    Hey Reynaldo, a big thanks to your video. I also own a 2014 CLA250. I had the exact same problem for the drivers side light, when switching the bulb to the other side it worked. I bought the replacement balast and now works like new. Your also right about the bumper, takes longest time and a pain in the ass to remove. But save bunch of money VS having the dealer do the work. Again, thank you for all you tips and tools recommendations super helpful!!
    James!!

    Did you have to get it programmed by Mercedes after you put the new ballast in??

    • @ReynaldoVelasquez

      Not at all. Just a simple plug and play. If it ever goes out just buy another $50 ballast and replace. This is an easy 30 minute project… maybe if it’s your first time it may take 1hr if you’re being extra cautious.

      Universal. It’s the same on the driver side too. But just in case…. I made sure to search for “passenger” / “driver” side….. juuuussst in case

    • @ReynaldoVelasquez
      @ReynaldoVelasquez  Год назад

      Never worked when I tried. See if the fuse is busted first. If it’s fine then it’s probably the headlight itself (ballast)

    Is the ballast also the issue if the high beam is not working? There is only one bulb for this type of headlight assembly (mine is BI-XENON) and the bulb is supposed to act as low and high beam. MB Dealership suggested to replace the entire headlight assembly for $1600++ (surprise! wtf to that)...

    • @ReynaldoVelasquez
      @ReynaldoVelasquez  Год назад +1

      Yeah well, first replace just the bulb. That’s an easy $60-150 on Amazon or any auto parts store. (You’re right, the one bulb is both high and low beam. I believe there is a little moving flap inside the lens housing that opens up fully to allow the high beam) if the Bulb doesn’t fix the problem, replace the ballast… 99% of the time this will fix the issue. You only need to replace the entire housing if your housing lens is cracked allowing water to leak in… or if the “eyebrow” led strip goes out for the blinker and daytime running lamp. Also if the ballast doesn’t work, there is also an igniter that helps the ballast. You could replace that for about $50 too. But that has never gone out on me. It’s located right near the ballast on the housing. Hope this helps, and sorry for the long response. Ask if you have any more questions

    • @ReynaldoVelasquez
      @ReynaldoVelasquez  Год назад

      Also…. If the “little flap” isn’t opening inside the housing, allowing you to get a full high beam…. But the bulb is working… then yeah it may be that little flap inside that malfunctioned… but I would still look on eBay. I found a gently used headlamp housing for only about $600 including shipping. Works exactly the same. And just transfer your old ballast on to it… or buy a new ballast and bulb etc. hope this helps

      @@ReynaldoVelasquez , much appreciated your reply about inquire. cheers to that! my bulb is new, i got a new ballast (which I am yet to to replace). What is the igniter? Do you still what the part number is and where to get it? Thanks!

    • @ReynaldoVelasquez
      @ReynaldoVelasquez  Год назад

      @@jjaafar I don’t have the part number but the igniter is near the ballast once you remove the headlight assembly, you will see another silver piece of metal near the ballast. I believe that may be it. You can just google the part or on Amazon. It’s also a simple plug and play part too.

    I have a Mercedes Benz c300 and the passenger headlight is foggy and has water in the headlight housing. Now the headlights fails to on, do i need to replace the whole headlight or just the ballast please. Get back to me asap. Thank you

    • @ReynaldoVelasquez
      @ReynaldoVelasquez  2 года назад +1

      So that exact thing happened to me before. When the moisture would dry up it would turn on again. But eventually the fog shorted out the ballast. You can replace the ballast only… but eventually with the first rain, car wash, or early morning dew… it will eventually blow out your new ballast and headlight again. So yes You will need to get that housing replaced for sure. eBay had some pretty good used headlights for sale. Just make sure to look at the screw brackets on the eBay listing photos. Sometimes a bracket may be broken off the housing, where it’s supposed to install to fender area (if the car was in an accident before etc) Make sure it’s all intact (so your headlight won’t be loose or flimsy when you install it) and check out the lens for yellowing and scratches. Find the best one that makes sense for your situation. Hope this helps.

