Way to stay calm . It’s not easy when ya have car troubles. It’s nice you have your cabin with you so have a place to stay . It can always be much worse . Was a beautiful place to be stuck for four days. Your truck has been awesome , hope they get her fixed .
My wife and two of her friends were on their way to Arizona in a diesel schoolie towing a 24 foot enclosed trailer when they broke down in Texas. It took them 3 days to get someone to fix the bus. An 86 year old retired diesel mechanic just happened by to the gas station they were broken down at. He fixed them up and they made it back home to Michigan uneventful. Things do happen and can be very stressfull. Hopefully you are enjoying your time by now. Thanks for a great video.
There are so many blessings in this video. So much could have gone wrong, but didn't. As my beloved late hubby used to say, when camping, you can never be prepared enough. He would plan our trips for weeks. Packed so much gear, but each outing, I could see how important all that planning was. I'm brand new to your channel, and I love it. Reminds me of our camping adventures. My late hubby took me all over the PNW. We were both Oregonians, with a deep love of the outdoors. You be safe. ❤
Way to keep it real. I've seen brand-new rigs break down in remote places. It happens to the best of us. What an epic rescue all captured on video. Happy it all worked out and you could smile at the end.
You had me at "Broken Down" brother, but got me with "Always Lookin' Up." I think most of your viewers can relate to being "Stuck in a Rut" or "Broken & Down" in 2020/21. Life's not about the easy victories or simple fixes, it's about the quest of surmounting the seemingly unconquerable. Rock On Timmy, you're video may have inspired more than a few of us who may have lost faith in believin'.
In the nearby future only aristocrats will drive anymore. The poor people will be up on the porch having as much babies as possible. Over $16,000,000 worth each. The rest of the people will be in the gutter. When I see you in the gutter I’ll throw you a bottle of wine. Bloomberg, I’ll be right back with some sugarless wine 😅hi, vanilla tea here. I’m on a mission. To get sugarless wine. Afterwards I’ll be throwing mad dog 20/20. Everybody.
Oh Timmy, never a dull moment. By the time you’re done with it all, you should have a brand new truck. Hopefully you’re well on your way home now. 🤞🏼🙌🌈
I was right at the top of the hill were you broke down for four days on September 16th camping just above your friend with the Jeep. If I broke down camp just a little bit earlier I would’ve passed you at your break down spot.
It’s very cool how everyone is so supportive and willing to share a helping hand when in need it used to be like that every where I fortunately live in a small mountain town and it’s the same way here as it is there take care of that truck and it will take care of you I have a 97 f250 7.3 and it’s gotten me through some pretty sketchy places
I know it seemed like a lot, but $1K for that tow was a good deal. I once paid $600 to get pulled almost 100 yards up a snowy hill on a Forrest service road in NM. Wrecker driver had a 2 hour round trip to get me. He did the whole job within 4x4 1 ton dodge truck. It was a lot of $$, but I was glad to get out.
I learned a lot from this video....most importantly, keep your cool. I can only imagine how I would have reacted to all this. Lesson learned. Timmy is all chill
This has to be one of the most realistic podcast ever produced I can’t get over the video and editing quality but there are some things, and I gotta be honest or I wouldn’t be me Tim, you sometimes take some crazy risks Now that comment may piss off some of the other following but too bad for them I don’t pull any punches and definitely speak my mind Enjoying the episodes Be safe Tim, your life’s valuable and you are appreciated…..
Good luck. The place I used to work, has a F450 with a 7.3 diesel and it had a problem similar and the problem was the wires and plug going to the cam sensor.
Yes this is a bummer, unfortunately as we know vehicles "ALL BREAK DOWN" and with your chosen lifestyle, and where you choose to live, it can be really tough when they do break down. Wishing you the best🙏😎🚚
I really feel this because my pos psd is ooc . Screws me out of my trip to my land in Arizona again this year, covid got me last year . Gotta put $$ into my truck , actually thinking the psd diesel is too unreliable might switch to a big gasser , at least they usually start or it’s just a fuel pump , not 10 different things
From South Africa had same issue with drive shaft, Landrover disco 2 driveshaft bolts 9/16 only imperial bolts on the entire vehicle.. Everything else is metric.... took me 4h with a small adjustable wrench to remove.... lesson learnt, two 9/16 in my toolkit
Tim you are a good man! Better than most! Good luck! You will do well!.......Why didn't your friends pull you down to town?????? If I had the chance, with their bad ass rigs, i would have loved to have tried.......jmho....
Years ago, I was insured with USAA. My dad was a Captain in the Army retired. My engine blew in my Acura skiing Had an 85 mile tow. But back then (1994), they covered it. I Dropped a used engine in with 35,000 broken in miles on it from a junkyard. Drove it 8 more years.
I need to save a little bit of money and get yourself a 12 valve or 24 valve 5.9 cummins swap very reliable motor but the meantime fix what you got save up for that Cummins in it. And you need a G 56 manual transmission and I believe you’ll be in good shape that truck or go anywhere good video keep up the good work can’t wait to see you next one and thank you you’re awesome
As I am watching this I just returned from dropping our fifth wheel off to have new shackles put on after noticing while airing up the tires that two of the shackle links are broken. They called and are going with a More-ride system that has a little more beef and just maybe we will head for Arizona as planned next week. Looking forward to see how your saga continues in upcoming episodes ( I've seen where in real time you are back in Alaska ). Good luck. Keep playing that music! Burlington Bill here busking from at home and on the road here on You Tube.
I just about lost it when the tow truck broke down!!??? I agree you picked a beautiful spot to break down that's for sure. I'm wondering if you're wishing you were back in Alaska about now? This is one expensive road trip! You always keep it positive though!!!
My cripes, did your spark arrestor make it back out, lol? Glad you got 'er out of there in one piece and didn't even have to take the drive shaft off. Imagine, even had two Found On Road Dead's at one point! I love that you even got to help him out with parts and tools. You're certainly learning a lot about your rig and I got a feeling, you made that show, Lord knows you earned it. And I had a thought but maybe one of those collapsible e-bikes would be beneficial to have around? Did the one wheeler ever make it up the hill in one go? Thanks for all you do and for putting this out there for us. You're right, hard to consider yourself too hard done by with a view like that eh. Keep on keepin' on and cheers from Eastern Canada.
Geez, when it rains it pours! Glad you've made it out safely! That's an awesome truck and I admire your patience and staying calm with all of those frigging crazzay things going wrong!
You seemed pretty calm and kept going with the videos. The fact is that breakdowns happen. It could have been worse, but you stayed calm and got through it... one challenge at a time.
That turn by Scholfeild pass is a bad angle. That first downhill is sketchy for sure. Knarly road from Emarald to Gothic! Crazy tow! 🤯 Hope you made the show!🤙
I'm sure I'm not the first comment to warn you that riding in a towed vehicle is against the law. Hope some pud snitch doesn't call the feds on that tow company. BTW, I grew up in that region and am currently not far from there. I pretty much know most nooks and crannies. Western CO is awesome. Thanks for sharing your adventures!
Hey Timmy,,,,,, well, I've been following your escapades, but I've got to ask you why you were going to disconnect your rear-drive shaft, when all you have to do is,,,,,, shift your T-Case into Neutral..... just say-in...... BD in Alaska....
So very stressful when these things happen, especially when you,'re far away from home. At least it wasn't on a holiday weekend, with no shops open. Now you need to get Phil and Brian up to Alaska.
So what was wrong with your truck and what did the repair shop do to fix it? I watch to learn these things so I know better what parts to bring with me on my adventurers. For example, I never thought about spare power steering hoses before but I know I will be including them now with my spare radiator belts and hoses, spare starter, spare alternator etc. Thank you.
Hey man, sorry your truck is costing you. Stay cool bro. I used to drive the same tow rig except the truck was 10 years older. Good thing that sling didn't break with more speed. Should of had weight on the chains. hmmmm
My F350 started doing that to me at 300,000 miles but since I've replaced almost everything on it at 500,000 miles on hope to get another quarter million before I have to rebuild the engine
First time I’ve ever been excited to see a you tube video! So glad it worked out in the end and what the hell, you fixed some shit that was eventually going to crater anyway! Concert looks awesome. Safe travels brother 😎

