Although the songs of the movie was composed by Kannur Rajan, this song Swaninatha is a kriti by the saint Muthuswami Dhikshitar. This song is especially famous for Lalettan and his lip sync prowess.

I think Mohanlal for sure has interest in Carnatic music, when he hums/sings he has an above average way of singing which harkens to an interest in the way of singing Carnatic music, in my opinion! I was very young when this movie was released, I don't remember much, but I think it was kind of a sad plotline, coz my eyes were tearing up when I was seeing this! The power of memories, even long forgotten ones!
