Darrell has the best job. He gets free guitars. He plays AWESOME guitars. And he gets paid to do it.
see what practicing gets ya?
You can do it to, his marketing is the nice guy, regular guy you can trust and relate to. It’s no accident it’s all business.
His personality and mindset are beautiful.
We create our own fortune...or not!
@@mikec6733 Oh! you ate all of that self-help/business crap... I am truly sorry.
What first looks like just another Strat is anything but!

@Gloopy McScoop oh, Gloopy!
Not a household name but built many production guitars for many big companies.
Yep sterligs, prs se’s... they are made by cort factory
I want one where can I buy one
There is a Cort I could swear was an Ibanez SZ other than headstock.
For years and years people say that. But they build pretty good guitars under their own name for quite some time now
@Deleting RUclips isn’t easy. not 100% sure but I think so, they are made in indonesia, most of the “budget” line guitars from big brands come from the indonesian cor-tek factory, I might be wrong on sterlings tho 🤷🏻♂️
Cort has been seriously been stepping up their game. Tried one of their metal style guitars a while back at a guitar store, very awesome!
Which model (I definitely understand if you don’t remember)?! ☯️
@@gregorywilson3318 Have a look at their KX series for the more "metal" lineup. The specs looks great on paper.
@@strumminronin Thanx!!! ☯️
I have a cort source which is their version of Gibson 335. Sounds like I spent thousands of dollars more. The Craftsman ship isn't as top notch as the Gibson, but there's no way I could justify the cost of uograding
Another superb review. Thank you Darryl. I love my Cort X6-SM that I have. I had it recommended to me by the guys in the shop and I've never regretted it.
Wow! What a beautiful top on that guitar! That sounds as good as the Pacifica. The tones were huge.
I have nothing but praise for Cort. I’ve owned some of their acoustics and they’re fantastic too. The MR710F acoustic stands up to high end acoustics really well. I had a matching pair - the 6 & 12 string variant of that model. Both were great :)
I've always found them, Cort, to have great looking fit and finish and a high quality appearance.
I am impressed. You can not fix fit and finish but you can upgrade the PU's and in most cases leave the electrics until they wear out. I have never personally found a problem with alpha pots but I have had switches go. They cut corners in the right places.Thanx for bringing us all this great alternative stuff!
yes it is easy to replace.. get a Grigsby Oak or fancy one Freeway switch... I heard only good things about Corts..
I agree. It sounds great as it is, and you can always upgrade later. Electronics are always the easiest upgrades.
I bought this guitar having in mind that I'll change the pups. But they are really good! Gonna leave stock ones. They have a lot of low-end sound that is great, but I have to turn down lows on an amp to have more glassy tones.
@@silvansky I buy all my guitars both new and used with the idea that if needed I will spend another $200.00 USD to change or repair whatever is needed. I sometimes get lucky at find a perfect guitar. I got an old Ibanez Jet King painted silver sparkle. When Ibanez first started they were really Guyatone guitars with Ibanez put on the headstock. It looks very, very 50's so most guys never tried it out. It has chrome PU covers that make it look like the original but under them are P90's. These PU's thru my Plexi can remove the backwall of a club. lol It is not your granddads surf guitar, lol. So one can never assume anything about a guitar until you play it.
@@Paul_Lenard_Ewing true.
Thanks Darrell. Your videos are always informative and entertaining. Hope you’re having a nice day too.
Nice guitar and great guitarist. Thanks Darrell.
My first guitar (Sears Silvertone) was basically fiberboard painted black with silver glitter scattered about..ugh!
Today's guitars are works of art. I'm too old to wrap my head around a headless guitar. haha.
You have shown some of the most beautiful instruments, and play them equally as beautiful. Thanks Darrell.
I know the ones your talking about.
If you've ever watched the movie That Thing You Do that's the guitar the lead guitarist played with Silver Tone amp.
