Awesome video really helped me decide what to do! The other con which made me not roof mount a panel was you have to park/camp in the sun, where a blanket with extension means you can avoid that. We planned on doing this but ended up buying a 5m cable and will connect to our ute's battery and draw bar to add some additional charging to the battery if the weather is shit
I did try and use a flexi panel straight on top of a steel canopy with no air gap... Dont do that 26 deg and fried the panel.. Fiberglass isnt as hot as steel BUT you need a an air gap. Learning is apart of life :)

Even on the fibreglass I’ve noticed how hot it gets.
The perforated board seems to have done the trick so far 👍🏽
