Not having maxed Heros used strategy of using a bunch of experience potions to level up from 1 to 40 several Heros... Using this strategy we had (2) 2nd place and 1 first place among me and 2 friends....
But that depends on your own stage and your opponents stage. In particular, if you go up against an old account with low level heros like mine, your strategy would not work. I had 30-L20 heros and 50000 huge EXP pots and put up 472K ToP points to beat #2 at 453K.

I just did the main quests to get "rebates" - spend energy get back some energy bottles etc.. Then when I found myself near the end @ #5, I spent some XP bottles to get to #1 in the last 5 minutes. Ended up #2 without spending resources that I cared about. Top 2 were just over 100k at the end (including me). I got about 60k without trying.
Newer members that have saved many resources will have the advantage. Also they will have many untouched heroes that could be easily leveled up without spending any money. I have been playing for 11 months and ended up getting 358K points without spending any money on this event. Won 1st place with not much effort. Charlie, I think you should start a new account for fun to see what it is like for the newer members. This was a GREAT event for new players!
I was in first but got sniped at the last second. I don't feel too bad about it, the overwhelming majority of the resources I spent went into finally taking care of leveling up Sebastian, Isaac, and Heidi plus some to Corvus and Mushy (finished Corvus and started Mushy as my next Strength hero). I recognize the value of them, but wasn't really interested in them as heroes so I kept putting them off for heroes that did appeal to me, but one big push made it easier to finally work on them. It was upgrades I was going to do anyway, I just did them a lot faster than I planned, and I didn't spend money. I did however spend a bunch of resources I had building up in my inventory without using them for quite a while because there hadn't been an event that needed them. I can't repeat that performance in the future.
I do need to do something similar for Nebula, but no way I will have the resources to try by the next Tournament of Power, and I probably wouldn't do a big push like this other times.
My group had about 25 people... I took 1st with 165k... no snipers... I started out in 4th, but every day I focused on maximizing a single resource and focused on all the heroes outside my chosen 3 teams.... .never spent a dime
trick to win that event is xp potions and eternal seeds, evolve mage branch and how many heroes are in that branch? you will get collective power of all heroes to points
For most players, mage branch is one of the more developed ones, and seeds are not something that left unused for a long time. And regardless of the amount of heroes on that branch, lower levels of other branches are more cost-effective. You can do x5 the points with the same resources on lower levels.
@@eranir1 are lower levels of skins, sparks, glyphs and artifacts aslo more cost effective? I just recognised that every skill level gives 20 power, soesent matter if the hero has 100k or 5k
@spargeltarzan348 Glyphs - yes. Skins - didn't check, you can easily do that. Artifacts - harder to quantify, since you have a multiplier of stars and levels, and you won't invest coins across many artifacts just to increase their levels a little bit. Skill levels add a constant value, so of course lower levels are more cost-efficient. Lower exp levels as well (for a constant star).
I won my tournament! Don't say there aren't any winners...because I destroyed my group!! I 575,296 points!! I didn't use ANY eternal seeds or skin stones. I simply had 1/2 of my heroes that were never upgraded!! So just leveling them up to 130 and then getting all their artifacts to level 25 was enough to get that huge score!! And what you said in this video was wrong for me. Now that I have all those heroes updated, it will be much harder to win this in the future!! But I wanted to get this avatar as bragging rights to show it can be done!!! :) And now I'll be able to update lots of my flawless artifacts!!
you won the battle and lost the war. With this amount of points you could've won several future events with the right competitors, not sure why you had to go so high.
@ Like I said to the other guy, 2nd place was in the 400,000 level... so yeah.. I did beat them by 100,000... BUT... I did so to ensure I would win. I don't plan on engaging in it again. I wanted the avatar and did everything I needed to ensure that I'd get it.
@@caryhetzel2809 The thing is - you didn't HAVE to win THIS event. I have guild members who won their teams with 100K points. As you can't win each one of those, better pick the "cheaper" ones.
