- Russia claims to have captured 959 Ukrainian soldiers from Mariupol’s Azovstal plant. However, Donetsk separatist leader said top Ukrainian commanders at Azovstal are not among those who have surrendered so far. Donetsk governor accused Russia of hitting a school in Avdiivka with banned phosphorus bombs on May 18. Russian Deputy PM Yury Borisov has said the troops in Ukraine have started to receive the latest S-500 air defence systems.
Meanwhile, a Russian soldier accused of shooting dead a civilian has pleaded guilty in Ukraine's first war crimes trial. NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg hailed Finland and Sweden’s “historic step” after the countries submitted an application for membership.

Ukraine is in Europe with a functioning democracy being attacked by Russia. The vast majority of other war-torn countries have vastly different dynamics and are more complicated than the nation-state nation-state war in Ukraine. Add to that the fact that many of Ukraine's bordering countries really do not like Russia and do not want Russia on their borders and you start to get the idea.
S-500s not being send to Ukraine, but to Russian army itself to defend Russian territory. This system will not participate in combat actions taking place in Ukraine .

So if you have to operate near civilians, you should use precission guided conventional ammunition to reduce collateral damage. Because the west can't directly supply jets so it's provided parts to fix Ukraine's large decommitioned fleet that's why you see only old types of jets on the Ukrainian side while the US has pushed some other countries decomtined fleets that were in the Soviet union because counting even only the fully confirmed take down of Ukrainian jets their fleet would have been long gone