I had one of those for my first guitar the the screw holes all started too strip it was not a good guitar at all
This Cort, Tagima, FGN, Yamaha style is really growing on me
You know, I just had my tastes unexpectedly change over the past month, and your comment summarizes it perfectly. I saw a Tagima Stella DW for sale last week, and I decided to buy it... then today I found a Cort X700 Duality for sale, sub $600 and went for it. I'm a sucker for well made guitars and as much as I'd like to have an Ernie Ball JP Majesty, a Suhr, an ESP Horizon or Javier Reyes 6-string (can you tell I'm a sucker for the high horns?) I will never be able to justify spending that much on one guitar. Maybe on one amp, but not when my favorite guitar so far is a Peavey EXP I got for $400.
Love this channel!!
Beautiful guitar thanks for the review. I love learning about new guitars and the history. I’ve never heard of Cort
Very impressive tones - Nice!
I have the entire EVL Serie, and it is awesome. I also have a Strat style Cort. They all sound incredible for an extremely affordable price.
Cort is really badass. I have their flagships (G300pro and x700 duality) they're insane custom shop level.
They make some really nice guitars excellent video mate nice playing
Gotta love when you get the RUclips notification while already watching the video, great work algorithm! 🤘
😁😁😁
Really helpful review, thanks!
Very nice guitar! Great solo Darrell!
Thanks Brian!
I was waiting for this one!! Im slowly turning into a cort fan. Those are great instruments for the cost
I have an 83 Cort single cut and it will never leave....
Great to know, man! Another reason to trust cort
Sounds good, nice tones
Darrell, usually I don’t like your solos but the one today was fantastic! I loved how you showcased the trem system and the fact that it’s a floating trem. I really love your videos!
Beautiful crunchy rocker shape sound
Very impressive … some great tones! 😲
Yep, the guitar is AWESOME! I bought one just few days before this video was released. Mine came with even better fretjob, but the nut is really bad. Gonna change it for graphtech. Also noticed poor electronics, but I'm gonna mod this guitar so gonna change pots and wires anyway.
The trem is really really smooth and I love it! Best guitar in this price range, alnico 5 singles and alnico 2 humbucker, compound radius, great neck joint, great look!
My first electric was a Cort Pro Custom I got for Christmas in 1999. I didn’t give it enough credit at the time because I was 15 and dumb, but it was a great and reliable guitar. It stayed in tune and played punk great. I finally gave it away in 2010, but it was hard to do.
What a gorgeous guitar, I remember cort brand from the 80s, they made a purple star guitar that I wished I could have back in those days but didn't have the funds it was about $500 from some mom and pop record store, this new cort looks awesome and I'm really looking into getting it, sure I'll upgrade the electronics, no prob, cort is awesome, thanks for the review, very honest, professional and full review, great job man.
That really does sound nice!
Your the most honest reviewer to date
I LOVE THE WAY YOU PLAY GUITAR MAN 🎸 !!!!!!!
Darrle has been really flutter trem-happy lately. Great review!
Yeeess! Man, I remember back when I started playing back in 83, Corts were one of the cheapies to stay away from, like the Squiers. They must've realized to stay in the game, they needed to make some quality guitars. Rock On Mr. Darrell!
This is the best chanel about guitars
I have a Cort Bass that was made in conjunction with a boutique German designer.Fantastic.When the drummer and the git guy say uhhh turn it down pease. You know you got a.winner
May the Lord bless you!!! Great video as always.
Not available yet! Wow you are ahead of the curve!
John Mitchell from the bands “It Bites, Arena, Frost*, Kino, A, The Urbane and Lonely Robot” primarily uses Cort Guitars - white and black G254s on stage, and for recording, a tobacco G210 and a blue/black G290. He also plays an Alvarez Yairi acoustic guitar in the studio, and a PRS Classic. Mitchell's rack set-up consists of a Marshall JMP1 Preamp with effects being produced by a vintage Korg A3 effects unit. This signal is then amplified by a Marshall Valvestate 80/80 power amp to a 4x12 Marshall cab. So if there good enough for John Mitchell there good enough for me.
This is a killer looking guitar. I'm going to say it. It's beautiful
Looks like a Suhr
My chinese ibanez RG was made by cort in 1999... probably older than most viewers of this channel. Its a great guitar... swapped the floyd with an original from about 1987, tone zone and a paf neck... great setup.