    • @ReynaldoVelasquez
      @ReynaldoVelasquez  2 года назад

      If it’s the LED XENON version you may need to replace the entire housing. eBay has them for about 600-800. A little pricy but that should fix the problem

      Yeah, if you’ve already tried to replace the headlight bulb itself… and it still isn’t working… it very well could be the ballast. It’s an easy fix. Just a few screws and bolts to take the bumper off and the old headlamp.

    Hi mate, I have a 2014 cla 250! Thanks for the video.
    My problem is that the led daylight light is not working and I get an error that the turn signal does not work, which is not true. It works, but when I turn it on it clicks like crazy in the instrument cluster, but it flashes completely normal in the headlight itself. One thing to note is that when I lock/unlock the car it did not flash. My high and low beams work perfectly. Just the daylight led is not working. With your help I managed to replace first the balast on the bottom of the headlight, but nothing changed. Then I changed the control module which is on the side of the headlight/there was moisture inside/ and now the turn signal flashes when locking/unlocking the car. However, the daylight led came on only for a few seconds and went out again and does not work... I can see the following error codes when I scan with OBD: B177887 and B283F87. It's for the right headlight, left one is working perfect. Also, there has never been any water inside the headlight itself. Do you have any suggestions? Any help is appreciated!

      Hi, so just for you… I went to RockAuto .com (it’s a pretty trusted site) and searched the car. There are part item numbers there but I don’t know if they are specific to that manufacturer who makes the lamps. But the number was: MB2502224 for the HID / xenon type. And for the Halogen type : MB2502222. The prices for the housing are : HID $1184 and Halogen for $200-$400. I should also mention that I did buy Mine (HID /Xenon) used on eBay for about $600 it worked perfectly. All I did was replace the ballast and bulbs just in case. I hope this helps. But check out rock auto and ebay for sure. Let me know if you need help on anything else

    • @ReynaldoVelasquez
      @ReynaldoVelasquez  2 года назад +1

      How weird. But I’ve been wondering about converting headlights back and forth into LED’s and halogens. As far as the blinker… it might be a glitch if that bulb blew out, or if you have the LED eyebrow then you may need to replace the whole headlamp housing to get it to work again

      If you mean the little “daytime running lights” the little eyebrow made of LED’s I believe you’ll have to replace the whole headlamp housing. You can’t just replace the little LED’s. You can find a good condition used headlamp housing on eBay for about $600-$800 depending on the quality. Or some third party aftermarket light housings for about $200-$400. Hope this helps

    • @ReynaldoVelasquez
      @ReynaldoVelasquez  2 года назад

      @@schleiflife8793 no I don’t have any moisture in the clear housing. However… I once had a cracked headlight housing and water would leak into where the bulb was. It would short circuit the light and the inside glass would get foggy. I tried using clear plastic glue to patch up the holes. But water kept leaking in. Eventually I had to just replace a brand new housing, ballast, and bulb. But in this video… the only issue was a bad ballast.

    Hi, my passenger side headlight got wet from cleaning the engine, blew the bulb and replaced the bulb and still will not working, also was causing the led strips to not work until I put a new head light bulb in, once I’ve done that the led lights worked again but head would not, could this be the ballast too?

    • @ReynaldoVelasquez
      @ReynaldoVelasquez  Год назад

      It could be the ballast. There’s also another computer module right next to the ballast that I suspect controls the led strip. I replaced both and they worked again. Also another thing to consider is if water is getting into the clear headlight housing… it may look foggy like condensation is trapped in there… if that’s the case you may need to replace the entire housing, I found good used housings on ebay in good condition. The ballast and other module are only about $50 or so on Amazon. Hope this helps a little. The only way to know for sure is to replace the ballast.