Hey, Charlie, I generally and overall agree with all points here. However, wanna share my personal experience with this event and how I only won. I'm playing HW WEB. Hero power at the start of event = 5,9m. I've had a lot of saved resources. I done the bare minimum each day from day x1 and kept rank x5-x8; Last day - I just spent all necesarry resources to complete the event quests (lvl up skin stones, artifacts, ascension etc.). Also upgraded few artifacts from 5 to 6 stars, a lot of glyphs, 1 Tree of Wisdom branch from 44-49 etc.; Worked only on my heroes that are currently in my list for strenghtening anyway, so literally done nothing extra for any hero that I'm not gonna use; Total emeralds spent = 15k; Tournament points = +110k just the last day. I finished with 152k points and rank x1. Worked on my heroes that need work anyway, got some bonus rewards and super cool avatar! And yes, next times I'm passing on this event!
the avatar is ugly :D I aslo got first with 120k, promised me to never spent more and only on the last day. It makes me cry to see some others spending tons for this...
@spargeltarzan348 Congrats to you too! Yes, as Charlie estimated the 1-st rank value is 41k emeralds in total, so anything more spent than that - loss. + finally for the avatar, guess it's a matter of a personal preference! :)
Deda has shown that by removing ALL sparks of power a week or so before the event then spending a gazillion gold almost ensures first place. I'm actually shocked maxed out accounts do that to prevent smaller accounts to receive good rewards.
i saw groups went as high as 100 players. others could have been higher. seems like it was by level grouping... the oldest accounts (spare accounts collecting resources for 5 years) matched with many year old accounts on the newest servers.
I think it was based on some recent period activity level. I had a fellow guild member in my group on my 2nd account - he is a much bigger spender but just went on a 1 week trip where he was minimal activity. The other 6 members in my group were a mix of F2P/F2P-lite from older servers and coiners from newer servers, but nobody put up big numbers besides me. Basically anyone with an older account and low level heros is going to dominate their ToP groups until they max out their hero levels. For my 1st account: I had a much older server opponent with low level heros - we dueled it out, but I won at 473K to his 454K - but I spent nothing except improvements to heros I am working on plus leveling low level heros. My opponent was doing the same for the first 2 days, putting up 260K but clearly ran out and was scraping resources everywhere the last 3.
The value depends on your team level. I have a lot of lvl 1 heroes and I was able to use potions to get major power increases. I was able to take 1st place by spending $10 usd and 9999 emeralds, nothing more. Totally worth it for a newer player.
i have 2 acounts, won on both..much harder on older account(maybe i was lucky i won with160k points),on my new account(5 months) no one had even 1% chance to beat me cause i worked on 10 heroes so far and my 50+ heroes were untouched at all,the amount of points for upgrade them was huge and i only used recourses that i already have,as my last weapon i used exp potions which granted me tons of points in last minutes of battle-my point is i didn`t spend a dime on this event and won it twice.
i had a fight right to the last second, i finished 1st with 194k and 2nd had 192k while 3rd had 188k and it was another guy with 180k. i had the fight with the 3rd guy when 2nd and 4th guys came out in last few hours from nothing almost to ~170k. i had 10-15 heroes to blue, now i have all heroes to purple and almost all are absolute star now. i will not be winning another one of these contests soon without spending (i spent like 10 $ for this event).
This game really punishes players who get bored. How many days did I bored and dumped a ton of resources into improving my heroes, then this event comes along and this was the time when I really should have saved them for. I won first on my secondary account because I used up most of my XP potions leveling 5 heroes to 130. I might have been able to win on my primary account but first place was 250K and I didn't think it was worth it to use up everything since they will probably do this again.
I waited to the last day to invest in the event so not to push the leaders to spend more. In the last hour I pushed up to 190k and took 1st place by around 13k. Charlie's strategy to spend a ton on day one turned out to be a bad idea by pushing others to spend more. He ended up using a lot of resources and fell short of the better rewards.
