- Now I have 3 interhalogen compounds: ICl3, IBr, ICl.
This video about Iodine monobromide.
Heating iodine with bromine up to the point of the deliquation of the whole mass and its later cooling, results in the formation of an interhalogen compound, known as Iodine monobromide - IBr.

Those have to be one of the coolest chemical reactions I've ever seen. That pink/red/orange smoke is unreal.
2:28....autumn and butterflies.....👀
The coolest ever
4:11 the colors!!!
Gets even better when you breath it in 😉
@@yaykruser I have tried it. Now I'm seeing clouds everywhere
Some of those reactions are unbelievably pleasing to the eye. Such rich and dissimilar colors.
And unbelievably irritating to the nose…
This guy keeps bringing up more & more mysterious compound
I'm waiting on the xenon compounds
Yellow chemist your name implies something he's probably saving for a big day😅...
The fumes from the hydrazine hydrate, copper, and aluminum additions were spectacular. Excellent filming of the crystals on the test tube wall also.
The smoke each reaction produces is beautiful.
The macro shot of the crystals are so beautifuls !! 2:30
Happy Ether Bunny Feliks
One of the underrated RUclipsrs.
Very informative and sweet face every time. You deserve my sub!
IBr makes really pretty smoke in its reactions with so many things. Love it!
The crystals looked like some weird cross between birds, butterflies, and some kind of marine flora!
And of course the density and vibrant colours of the fumes were amazing. So pretty, so toxic.
Excited for the ICl video, interhalogen reactions are awesome. Thanks for your hard work on these videos Feliks!
I thought the same thing
I just watched a video about antimony recently and remember them saying it doesn't react with very many things and it's only industrial use is in alloy with lead. Very cool to see it reacting with this compound.
Lovely, beautiful colours of Br and I gases.
Yay, another interhalogen compound! Beautiful reactions, Feliks. I half expected a genie to appear most of the time 😃
It's weird to see a compound actually having properties in-between the elements it's made up of.
Almost genetic in effect.
@@jameswyatt1304 well but genetics dont work in that way
You have a great channel! Your videos are endlessly fascinating.
Violently reactive iodine compounds really love giving off gorgeous colors
Your filming is improving each video :) The reactions look amazing.
Holy shit the colors of the last reaction were beautiful, too bad it is so toxic to inhale that you need to do it in a fume hood :(
Iodine has such a vibrant color,I like it,great video
Those are the most beautiful/energetic looking smokes i've seen.
its quite nice the dramatic sound of the fume extractor preceding the violent reactions takes
Those vapors are absolutely beautiful. They're such nice colors.
Wooow, some cristals looks like a butterfly !
THose are some stuning reactions and shots! Thank you for doing this.
Really enjoyed this video. Great camera setup. Thank you for making my day better.
the best channel for chemistry lessons!👏
I'm so glad this channel has captions or I would never understand a word of it.
What a beautiful reaction
Wow, those reactions with aluminum were spectacular!
Mesmerizing to see those little droplets jump up and react creating the clear reactant. So cool. Keep up the great work 👍
This was a very satisfying watch and really interesting. Thank you
congratulations!!!
you singlehandedly created the hitherto unknown subject of CHEMICAL ART !!
your videos exolanation calm and last but surely not least exotic chemical reactions are top notch!!
Some visually spectacular reactions!
Very interresting and cool video! Love it
That smoke doesn’t look real! Wow! By far the coolest, smoke causing reaction I’ve seen.
Great video and awesome footage! Your camera is very good, I liked to see the crystals on the wall of the test tube and the close up shots of the solids reacting.
amazing colors in these reactions. very cool
Ohhhh you have a lot of fancy reagents 🥵😆 nice video
Reacting an interhalogen compound with N2H4 - now that is something you don't see very often in a lab
true dat
Only the fun ones, but then they usually use monomethyl hydrazine or UDMH.
@@patrickjanecke5894 yeah. UDMH plus CLF3 = goodbye laboratory and surrounding buildings
Splendid colours here!
the vapors of the reaction with antimony or aluminium look absolutely stunning
Beautiful video!! Thank you!!!
The colors are so vibrant
such beautiful colors
Lovely colours!
