Smh basketball got to be the only American sport where blatant disrespect of past eras and past generations is not only allowed but damn near encouraged
This convo is extremely inane.Where do the 90's finish and the "new era" begins? Pierce, Garnett, Bryant and Iverson where partly in a "post-90s" era that begun before 2000, when travels and carries became more tolerated (look at Pierce highlights, he carries all the time) - from then, "ball handle" had to change, accommodating what was then allowed to do, meaning that it's not that those before couldn't do it, but weren't allowed, so not anyone beside MJ and Kobe having skills or a left hand before 1998 (Ant's take) is simply unrealistic to argue. So in fact the whole era comparison should NOT revolve around best players, would they wouldn't they survive and still be greats, but role players, 6th men, not-star-starters, were they that bad? And no, they weren't. Steve Kerr? 90's role player, could handle and shoot, would improve his stats in today's game. Vinny del Negro, Sean Elliot, Kenny Smith (yes, that Kenny Smith), Jeff Hornacek, Marciulionis, Dell Curry, Wesley Person, Nick Anderson, Dana Barros, BJ Armstrong, Kendall Gill, Mookie Blaylock, Hershey Hawkins, I could go on and on, these guards were all but bad skilled, but since most of then weren't flashy, no one younger knows them, and seing stats and ppg you class them erroneously as weak and "not surviving". The bigs? It's even worse, because players like Smits, Ostertag, Divac, Sam Perkins, Moses Malone Olden Polynice, Matt Geiger were known to know how to shoot and pass but were made fun of, because they were too "weak" in the post to compete athletically against Shaq. The changes of game and rules would have made them better. Let's be true, look at the famous 96 Jazz-Rockets 6th playoff game where Stockton shot bricks and collects turnovers the first half to rally the charge the second one, this first half Ostertag leads the Jazz until injured, and Hornacek does not take all the 3s he can (when he takes them, he scores) even when open clearly because he was asked not to. It's not a skill standpoint. In today's reality, both would have even greater an asset. All takes comparing then and now are relying on lack of knowledge of game, training, and human versatility: people would have translated to another era whatever needed, and would have worked on what they would have had to. Stars may not have been the same, but you'd still have other ones to replace them.
All facts and not one opinion new fans just don't understand basketball was very different back in the day from how rules were enforced too which player archetypes were popular it's an almost nonsensical practice to take players who played in a different era when the overall philosophy on basketball was way different and plop them in a different era where the philosophy on basketball again is just much different and in the same breath it is nonsensical to take players today as is plop them in a past era where rules were enforced differently team structure was different etc. and just expect them to dominate because "huurrr playas todae r jus 2 advance"

he was nothing special
@Himmyjewett so we just going to ignore the steals record
@Himmyjewett assist record, .51 from the field, playing 82 games for 17 seasons, averaging 2.2 steals, and 10 assist. He basically Chris Paul that stayed with healthy Blake griffin for his entire career.
@lament3178 "Basically Chris Paul" except with worse shooting, worse athleticism, worse scoring bag, worse handles, worse IQ, and was guarding far worse players than cp3
@@notanfbiagent6835 I respectfully disagree

u doin a quick review on lones or glokks new albums?
Wsg trey
KG was hitting far ass 2 pointers so he can probably shoot a 3
Ninja really rattled off 10 point guards to say Isiah Thomas was not top 10 pg that’s called standing on business
I'm takin Isaiah over brunson sorry similar size while Isaiah was a better passer and comparable scorer
how about a top two-way players in the league video. 10, 12, maybe 15
Low key agree but magic would eat with the amount of space on this generation

Comparing magic to ben simmons should be criminal
How ? Same bag
@@F4LSE_PRMS it just feels wrong
@@F4LSE_PRMS I do understand the argument
@bill_b3ll4mySimmons used to aswell (*midrange*), but realistically passing isn’t cutting it. Every starting guard can pass and hit from midrange, however, nowadays they are bigger, stronger and faster with better defense
Shaq might be like the 4th best center imo (like i'm taking Hakeem, Jokic and Kareem over him)
Bird top 3 won 3 mvp in a row he better than embiid Shaui Tatum winning player in his prime
Yooo treyyyy
U was missing Dikembe mutombo, he was tough back in the day
Ild love for u to do discover discography on suicideboys
Larry Bird would be joe Harris in this era lmao😂
Yeah I was bout to click off this video. Luckily I’m playing Wukong to distract me 😂
Paul pierce is literally just Jayson Tatum but for the thousands
4:42 and still not making out the first roundc
bro if giannis was in the 80's he would average 40 points and 20 rebounds and like 10 blocks a game
No he wouldn't he would constantly be in foul trouble cause all those times he runs over dudes tryna get to the back are getting called offensive fouls all the carries he gets away with today are also bein called and if he isn't with the right coach he isn't even being allowed to take the ball up like that so now he isn't averaging 40 (he would be a monster on defense tho and that's in any era)
New upload 🎉
My fav part is the freestyles
watching a magic game
Wilt going to go crazy in this era 😂
same as bill russel buddy is averaging 30 rebounds in todays game he would lock up embiid and giannis
@@henrytester2534There’s no way u actually believe any old school player is locking up players like Giannis, Webanyama or Embiid for that part. Mf’s would event lock up Bam Adebayo
@@DAAR53 yes
I deadass clicked off on the MJ part😂
jordan is like a more athletic and better kawhi
isiah thomas will mess wembanana up
Wilt probably top 10, but besides that, W list
In my opinion Jordan would be getting some many techs just for celebrating I blame that on refs
Where would you have put Karl Malone and dirk?
Dirk is a superstar if he's plays today
If you put "DominAyton" on Kg in todays league...... its a wrap, DA is crying in the locker room. Also as a pistons fan.... COME ON MAN, ZEKE 20+?? IM DELUSIONAL, BUT COME ON, GIVE HIM SOMETHING BETTER.
Pistons would still be cooked in any era 😭
Magic top 10 not even 5 is nasty nasty work,Charles barkley at 20,Then isaiah thomas is barely a top 10 point guard,Then wilt top 20 oh nah this is why the old heads are always wildin cause you guys are disrespecting like crazy your casualness is showing man plumbers and firemen the average rookie salary in 1960 was 10k which is 85k in today's nba come on bruh

Dwight Howard diddy of nba
Mike
KG
Dirk
Hakeem
Bird
Pete Maravich
Kareem
Just off top my head
Ant wasn’t completely off base. Way more skill nowadays than when Jordan played. But KG smokin crack. And I love KG. But tf he mean “nobody is surviving” back then. Laughable
Kg definitely went a bit overboard but he wasn't all the way wrong take away all the carries and travels that the NBA pretty much never calls anymore allow defenders to really get physical and body these dudes and a lot of your favorite players of today are gettin exposed no cap also the skill gap is very overrated the only thing player today definitely do better than past eras is shooting especially three point shooting most players can barely dribble without carrying or palming the ball and hardly anyone nowadays knows how to operate with their back to the basket
Feel like Tmac would be too 5 minimum
He played in 1748😂
Getting trey
Kidnapping and torturing Rudy Gobert