Charlie, the reason ToP is not good for you is because you have max level heros. Anyone with an older account but not max level heros can put up huge ToP numbers with no real spend. For me personally, I had 50K huge EXP pots and 30-L20 heros; it was easy for me to put up 474K ToP points - to beat #2 at 453K ToP points, without spending a dime of real money or use resources on heros I will never use. The #2 was from a high 100s server whereas I am a mid 200s server.
And if you weren't that eager, you could've won 2 or more events leveling up those heroes. No reason to focus on the first one, where many players level up those low power heroes.
@@eranir1 Perhaps, perhaps not. I have 2 accounts - one had zero competition despite being 3 weeks newer, and the powder is basically all still there. This one - I was up against a much older server resident, but I guarantee that guy is not going to be able to do it again. But I still have hero levels outstanding so will win at least one more. It really depends on what the next 2 or 3 ToP groups look like. I think it is a bad assumption to think that everyone will have burned their low level hero levels already. Furthermore, half of the group in each account were 350+ server numbers - meaning these guys almost certainly are not maxed heros, and could jack up a lot of hero levels by spending on EXP pots, if they don't have them.
@@c1ue1 We made sure that almost all of our guild members will post their ranking at the end of the event. The majority of the teams finished under 200K. Some went much higher, some didn't have a single player that went over 100K. So 474K is a complete waste of resources relatively to the average event.
@@eranir1 How old is your server? My 2 accounts are a bit over 1 year old. In the older one - over 2/3rds of the players are F2P and most were in groups with the top under 200K. But that's because those people are all resource limited - they did not have the EXP pots to jack up lots of hero levels even though they had low level heroes. But 2 guild members were in group where 2 or more people put up 200K in the last 30 minutes, 350K overall plus myself so 10% did have the big numbers. In my other account which is slightly newer but is about half paid, half F2P lite (as in sometimes but no frequently) and only 2 pure F2P: same story of 2 people with 300K+ competitors - again around 10%. If you are on a very very old server with F2P, it is very possible that you are seeing groups of other very old F2P. Conversely, if you are on a newer server - resource constraints may simply be the reason. I'd say that the evidence for your assumptions are no better than my assumption that any group could have 2 or 3 players or more with low levels and lots of EXP pots. Nobody NEEDS to max level their heroes no matter how old. In any case, time will tell. Plus - HW could very well reduce the rewards since 90%+ of players are getting nothing and are likely to complain :)
@@c1ue1 Sorry, TLDR. My server is 2.5 years old, and I was matched with players from server 23, all the way to the 300s. Same goes to everyone, as they don't limit it to nearby servers. I promise you that Nexters did not implement any metric over your EXP potions and heroes levels.
Hi, Charlie. When you first posted a video promising the first place, I thought it was a perfect opportunity for your opponents to start their RUclips channel and making crushing you their way to attract views and subscribers :) Ehab must have used the Gift of the Element reset glitch to beat you on the last day
@@M-DVD They semi did it. It's true once the event has started. However, if you remove all your sparks of power a week or so before the event, then your baseline decreases a lot.
I have a different perspective on this. For those of us who are F2P, the Tournament of Power was a great way to dump a ton of extra and unused resources and turn that into 40K emeralds. Suggesting that you can just "buy" 40K emeralds is a joke. Of course you can, but why? I pride myself on being F2P and I spent $0 on this event, but I still captured nearly 216K power and secured first place. In my group it was very tight between three of us. In other groups from my guild the winner was only 110K power and easy to win. It takes months and months of time for me to earn 40K emeralds, so this was a really nice score with minimal consequence. Unfortunately, now that my heroes are leveled so highly it is unlikely that I could do this again.
If you're a F2P that takes pride in making good investments, and already know that some people won with half your points, should've probably not battled all the way to 216K.
