I'd offer 2 for 30 mil and cap him at 26 minutes. That's all he is worth in actual playing ability at this stage! If not I'd let him walk. GET MO BAMBA! He's shooting 3s better than Klay! He can protect the rim, changes shots, can rim run and rebound. He can play with TJD, Draymond or even Looney!
They also need more defense around Curry and another ball handler. He gets switched onto and exposed every play.
It's time to let Klay walk and unlock Moody! You can also play Wiggins at sg... but I'd be really happy if they flipped him for exp Bruce Brown, since GP2 is only good for about 5 games a season.
Sign Bamba, Batum, PippenJr or Dunn. Release CP3. Let Klay walk.

I love Klay but they already payed him +70mil for those 2 years he missed... and any of us would let them cut our Achilles and paid rehab for a million let alone 70mil! Truth is he's not what they need right now. There's way too much pressure on Curry right now and his skills don't take pressure off unless he's on fire. Sure, they can make things interesting if he's there, but I think if we sign him (no matter the number), we're essentially forgoing any chance at another title (maybe we don't have one anyway). The winning formula is long, smart 3 and D wings who can shoot around Steph and Draymond. Klay just isn't that anymore. I don't mind bringing Klay back to see them end their careers together, but I don't see how he makes THIS team better at this point in his career.

As great as he is, father time is definitely catching up with him and his body just can’t take it anymore. Cool, at the end of the day. As a die hard warriors fan. I watch this team suffer sooo many times in post season and not even making it to the playoffs. I 💯 respect Klay. He was part of the success.
I don’t want that relationship to end bad because he will get his jersey retire and have a statue at Chase.
The fact is, his attitude was fixed towards the end of the season. He was making his buckets off the bench and he had a great attitude. I think many of you guys are stuck of the negatives and not look at the positives that he showed towards the end. That’s what matters most.
You can blame Klay as much as you want but the way I see is the warriors can absolutely find a role for him. Warriors need more size and athleticism. Klay will never be the same defender again but he can be a focal part of the offense where they can mask his defense.

    1. Resign Klay for 18-23 mil a year. He’s a bench player now but we know what he can bring offensively when he’s hot (emphasis on WHEN he’s hot)
    2. Trade Podz+Wiggins for Kyle kuzma and cap filler. Podz looks like a true vocal leader and he may be able to change the culture in Washington with Poole and Wiggins known to play better together.
    3. Try to nab Tyus jones and Isaiah Hartenstein. You’re cutting it close to the apron but Tyus isn’t going for more than 18 and neither will I.Hartenstein.
    4. Bench Dray for kuzma and allow him to work with Klay off the bench and create for him. Steph doesn’t need Draymond to score and Steph needs to adjust in his old age and facilitate more when needed. Also as true punishment for dray’s behavior costing the team these past two years.
    5. Moody and Kuminga will start the sg and sf positions. They can defend at a high level (Kuminga when engaged) and have shown the ability to score on their own. Trust that they can make further strides in their development to help Steph next year.
    6. If everything goes well,
You have a starting lineup of Steph-moody-Kuminga-kuzma-Trayce/hartenstein
    Bench: jones-Klay-gp2-dray-Trayce/I.Hart
Looney can get minutes potentially but he should try to commit to a Mo Speights role to help space the floor off the bench if we can’t get Hart in FA.

Dont compaer Kobe to Klay. KOBE was and the only Lakers face and their ineptness of managing the team made KOBE more important than the contract they paid him. GSW as it stands SO Long as CURRY is in the team would be a first round exit at best as a team. The reson why GSW was very successful all those gears is because guys like IGUODALA and a peak Klay Thompson covered for Steph CURRY horrible defense. Think about it even if STEPhs scores 40 points a bench player who is offensive minded will at least drop 30 on Steph amd it use to be KLAY and IGGY covered and backed him up on the defensive side. Then you got DRAYMOND who is so overrated and now is a liability as a teamamte. So even if you pay Klay 20$ mil per year both Steph n Draymond are almost 70$ mil. Thats 90 mil on players that are no longer close to their peak. Then look at their competition if they actually kept that budget. BOTH THE WOLVES AND OKC are just better and younger The Lakers have still a better roster DENVER is still the champ with Jokic and lets not forget SPURS woth WEMBY will eventually improved. GSW needs to revamp quick and sad to say none of their 3 stars are the answer specially for the salary they command. If they keep that core they wont sniff the championship maybe another decade if their lucky.