Looks like a pacifica with same configuration, a comparison between the two would be interesting.
Looks so much like a Yamaha Pacifica 112 with a fancy finish. Still, an excellent guitar.
Hey Darrell, love you see your guitar teardowns. That really gives a clear thought of the guitar before buying it.
Recently, I was thinking about buying Harley Benton amarok 6. Spects are amazing. But just couldn't find a good teardown online! Can you please review that guitar if possible? That'll be really awesome!
Love from India!
Bro, I love your playing. Mesmerizes me. Do you have any recordings? You should do an album. Cheers man..👍
I'd love to see a review of Sire S guitar , great work btw , love the channel
Yeah man. They're making some nice stuff.
Recently bought a Cort G200DX-NAT through Guitar Center, brand new in a box. The neck joint had a 1.5 mm gap due to shavings and sawdust. Reluctantly took off the neck, cleaned out the pocket, lightly sanded for a better fit & fixed it. How it passed QC like that blows my mind. Anyway, it was under $300, so it's my hot-rod-able Stratocaster-style solid body guitar. Better pickups are planned for it. With a swamp ash body & hard maple neck, it's a beauty to look at & plays quite well.
Looks like a keeper 😎👍🎸
Just pulled the trigger on the Amber finish. This video (and a 50% discount!) swung it over an Ibanez or PRS.
I've owned PRS and Brian May guitars and this is right up there with them.
Cool DBG I'd love to see the cort cr 300 series now your kinda establishing a relationship with cort.i had an accoustic 20 years ago from cort that was super sonic and resonate man I lived it but I look and idk bud the demos of the cr series def needs to be done by you DBG .thanks for another great vid .Tim from up the 401 in london.
I purchased a Cort G110 four days ago and I have 0% regrets, it was affordable, it is reliable and impressive. 🎸🤤
I'm starting to think that an HSS configuration strat might be the best of both worlds for guitars. Decent single coil warmth from the neck position, but sufficient beef from the bridge humbucker.
Cort do make great guitars. I've got a Mansons Guitar Matt Bellamy Signature and that's a lovely instrument made with Cort. The neck feels especially lovely.
The quality of the electronics are going to be reflected in the cost I'm sure. If you want a guitar at a that low price point, then compromises have to come somewhere, and the person that's in the market for that sort of guitar probably doesn't care too much about lower end electronics.
Looks / Sounds sweet!
The Cort brand has been making some nice instruments for years.
This sounds like it would be a perfect second guitar, as in a really good upgrade from that Squire Affinity series Strat that you get when you start playing guitar. A nice mix of quality upgrades and value for money.
my local music store currently has 2 of these, i’m glad darrel made a video on this so now i can refer to a second opinion.
One of the best single cut L. P. type guitars I've owned was a Cort. Really muddy, saw wrong pot value in control cavity. With the right value it really opened up. Wish now I'd kept it.
Cort's are easy to find here in Australia, and they really do make some gold, as teens in the 90's we would play cort's due to them being cheap and reliable.
What part of Aus. Are you in? Heard its getting pretty bad over there lockdown wise? Are any guitar stores even open?
@@wiscostrongman3430 yea I'm on the Sunshine coast Queensland,we just came out of lockdown, all my guitar store are open I just brought one two weeks ago,we are the only major state that's not locked down, due to us shutting our borders down, no Vax jab no entry.
Damn thats sad! Hopefully things get better soon! We’re struggling to keep our freedom here in America too! Stay safe, and stay as free as possible brother!! The government only taketh…and never giveth
@@wiscostrongman3430 hey I hear you, but with us being a continent and our lockdowns harsh, we have very little deaths and infection rates from the beginning compared to the rest of the world. We are a very unified country, if disaster strikes we rally and band together to help strangers. We love Americans and feel you guys are probably the closest country to ours that have the same values 👍
Cort are also super popular in Europe. A lot of budget entry level guitars are coming from Cort.
CORT! One of my basses (I have 9... I know... too many) is a Cort and it's fantastic.
That YEESSSSSS on the Intro was funny to me 😄😄
I used a Cort Matt Murphy to tour and play heavy rock whilst at University. It was great!