Where is this beautiful scenery located? I know you in Colorado I believe that’s where you were being towed you but where is this beautiful scenery that you were broken down? Hey. Why didnt he have dollies to put on the back just for this occasion? I had to when it was AWD or 4by4? Did you ask for a body job tow truck? It's a tractor trailer for heavy loads like you use for buses and garbage trucks?
Man you have nerves of steel! Stay safe
And I love the way you handle things when shit hits the fan
Timmy… I really hope you look back at these old videos to see how resilient and tenacious you are. Well done brother!

Omg the anxiety this causes... glad you got the old girl fixed
I'm gonna share this in my dodge ram group. A ford found on road dead pulled by another that also breaks down. They'll get a kick outta that. 😅
lol prob will!
Wow. What an experience. Hard on the nerves. But it all worked out.
that tow truck driver is a legend

Gunnison CO. A beautiful location. Was there in 1984.
Just a regular Allen wrench will sometimes fit in a HEX head star bolt
yup!
Nice rig. Sorry for the break down. Come out to quartzsite
Gorgeous glaciated landscape! Thanks for sharing. Glad it only cost some money, nothing more serious.
No worries!

Lots of fun to watch. I think adventures are supposed to be this way, it doesn't have to be smooth all the time. Those old fords are tough.
That tow truck is a BEAST! Sorry about the luck but what a beautiful view to be in such a stressful situation! Hope all is well 💗🤘
FYI you can use a hex/Allen key in most star bit bolts
I could but didn't wanna strip it, pretty hi-torque bolt.
Best of luck. Lived in alaska for 18 years. Yes I broke down in alaska many times. That's where I learned to wrench. Great channel !!
Thank you!
This has been a fun adventure to watch. Glad that wasn't me in your situation.
So sad that I didn't know you were broke down.. I would have had you running in short order, without a tow. I live in Montrose.
lol dangit

Lol I clicked on the video and was like hey! I know that tow truck.. lol I live in gunnison and dream about seeing Alaska so I watch your videos..
I have a 1994 GMC van I rebuilt the whole thing the trick is to change the parts before they break
Just a note that the power steering takes trans fluid not power steering fluid
Yup, I usually put tranny fluid in there.
