As for 127, he was my main bias, alongside Yuta, and I did not expect him to be part of such a thing. Like how are we to know?? I love how you mention the "I knew he was like this" and "it's not my fave". Like, how do they actually know this? Are the people who say this actually psychic??
But to tell you the truth, with what's been coming out in SK for the last few years as I have been following more closely at what happens, I wasn't as shocked as I thought I would be, which makes me sad. This is not purely about him, but Korean men in general. We see over and over and over again all these reports of DV, and how it's getting worse. It's cultural, and this is purely the view that Korean men have grown up with, and a government that doesn't give shits ass about it.
I see the kpop industry as an iceberg; meaning you only see what they want us to see, which is maybe 10%. They are trained in how to speak and appear for fans. We do not really know these people. I'm not saying EVERY idol or Korean man is like this, but we do not know what happens behind closed doors, and people seem to forget this because they are so bedazzled. They are not your friends, and like you said, they are a product of the industry.
How dare he ,Jongho's song, like I love ballads (like be with you is one of my top favorite Ateez songs) but like I understand it's not everyone's cup of tea but to be below intros. Also I stopped watching reactions and ranking videos because it seemed disingenuous. I am with you I am protective of my baby bear. Also totally agree with you about the beginning of the video on how women are always blamed when men are the ones who do something wrong. Also I always enjoy when you talk about taxes.
People were saying that SM is most likely waiting for his contract to be over so they won't have to pay him out for breaking it early. I hope that's the case and we see SM cut all ties with him. I don't know if they'll decide to rerecord songs, especially since their discography is already so large, but I hope they do. I haven't been able to listen to any songs he's in. It feels so wrong and gross to do so.
I can't say I was too attached to him (not sure if that would be the right word). For me it felt like he just came to do his job and only through the members, haechan and johnny especially, did I get to know more about who he was as a person. I guess the more correct way would be, how his members saw him as a person. It was easy to see that they absolutely adored him. I just don't understand how someone could be so selfish and egotistical. Seeing the airport pictures of Mark and Haechan, as well as the other 127 boys, was absolutely heartbreaking. (Also the crazy stalkers not letting them have any privacy whatsoever is incredibly infuriating) They're going to have to continue to face fans and the public while he just skates on by. That man has caused so much harm. I hope he stubs his toe every day for the rest of his miserable life. May the victim get the help and justice they deserve. May Korean women get the help and justice they deserve.

In regards to the Taeil situation. I’ve also been struggling. I love 127, and I haven’t listened to any of their music at all. I don’t know how I can even enjoy their past music now if it has him on it. And they’ve been active for so long, it just doesn’t seem plausible for them to go back, take him off and rerelease everything. SM loves money but they’re also kind of lazy so idk.
I have to confess all the scandals are making me step back from K-pop a bit. I will still fully support the groups I enjoy but I feel like I need to avoid getting into more groups. And I know that’s not fair for the groups I’m passing on. But the last time I stepped back from K-pop because of scandals it was to quit listening for years, as I was so frustrated from JYJ lawsuit and their blacklisting. So this is not as bad as before. But it just hurts my heart to think of how much idols are treated and terrified at how horrible the monsters among them are.

'Everything' by Jongho is such a beautiful song and I can't believe this guy ranked it so low. When Jongho sang that live at the concert I went to, the whole stadium was quiet so I would just enjoy his vocals. I'm glad I don't watch videos like that because they would just upset me lmao
I think it’s ironic that Korea “cares” so much about bullying but be the main ones bullying idols… International fans are no better, they get on Koreans when it comes to that but are also bullies too.

As a VIP (BIGBANGs fandom, not gonna go there, it'll take hours and I'm not defending anyone) I definitely understand the rollercoaster NCT stans are currently on. Feeling disappointed/sad/angry are all valid and I definitely went through it myself. I hope in the end after the police conclude their investigations that the victim gets the justice they deserve.

Thank you for talking about this situation with such clarity and compassion, he was my 127 bias when I first got into NCT. I am glad that Johnny and Yuta had already moved up my bias line, but it had less to do with Taeil and more those two shining through for me.
I hope the woman who reported him is able to find justice and heal from the trauma he caused.
