  • Now I have 3 interhalogen compounds: ICl3, IBr, ICl.
    This video about Iodine monobromide.
    Heating iodine with bromine up to the point of the deliquation of the whole mass and its later cooling, results in the formation of an interhalogen compound, known as Iodine monobromide - IBr.
    ==========REACTION TIMING==========
    0:00 Heating iodine with bromine
    0:20 Iodine monobromide bottle demonstration
    1:17 IBr crystals (macro video)
    2:49 IBr + H2SO4
    3:18 IBr + KOH
    4:06 IBr + N2H4*H2O (hydrazine hydrate)
    4:45 IBr + K
    5:14 IBr + Cu

    I would like to suggest that you make the sound in your video louder. Especially what you say. Your videos are always pretty quiet in comparison to most videos in RUclips. I remember doing that one (and being a lab TA later) in first-year university chem. Warm the sample with a known excess amount of IBr solution to brominate the double bonds in a sample of vegetable oil, add iodide to convert the residual IBr to I_2, then titrate the I_2 with thiosulfate using starch as an indicator. It's been a long time.