First video missed the point, and this one does the same. It's a recurring event and should treated as such. In the first event - many players have resources to spend - be it EXP potions to level up low power heroes, or basic Not all teams are created equally, or basic crystals for low ascension levels. All those eager players will consume those resources this time and will lack them next time. And more importantly - not all teams are created equally - got guild members who lost with 250K points, and guild members who won with 100K points. The MOST important thing is to figure out which is the right event to spend in, and no strategy is dominant for all events.
It also depends on who you get paired against. Nodody but the 1st place spent money on this event. It also seems like they paired me with mostly people who are free to play or like me who have only spent about 100 to 200 dollars max on this game.
the last 30 minutes was extremely competitive in my bracket. third place dumped everything he had in at the last minute and finished first with 370k points and i ended up in third with 240k points. HUGE waste is right ...
Better not to push on 1st event, much more likely that many players will spend their long saved resources this time than on any SINGLE event in the future.
I won with 148k & I spent hardly nothin about 4k ems mostly just to get the resource chests.. promotions, evolutions & xp give the most points, if a player doesn't have alot of that to do, then don't even try
My 47k got me the 8th position in my group of 15. The winner was 127k. Though I'm F2P, I also lost because I could not resist the temptation. So I wasted artifacts just because I wanted to complete some of the quests. Though I knew I should have saved my artifacts for the Legacy of the Great Ones, I just could not help myself. This makes me a double loser because when the Legacy of the Great Ones event comes, I'm a loser again. Now I know what Charlie meant when he said the 3rd way to win is not to play in this TOP event. I used to think that Charlie was being sarcastic but not anymore. It's really the truth.
And I did it, I chose the method of not taking part in it, I slept peacefully for 4 nights without worrying that someone will overtake me at the end and I will lose real money
For me it wasn't that difficult, had plenty of heroes that was planning on leveling up and where at level 1, so just took a few of them and brought them to level 130, and voila, 400K points. But it's true that got almost depleted of Huge XP potions, but almost never use them anyway :). Besides doing all the tasks, true. Probably not worth it, and probably won't play in another one cause you Charly are quite right, not worth it (unless you are swiming on resources AND are planning on leveling up anyway). Just my two cents
strategy 1 is just crap. i used srtategy 2, won by 10k margin at 146k total. leveled only stuff i was about, 0 quests will be lost ;) not losing the most seems like a faint consolation xD
We're doing this now...seriously? You sound like you're being ungrateful Charlie...at least you got something. People who finish 4th or lower don't get anything...I made it to 10th place to do me it is just worthless event...be proud charlie, you did better than most players
A crappy event indeed! As crappy as Area of Conquest; actually there is one thing that ToP does better than AoC: it doesn't require constant/semi-constant presence online!
I agree this is a wasted event going forward. I didn't mind it this time because I had been hanging onto a lot of upgrade materials out of sheer laziness. It is probably better to wait for a Hero emerald event or a piggy bank discount to make significant upgrades going forward.
@@yanmeu8019 Yes. This was a lousy event 15 participants and only 35k emeralds amongst the top 3. The top 3 either spent way more in $$ to win or used up a ton of assets in inventory that they will now have to replace.

i had a fight right to the last second, i finished 1st with 194k and 2nd had 192k while 3rd had 188k and it was another guy with 180k. i had the fight with the 3rd guy when 2nd and 4th guys came out in last few hours from nothing almost to ~170k. i had 10-15 heroes to blue, now i have all heroes to purple and almost all are absolute star now. i will not be winning another one of these contests soon without spending (i spent like 10 $ for this event).
"Whoever spends the most money gets a dollar!" Classic trap.
I got to your power level by taking heroes from grey to violet, using 2000 huge potions, and evolving heroes, cost me gold only,
Charlie, the reason ToP is not good for you is because you have max level heros.
When you first posted a video promising the first place, I thought it was a perfect opportunity for your opponents to start their RUclips channel and making crushing you their way to attract views and subscribers :)
Ehab must have used the Gift of the Element reset glitch to beat you on the last day
What glicth? if you're talking about the level+up, reset and repeat; afaik that was already fixed before the ToP
I agree, but you can always buy stuff right?
