I watched this race and saw how the jockeys whip their horse to run faster. Then I remember the great chestnut horse, Secretariat. Secretariat was never whipped by the jockey, Dave Turcott and won the Kentucky Derby, The Preakness, and The Belmont Stakes in 1973. Secretariat still holds the record times in all 3 races to this day.

Trained and raced running horses and Standardbreds, bred trained and showed cowhorses and Reiner's.woeld and state champions. @@lisainger6751 is dog food somehow worse than buzzard food? If you could live 100 years in the Amazon jungle alone or 60 years with a family loving you which would you choose? Most domesticated animals have a large percentage that are fond of domestication. One exception is horses. It's 50/50.
The point is..if horses aren't made into dog food they become buzzard food anyway. Furthermore, if we didn't domesticate dogs and have a need to feed them those same dogs would hunt, slaughter and eat those same horses.
You act like since animals were domesticated that their domestication would allow them the ability to survive in the wild if we suddenly released them all back to it. If you think canines and felines eat leafy greens then you've failed.

They weigh around 500 kilograms, their legs are supported by ankles the size of a human’s, and they’re forced to run around racecourses at speeds of more than 30 miles per hour while carrying people on their backs. Horses don’t enjoy this ordeal or get a thrill out of crossing the finishing line. They’re whipped into submission and end each race sweating and exhausted, often with debilitating injuries - if they survive at all.

Good performance but the 2 miles would have made it easier. There's a horse called Van Dijk that has a habit of the same slow start, and who has won in a similar fashion, but that's over 7 furlongs to a mile, which to me is more impressive

Van Dijk is funniest horse I've ever seen. Wins and runs only he wants to.
