I agree about folding handles. Last year i picked up a daiwa qc-750. Its been a great reel fornthe month or soni got to use it at the end of last season. What sold me on it was the fact all you do is press down a metal piece and then just flip the handle over. No loosening the part on the otherside then retightening. Just push and flip. The qg-750 also has the same feature.
Hey Alex I’ll def be looking for your review after you use the predator tip up! As the engineer and designer of the predator and Caleb as my co-inventor we/I am always listening to users with any concerns or ideas that would make it better for the user . I am currently working on a few small modifications to the triggers to make them even better.
I have the new x600 and I'm not a fan of the bottom flap. I use to have the eskimo 650xd and I've never had an issue with wind coming in. The best part about the 650xd was that I could pull my sled inside. Yes, I can with the x600, but over time that flap will start to get worn out.
You can permanently mount the hub pole support to the middle roof hub, when it is collapsed, you can fold up your sides like normal and fit into the bag. It will work without mounting it to the roof's hub, but not as stable. Most will not have an issue with with wind blowing in, most put the back end of the shack into the wind, with the main entrance being opposite, walked through one, it does not stick up much, you wont be tripping and gives more stability. The rod slicks have been out for 10 yrs or so, at first just available in blue, then later came black and pink. The new lights for the hubs, do have a sleeve in the Ice Team models, velcro if using in other shacks. The shape of the spoon has been out for years under Clam's CPT & Jason Mitchell lineup, was called the Blade Spoon, difference this year, as you mentioned is made of the zinc alloy, like the Tikka minnows, and would have to look again, but the glass chamber in this year, sounds louder than in yrs past. The Predator tip up, is cat's aZZ, I have two of the Jaw Jackers already, but picked up the Pred to try, and there is nothing cheap about the material, it is solid! There are things I missed getting on the first round, but already have my list made for another order lol
You got to check out the finicky Fooler. It's very compact and super simple. All the other rod and reel tips on the market are just way too big.that new clam one looks way to over engineered. And finicky fooler hole covers are amazing.
Wait those lights are not expensive? When you take in account that you will need/want 4 to 5 sets to make it bright enough to say read a book then yeah its expensive.

Clams obsession with the slow mo fish pulls from the hole drive me crazy.
Hahaha, yeah it does get old after seeing it on every video multiple times

Thank you for sharing your experience, you are the first person I've heard from that has had both styles! Appreciate it

I've got a couple of them and love them, they are my go-to tip ups with an ice rod!! Never tried their hole covers though, might need to
Clam does not have an automatic jigging machine that will attach to any fishing gear with a line n hook...
You are correct as far as I know. I haven't seen anything like that from them