As usual..a really good rundown.., and with good sound demos.
It's always cool, to watch your videos/reviews, Darrell.
I wanna buy a 260 model and mod it.
I wish these compound necks had a smaller radius, at the nut end.
Do you not find them somewhat too flat ??
Thanks very much for this
Cheers from Portugal
My first guitar was a cort and I’ve loved them since
Cort are massive here in NZ and also over in Australia! My acoustic guitar is a Cort, too! 🙂
Nice review
my first ever guitar was a cort z-22. second hand. don’t care if it isn’t name brand or the best of the best bc i still hold it dear to me regardless
My favourite channel
I remember being really surprised at a Cort amp I played about 15 years ago!
I knew exactly who he was talking about before I saw the name. Cort makes guitars for some many manufacturers and they're fine instruments for sure.
It looks like a Micheal Kelly. I was looking at some MK's@ Sam Ash and I must say played great. I was impressed.
I have initially replaced mini Alpha pots on my Cort CR250 with CTS pots but recently switched back. One of CTS pots became noisy/cracky and other one had different feel when rotating. I also found that the taper on Alpha pots ("B" for volume and "D" for tone) works better compared to single "audio" taper of CTS pots.
This one reminds me of the sire s7. I would love to see a video showing off that one! Locking tuners, bone nut. Roasted maple neck. It is worth a deeper dive.
What would you say is better considering the price and features both?
Nice to know about this little known name. How about a video on budget amps?
Cort is my favourite brand for value for money guitars ..I have started with x6 ws ..then cr 250 then x300 and now x700 duality...
6:24 sounds great here
Such a beutiful guitar
Besides upgrading the switch and pots, maybe changing out the tuners/machine heads for locking might help tuning, along with Graphtech saddles, string nut,and maybe string tree. Then A/B the difference in tuning stability?
Beautiful guitar i wish i could afford one soon
Would love to see/hear a review of one that Cort did not know was being reviewed.
Love your videos. I make sure to watch all your vids before buying new guitar. What's your opinion on the squier contemporary strats?? Are they worth it?
The shape of the body and burst are directly from the Pacifica!
Great guitar Cort review +
Cort is a giant in the world arena of guitars manufacturing
Cort is a great guitar. I have the MJ garage 2 model. Its an awsome guitar.!
2 questions:
1. Is it really shielded or is it only black paint (like I sadly experienced in some guitars)
2. Is the shielding completely throughout the cavaties and the pick guard that it creates a Faraday cage?
Darrell, I would love to see a head-to-head comparison of the Cort G280, the Sire S7, and maybe an Aria Pro II 714MK2 if you could get your hands on one. These seem like very similar guitars. I'm considering buying one of the three, but would love to get your take. Thanks!
I love their Cort G260CS
I have a Cort CR250 and I really feel I got the best bang from by buck there.
They really know their stuff.
I was not surprised to see weak pots and switch. Nice looking guitar.
This was great❤️...
Can you please do a review of the beginner models of the Yamaha Revstar range?... specially the RS320?
Would be great if you could do so ❤️🙂
Just found this beauty in a store near my house for $549. Thats absolutely insane(In a good way) for what I’m hearing!!
Dude, I'd love to see you doing some review on a Guild Starfire I Jet90, do you think it's possible? BTW congrats for your channel, it's awesome!
I used Cort around 2007
They were awesome values
Mighty Mite Hardware and pickups
I have a Cor-tek built Indonesian Squire Standard Telecaster which kills every affinity I've played. They make great guitars.
Yes!
I wish we could easily find Cort guitar in Canada. Cort always produces the best guitar for your money.
I've got a Cort G250, birds eye maple fretboard, Wilkinson VS50 2 point trem. Cort definitely know what they're doing. Regarding the small pots and cheap switch, 99% of people will never venture under the skin and sonically there's no difference though long term reliability could be an issue. I would change them if i was intent on keeping the guitar. The Cort brand is where the clever money is imho.
Have you made a video comparing small and big pots? Is there really a difference?
Cort is King. G series are sweet. Can't ask for a better guitar for this price. I own 2 Corts. Very happy w there craftsmanship
