Seriously I got here on May 14th and that 107 degree heat smacked me right in the face. But I love it here in Mexico, Merida is just the first stop and the title is absolutely the truth! My body feels healthier, I'm walking more, I'm sweating more and there is ZERO STRESS except for when I can't think of how to say something in Spanish hahaha...Thank you Jose for posting these videos and liberating minds/souls out here bro!
Wow that is awesome! Welcome to Merida! Thanks for sharing!
Congratulations!
You made me realise how there are many things we mexicans take for granted, I think this vibe you mention is because we appreciate every people's jobs, they are all important and needed, from the man who collects your trash to the big business man, everybody matters and that money, as you said, is not the most important thing in life, we are blessed ti have enough. I thought it was the same everywhere, now I feel double blessed. And old people are important, they hold wisdom and answers inside ha ha ha.
So happy to hear that. I really appreciate the kind words. Mexico is really blessed and it's an amazing country and an amazing place to live. Thank you so much for sharing! Viva Mexico!
Very well said. Yes our elderly are important. As I help out my aging mom I grow more and more frustrated with how people speak to elders as their children. Jose nailed it on the and the loving culture of Mexico. I can’t wait to be there full-time.
Im sure your mom Is truly happy to have you.❤
Wow..another weirdo..better put down the pipe !
I went to Cancun a few years ago. I stayed in downtown Cancun in an a Cuban neighborhood. It was a blast. I stayed in a Airbnb for 10 days at a cost of $280. I took the bus from the Cancun airport to downtown Cancun for 90 pesos. Don't have to spend a ton of money to enjoy Cancun... I also left both of my cellphones at a bar in Isla Mujeres. I went back and the bartender was holding my cellphones for me.
That is awesome! Thanks for sharing with us!
is it true that Mexico hasnt been at war with another country for over 100 years? was learning about the country's history and the only recent Mexican war i read about was the Mexican/American war. My country is always at war/conflict with someone lol. If this is true i wonder how Mexico achieved 100+ years of peace without spending so much on defense. Seems like an epic achievement that nobody talks about.
Long story short Mexico prefers to just supply the war then actually get involved in any wars. If it come down to it, Mexico can defend itself very very well if attacked by any foreign invaders. Other than that Mexico doesn't need a Military the size of the US. Since it's in the US's main interest to protect Mexico at all cost.
I lived in Mexico for 2 years. I loved it! It's like living in the states 30 years ago or more.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing! Viva Mexico!
Jose this sounds like where I need to be to heal from the trauma of living in the US it’s SICKENING here
Sorry to hear about what is going on back home. Life is just so different out here in Mexico. I can't ever imagine wanting to live in the US ever again. Thanks for sharing
jeffrey, heal from the trauma of living in the US..another head case !
Awesome video, I can’t wait to fill my soul living in Mexico!
Viva Mexico! Thanks for sharing!
Let Mexico change you, not you change Mexico and also be wise with your spendings. Viva Mexico

Jose, your videos have been medicine for my soul, too! ❤
¡¡¡Meee tooo!!! ❤
Wow, thank you! Much appreciated! Glad you enjoy them so much!
One day I will make the journey and live in Mexico for 3-6 months out of the year.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing!
That makes so much sense what you say in that video….I love your reasoning….I need a friend like you to help me make the move….I’m thinking about it for about two years….I live in Wokeistan….it’s horrible here in Montreal….you would not believe it….and what I want is to live at the beach somewhere…amongst friendly people…..that’s what I want.
Ok for now….Have a good One….Lucky you!😉
Good luck with everything! Thanks for sharing!
You are a French-Canadian, you would not like it here, stay in Montreal..lucch !
Hola José, no sé si puedo recorder ser awesome!
Saludos!
Terrible Spanish...better stick with your other language, whatever that is !
I remember meeting an American on a bus in Mexico over 20 years ago and he was saying how he couldn’t take the USA anymore and he was visibly upset about it.
Imagine how much worse things have gotten since then 😅
Rich in money needs definition with understanding.