Theoretically, they should pair you with those who have the same amounts of resources and hero levels
@@aml7758 says who? you have no idea what their metrics are.
@@matek12395 I don't understand what you're trying to say here.
@@eranir1 well, that's unfortunate
1 and 1...there are no winners in HW
The only way to win tournament of power is to just upgrade your heroes enough to earn the daily rewards
Thx Charlie
Hahaha, I also have a couple of suckers in my group who gave it their all -alligators and tacos, for emeralds worth 16.88 USD
I got 3rd place too, and I didn't spend any money and only about 300 emeralds.
It also depends on who you get paired against. Nodody but the 1st place spent money on this event. It also seems like they paired me with mostly people who are free to play or like me who have only spent about 100 to 200 dollars max on this game.
this is called an EGO battle. good news. charlies ego is not that big.
SILLY ARROGANT AMERICANS
I did the 3rd way, and I just earn 438 points.
No regrets.
well free to play of 19 in the group i finished 18 yes almost the last so close XD
I did just enough to get the daily rewards.
the last 30 minutes was extremely competitive in my bracket.
third place dumped everything he had in at the last minute and finished first with 370k points and i ended up in third with 240k points.
HUGE waste is right ...
Better not to push on 1st event, much more likely that many players will spend their long saved resources this time than on any SINGLE event in the future.
I won with 148k & I spent hardly nothin about 4k ems mostly just to get the resource chests..
promotions, evolutions & xp give the most points, if a player doesn't have alot of that to do, then don't even try
i got fist with 120k, promised myself to never spend more
the worse yes, but the avatar is one of the best^^
Why did it say 2nd place
this is Chance's screenshot, you can compare it elsewhere in the video when I'm showing the FB post.
I also finished in third place 😄125k but the no.1 end 464k and no.2 363k and yeah I don't lose the most 😛
Yes indeed,this Event was a joke.Problem is:everytime we say that,the Event stick around.... :(
For someone who lost, he's awfully happy about it. Almost like a super villain who achieved all his goals 😈😈😆😆😂😂
🙈 my top was 544k and 2nd 412k
I gave it all 0s on the survey
strategy 1 is just crap. i used srtategy 2, won by 10k margin at 146k total. leveled only stuff i was about, 0 quests will be lost ;)
not losing the most seems like a faint consolation xD
I won. I finished last.
this looks sus ... you say you are 3rd but msg says you are rank#2 ... whats going on ??
i won with 164k, and i did`nt use money
We're doing this now...seriously? You sound like you're being ungrateful Charlie...at least you got something. People who finish 4th or lower don't get anything...I made it to 10th place to do me it is just worthless event...be proud charlie, you did better than most players
Hi, as you said before, you pay to win, that's the name of these kinds of games, amazing the amount of money and resources some people invest...
Tournament of Power, is just silly shit
Say it isn't so, Charlie. I feel for you, or at least I would if I was a paying player who also lost. Boo-hoo.

Charlie does not have the power
Boycott ToP until it goes away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is probably better to wait for a Hero emerald event or a piggy bank discount to make significant upgrades going forward.
whenever most players think an Event sucks, you can bet your money its gonna come back LUL
@@yanmeu8019 Yes. This was a lousy event 15 participants and only 35k emeralds amongst the top 3. The top 3 either spent way more in $$ to win or used up a ton of assets in inventory that they will now have to replace.
Hello Charlie, first thank you for your video. I didn't try at all to win the tournament (frankly I found this event stupid and I'm following the advice you gave just to build one team and maybe 2 or 3 heroes).. I have a question that is not related to this subject: could you tell me WHEN to spend titan artifact spheres. I never spend them and the few events you could spend them, it requires only 50 to reach the top reward. Thank you for any advice you could give me regarding that subject...
