      That fuckin song was rocking arenas around the world for 25 minutes straight in 2011-2012. Fuck making $10M, if I didnt even see $10 grand I dunno if I woulda had the perseverance to keep doing some shit that I love to do, that people just shitted on in front of the whole world

    As a writer myself, I'm glad to see him getting this interview. It sucks the types of deals that are out there. All artists do you due diligence and don't be afraid to discuss options with anyone offering you anything. Leverage exists!! Best of luck!!

    I remember reading an interview with Naughty By Nature back in the 90s. When asked about what they had learned about the music business,Treach pointed out that the main thing was to sign no papers without having a lawyer look them over first.
    So get an entertainment attorney early and let them review all contracts.

    He had leverage when it was industry knowledge that he was a Drake ghostwriter. If he was that much enamored with The Dream, he should’ve worked directly alongside him and his management team. It’s truly unfortunate. He had all the leverage he ever needed being that connected to Drake. He sees now he had options. 🚨

      He was listed as a co-writer on most of the songs he wrote with Drake. Drake even thanks him in the liner notes. He was never a ghostwriter. Even he despises that title. Meek and Drama screwed him over. They threw him under the bus.

    These days, labels need to know you can market yourself because it’s less risk with they money. I understand signing, but when you sign…it’s a glorified 9-5, but you working 24-7 and it’s becomes your life instead of clocking out…ya don’t clock out. Moral of the story, learn the business side before you make these choices. The Dream got his business right, that’s why he got what he got.