Hi Jose, As usual your right as rain about living in Mexico!!! Your Amigo from Queretaro.
Muchas Gracias brother!
Catching the #replay Jose! As usual, you always give a down to earth assessment of Mexico for anyone thinking of coming to Mexico. What are your thoughts on best locations to live to minimize power outages? I know some folks require consistent power for medical devices.
I say anywhere close to a hospital or major mall or grocery stores is great because they always gotta have power. I have heard of many people in certain newer areas of Merida such as Caucel or the North having power outages. I think it is because the power grid is not adequately sufficient for all of the people living up there and they will get better slowly but surely as they increase capacity. With that said I can assure you haven't had any problems out here in the South East part of the city. I guess it all depends on the area. Hope that helps answer your question!
Better stay in your own country..why risk it ?
“If you want more peace in your life always choose less riches.”
I agree People should learn how to be Rich in Life, not Rich in "Money"
Jose, I see more homeless in Guadalajara than I have ever seen in Suburban Chicago. I can’t be 100% in Mexico because I can’t find the equivalent of a six figure income like I can find around Chicago. I have to live 51% in the US to keep my job. Have not figured out how to be a digital nomad. 😂
Which areas have the most homeless? It's def a bit violent there hopefully it turns around sometime soon.
Thanks for sharing!
You might not need that much money here, learning to live with less could be an option. :)
Good, stay in Chicago..who cares ?
My gringo friends worried that I would get kidnapped by drug cartels while I was on a bus ride to Hermosillo.
Meanwhile, tens of thousands of US citizens get murdered every year by other citizens and they’re oblivious to that sad fact.
I totally understand. It's borderline insane how oblivious they are to what is actually going on. Thanks for sharing!
@JCA51698 I always tell my worried friends and family, “more U.S. citizens get killed in the U.S. than anyplace else in the world… and yet you still go out at night and go places alone everyday…” 😂
Danger is everywhere, I remind them. Stay alert and use wisdom no matter where you are… and pray 🙏🏽 😊
JCA I love that you took a bus to Hermosillo... that was one of the first Cities that I went shopping for pottery in as it was fairly close to the border... Later stayed in Guaymas nearby and loved the tranquil condo near the water. It's an area that 20 years ago wasn't much for tourists... I loved the feeling there.
tens of thousands....really ?
Hey Jose!
Love, love, love your videos!
You say if Mexicans are unhappy with their job, they get another job. My son doesn't change jobs here in the US because workers are usually mean to the newbies. Is this a thing in Mexico at all?
Also, someone I know with a granddaughter in a private school in Mexico says that the students are kind to each other instead of the bullying that goes on here in the US. What is your opinion on that? What would you have to say about how the students treat each other in public schools?
Thank you for the kind words! I don't really know the answer to your questions since they are not in my realm. I would say its like stepping back in time and that things might function socially like if it was 30-40 years ago.
Since the 80s ive been spending time in Mexico. The majority of Americans that move to Mexico only stay a few years and head back to the United States.
That is very true, I see it all the time myself. Thanks for sharing!
Hey Me..how do you know ?
It's well know among expats. Not just in Mexico but in Asia as well. These are 3rd world countries. Including Mexico. Areas where expats gravitate towards like Playa del Carmen and Cabo are as expensive as the USA . Slightly lower in some respects but remember the toilets don't flush , holes in the sidewalks that will snap your leg in two, a mad insane environment of barking dogs, crime, wasted tourists, every 6 steps a time share pitch or a cartel worker pushing drugs. After a year or 2 most Americans that moved there leave. If you want to really get feedback to support this call a school in Mexico that caters to foreign students. The admission dept will confirm that most go back to their home country. Hope this helps
Bendiciones...m
Muchas Gracias! Igualmente!
Jose, did your allergies improve when U moved to Merida??
Yes I used to have horrible allergies in the US but they are almost non existent out here in Merida. But When I visit other parts of Mexico they often act up
This is another awesome video. Thank you for stepping out in the heat for the walk and the message. I love seeing how many people have a business out of their home. Again, no/less regulation gives them that freedom.
Muchas Gracias! Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks, do you know any youtubers or other who are living there who can help those who want to move there from scandinavia/north europe?
No i am not familiar with anyone from Europe that helps with that my apologies
Visita Guanajuato
ok! Hopefully soon!
Stay right there I am back up north now poeples are not fun at all
Viva Mexico!
Hi, I have a silly question if you don’t mind.
First, let me give you some background. I’m 44. Recently, I went through a messy divorce, lost my house and almost all my life savings, and I’m currently taking medication for depression.
Fortunately, I have a pension of around $3000 per month starting next year so I’m thinking about retiring abroad.
My question is: Is it socially acceptable in Mexico to have a long-term committed relationship without marriage?
I hope to have a committed longterm relationship in future but after going through my divorce, I can’t risk getting married again. I wouldn't survive another divorce financially if I had to pay spousal support again.
Many of my colleagues have retired in Southeast Asia, and most have committed girlfriends or live-in partners. They told me it’s not taboo there.
Whats the scenario of Mexico? Is it acceptable or extremely taboo?
(Obviously i have no plans of having kid & had done with vasectomy decades ago )
I'm sure you can find yourself someone around your age not interested in marriage and just a partnership here in Mexico. You can watch this video for a more in depth answer to your dating question ruclips.net/user/live16EfMIZHnOY?feature=share
Sen....looks like you have some issues..stay where you are and get some help !
In the end it s about getting happiness outside the list engraved in our brain by Hollywood and social medias and un bamboozle ourselves re connecting with our God given roots
Thanks for sharing!
you are rambling again...what is this ....engraved in our brain....?
Is it possible to learn Spanish by paying someone and be able to get by before we learn? Single mom of one seven year old, but I am not happy in US and can’t afford quality.
Of course it is! (Claro que si!) See? First lesson learnt. Start by watching videos or soap operas in spanish and just repeating the words/sounds. There aré videos of spanish clases on RUclips 😊
Yes of course! There are many options! A great tool that is Free is Duolingo you can download it on your phone and learn for Free
👌👌😊😊
🙂
NyTimes article says Mexico is running out of water. I won't be coming and neither will anyone who read the article.
lol
I used to be addicted to the NYT. It’s a horrible addiction but it can never overcome. I hardly think about it anymore unless someone sends me a NYT article.
@ParisianThinker - Did you know that there are places in the United States that are running out of water? Places in my home state of CA, and in MT for example. Just avoid the specific places where resources are scarce.
ok! Thanks for sharing!
@@1SLPMOM then you can just get it delivered, like we do with gasoline and heating oil
Why so few people are in thier yards or walking about?... bendiciones...m
Because it’s hot af in Merida! 😂
Because it is over 100 degrees and in the middle of the week, most people are at school or at work

Mexico is great for the soul compared to the United States. Where's their's always chaos 😊
Very true. Thanks for sharing!
do you get paid from a traveling company to advertise moving to Mexico? How did you ended up in Mexico
Great question! I actually don't get paid by anyone. It would be nice to get some sponsors like that though! Who knows maybe in the future. Long story how I ended up in Mexico but you can watch this video for more info on how I got here 6 years ago and why ruclips.net/video/Akp5vRcMtIE/видео.html
@@JoseArteagaTravels my life took an unexpected turn after living in the US for a long time and I am trying to figure things out here in Mexico I live in acuña coahuila and is not the best place I've heard so many good things about Merida but I don't know how to go about visiting and stuff like that.
