Reef Guardian Strat: The reef skip is achieved by pushing the 1st medium and 2nd small past 80% as the 2nd reef portal completes, you can see an example of it being done at 10:09. The medium and small reef guardians are supposed to make a guaranteed run when they hit the 80% threshold. Mediums will split then run, smalls will just run. If they are in the middle of coning, the mediums will stop coning, split then run. Smalls will finish coning and then run. After their first runs, all subsequent reef runs are based on a timer, but subsequent needs to run can be absolved by other reefs running. However, due to some weird way the codebase was written, the first run of the medium/small can be completely skipped if some mechanics line up correctly. Namely, you push two reef guardians to run right when you complete a reef. This makes one of the reefs not do his first 80% run at all, so you can skip doing a whole reefheart, and achieve what is so called a 4-reefheart, where every reef guardian is killed after they run once, save for the skipped reef. Whether or not a run is a 3 or 4 reef is RNG-ish. It depends on whether or not the last small reef guardian cones before running. If he cones, we can giganuke him before running because smalls do not break their coning animation to run. The purpose of holding the big guy away from the medium and small is really to give the DDs something to hit while 2nd portal is completing. Everyone parses on the big guy, and we assign a couple of arcanist to beam sideways and chip away at the medium and small stacked on the 2nd portal to edge their health closer to the 80% threshold. As the MT, I taunt the big guy into the stack so he walks in right as 2nd reef completes, and I time it such that the medium and small get bursted past 80% as the portal completes. The big guy walking in is basically our cue for DDs to start omega-bursting the big stack.
Hey wonder!is it true that as mt,you dont need to retaunt the reefs if you already taunted them once?seems that way in your video. And if that is the case for the reef guardians that comes back from reef aswell that they dont need to be retaunted?Cheers mate
That is correct. All the reef guardians are sticky after you taunt them once (each) and will keep aggro on you even after running to reefs and waking up again. Note that sticky targets can de-aggro from you if you get CCed, though I haven't specifically tested that on this fight. There's only the bear and the horse that can CC you on this fight though.
@@venora809 the bosses are generally sticky but the adds can lose taunt especially when DDs are close to them hitting them. The bosses in general do not lose aggro until you get CCed by something like frigidarium