Soooooo beautiful reacyion😍 i love IBr
Audio Visual feast, love it
Beautiful colors I love bromine
such amazing colours.
Beautiful colours coming off it.
These reactions are amazing and beautiful, thanks for sharing!
Also, in stead of just potassium, would an alloy of different Alkali Metals behave any differently than potassium on its own?
Some of these reactions look great
Mind blowing colours.....
The red or purple smoke looks so dope.
The last one was amezing❤️❤️❤️
each video you remind me of how beautiful chemistry really is
Great video
I think I have a new favourite chemical, I mean it is a highly reactive toxic substance that creates the most beautiful chemical artworks, it is the PERFECT chemical!
Great video buddy thanks for sharing
Ngl those smokes are incredibly beautiful
Stunningly beautiful.
Cool stuff!
I'm here to see beautiful colors
keep up the good work!
Thanks for the videos. Dude, it doesn't take much bromine to have "a strong smell"- the element's name comes from "bronos" meaning a stench. 👍 Beautiful dendritic crystals.
Best youtuber
Thank you. 👍
Thanks for vidios!
The smoke is gorgeous
I really appreciate that you do not just simply replay some shots but instead take some dedicated slomo shots. Your editing is superb as always, my friend.
I would like to suggest that you make the sound in your video louder. Especially what you say. Your videos are always pretty quiet in comparison to most videos in RUclips. On my phone the speakers are pretty shit so it can be hard to listen to videos in general, especially when the video sound is quiet :)
Beautiful
I am your big fan chemical force
Chemistry should be taught by example; this is a good example. Therefore happiness (and toxic fumes) result. 😍
I'm curious if we could see the reaction of these interhalogen compounds and some kind of boron compound (diborane?) and get some nice green color in the mix.
Yeah sure why not go all the way and pour ClF5 on decaborane that would be a show
Zajefajne
Wow, cool - Sowad Sikder
The best colors I've seen. What is this reagent used for? Could you show?
s2 esses videos sao fodas d+ slc, infelizmente n consigo contribuir. mas deixo aqui meu comentário e curtidas voce é foda colega
That’s so cool. Gorgeous colours and very interesting compounds. Do you work for Sigma?😁
2:28....autumn and butterflies.....👀
Great visuals here, earned a subscriber!
P.s how cool would it be if cigarette smoke was that colour
More interhalogen compounds :D
oooh yea thats the stuff, soo subbed
The most beautiful smoke bomb I’ve ever seen
I apreciate the new bottle, thats pretty ma ly to crack a new one on cam. Im moist now.
Congratulascion
Cool rXns!
Nice
Purple smoke is the best smoke :-D
Very visually entertaining reactions. However, the chemical processes in white on a white background are often non-legible. I would suggest using a dark grey background box, or the least, a thick black outline.
I think I found my new favorite chemical
Nice colors.
What about ICl and BrCl? The former is a brown liquid or a solid, the latter is a yellow gas. If not, then halogen fluorides?
Make Nitrogen Trihalides next please. Their explosive reactions are awesome!!
Nice video I really enjoyed it, but it would be great if you tell us the real world use cases. Why would a chemist buy it? To react it with x get y and use it for z. You can buy it in a bottle so I guess it's used for something.
Nice vid! I used IBr for determination of the Iodine value. Measuring the unsaturation of fats. Could you react it with an alkene/alkyne? Like cyclohexene/-yne?
I remember doing that one (and being a lab TA later) in first-year university chem. Warm the sample with a known excess amount of IBr solution to brominate the double bonds in a sample of vegetable oil, add iodide to convert the residual IBr to I_2, then titrate the I_2 with thiosulfate using starch as an indicator. It's been a long time.
Ooof. That purple smoke looks pretty. I want my scented candles to do that.
it will probably kill you
@@brandynamite3022 Noooo! Really?
Will it blend guy;
Don't Breathe this!
Very cool multvolored halogen smoke. Dont breathe it.. 😲
IT would be nice to see the chemical reactions and electron transfer.
Nice video! Are you sure about this reaction? 2K + 2 IBr ---- 2KBr + I2. 2K + IBr --- KI + KBr looks more intuitive.
6:14
I thought soilds could not react. :O ⚗️
Are there any plans for videos about the rare earth metals?
