the Listz Sonata, or Chopin's 2nd Sonata, to name a few.
Xenakis saw originality, inventiveness as real and honest beauty. And because his style differs more from 'the repertoire', there will be less people who like it (making sense, statistically).
Quite to the contrary... I heard this piece live some time ago and to date it remains probably the most powerful musical experience I've ever had. Xenakis' disconnection from pathos and traditional containment allows the energy of his music to be absolutely direct. Or to elaborate a bit further: Why people find it ugly at first is - I believe - because there is no pre-established basis. If you're listening, say, to a romantic sonata, after several notes are played, a scale is established and you get to know the mood of the piece in advance WITHOUT ACTUALLY HAVING TO KNOW IT. No such device is active in here and the listener has nothing to latch on at first. When reliance on traditional, established means is subverted, people often mistake it for ugliness. While the real difference is that the material at hand is much more direct and self-reliant.
There is an essay on this piece by Marc Couroux, available at web.archive.org/web/20081121163908/pages.infinit.net/kore/xenakistamingfull.html that quite well explains Xenakis' motivations to compose it.
sltflsh wtf does that mean ? You don’t get Mozart? We don’t have to see a message underneath a piece to enjoy and understand its genius. You mean to tell me you “don’t get” the genius of Mozart? Have you ever heard his piano sonatas??? I’m shocked
When I was at the psych-ward, last year, they had a group-where everyone-was allowed to play their own choice of music: I chose this one (specifically this video), and it was clear, that my taste-was-unapologetically relentless.
I have perfect pitch and didn't like it very much the first time I listened to it, but on my second listen I actually really liked it. This is coming from someone who really doesn't like Xenakis' "Herma", but enjoys a lot of other atonal music.
This is the first human interpretation of this piece I've enjoyed. Fantastic job!
Thanks a lot!

This is just so good. I'm really amazed at how clean & complete this sounds. Great job!
Lovely playing. Great piece
Fantastic performance of one of the piano works of my favourite composer, Xenakis!! Very much enjoyed it!
Superb technique, control and artistry, but most of all admirable courage in this excellent piece.
Keep your musical way challenging!
It reflects the spirit of the 20th Century, a demystified chaos
An impressive piece of playing. Great to listen to, and to watch. Congrats !
So wonderful to hear this music done so properly - control - acumen - the way this piece was meant to be.
It's good to know that this piece can be played by someone who isn't named Takahashi. ;-)
Seriously, brilliant job.
Bravo! Great energy. Thank you for this!
Great job. 1st time for me to see this performed live. Many thanks!

You did the best

Christopher Kuwahara there are a lot of moments when it sounds very much tonal.
Christopher Pérez the very beginning consists only of the notes C D E F G A (first 6 notes of a C Major Scale) and Eb, so it's no surprize that it sounds fairly tonal
and yet the more I hear Evryali , it’s evident how that opening paragraph is never all that far from the surface of the rest of the piece.
Bravo.
Admiration
Still can't process the fact that this was written by the same composer who wrote Herma lol

This music is beautiful... but some people will never get it unfortunately...
It's like how i don't get Mozart

I wonder if I’d hate this more if I had perfect pitch🤨
Antony Gonzalez Maybe less