    1. Bruh anything more than the vet minimum and a 7/8-man role is too much for Klay.
    2. I've been saying AD should have been the UNANIMOUS DPOY after the All-star break and this series is just further proof. AD is just a better 3-Level defender and hes quite literally the only + defender in the starting LA linup. Gobert is surrounded by studs and they actually play just as well without him

Imagine we do a deal with Atlanta (now that they got the first overall pick they could upgrade at center), sign/ trade klay and looney for Clint and Bojan. The problem with Klay isn’t Klay, it’s Kerr. Kerr won’t objectively coach Klay Draymond, Loon, Wiggs and Steph anymore. Klay resented being benched, but he still accepted it; but Kerr went with Klay and the 2022 starters while he rejected the young players losing game after game, including the play-in. I think Klay and Dray and Wiggs could kill off the bench, but they are no longer starters on a winning team that wants to compete for a title. They’ve outlasted almost everyone, but their time as the main players is done. So is KD’s, LeBron’s and even Steph’s to an extent. The Dubs need a new offense where Steph is often option 2, a new defense where Draymond can play in shorter spurts at PF and NOT help off ball the majority of the time, with Trayce at center. Start Steph, Moses at 2, Kuminga at 3, find a Naz Reid style player for your 4, and TJD at 5, and Podz is your 6th man. And develop Gui, now

I agree with everything you said, but the $40M over 2 years would be received by Klay as an "Insult". I believe a 3rd year is very important to Klay... I believe the Warriors if interested need to put together a package which incorporates the 3rd year into the deal. Maybe something that reflects 3 years and $58M... Just a thought....

He was asked about it, but he didn't complain. He's sacrificed a lot, so it was only fair that they give him his money. Don't ask him to give up his money when he has already sacrificed by taking so much less.

Well, it kinda comes down to whether you think this core can get back to the playoffs. Haven’t been back since that fools gold 4th title. I let Klay go, find a dump for Wiggins, release Paul, and find a new home for Draymond. Btw-Klay is not worth $20m. He’s been shooting the team out of games ever since he came back. Get back out of the tax and start the next gen with the new guys. Don’t go chasing with this core. They’re done and they’ve showed us two years in a row.

You guys gave Chris Paul 33m plus but can't give your homegrown guy 25 plus! you guys need a strong 1a and Klay can be consistent like when Durant was around. if he leaves you will need 2 more players. also Draymond is getting 25m and he can't score, but the shooter that you need cant get 25m also....stop the CAP!!! you all are emotional. All of you guys are mad if you aren't getting paid enough and would go to a different place.

I feel like I’m going crazy. Klay was not a winning player last year. He had a negative net rating. A PER below 14, iirc. And a below average true shooting. He had one of the worst defensive ratings on the team. And he and Steph had a negative net rating together. You can’t be saying you care about winning next year, and are talking about bringing him back on a gross overpay. If y’all want a nostalgia tour, say that. But this ain’t about winning here. This is about nostalgia.

Like we can’t offer you the money Orlando will for 2 years but what about in 4. like we’re committed long term , just like we have been when we paid you post injury for essentially 2 years of rehab. Pay him like the best 6man in the league cause that’s who he is now on a championship team.

Why not offer him 4 years at 20m/per, so he can finish his career with Steph and Draymond? I doubt that any team will give him that many years. Klay wants to feel wanted and to finish his career, the right way. The big 3 may only play 2 more years anyway, so I doubt that Klay will finish out a 4 year contract. It's a win win for both sides.

Klay Thompson is not the problem or the solution for the Warriors. If the Dubs dont get more 2 way players and size, it diesnt matter. They will not be able to compete in the West. Considering that they have signed Kerr and Draymond, it doesn't bode well for a change in style pf play which is what would be most beneficial for Klay. Klay needs to go play for Orlando, Philadelphia or any other cap space contender. Given Kerr's aversion to change, Klay would do well to end his career on his own terms elsewhere.

Is the Klay conversation not moot unless the Warriors can decide (and then communicate) that a lower contract means his role will be completely reduced? The problem with not keeping Klay is you lose his salary slot. He can only be replaced with a vet min deal. You can't use his money for anyone else. If he goes, you have another slot to fill and over the cap space anyway. Vet mins and a possible MLE will have to fill out the roster. Not a good team either way.
