Thanks for another great report! Brought back memories of my very first long haul flight. KLM 747-400 Amsterdam to Ho Chi Minh City via Kuala Lumpur in February 1995. Of course those days there was no back of the seat entertainment, just a number of TVs suspended from the ceiling of the aircraft and you had to watch what was on, I remember the main movie was Forest Gump. The cabin crew came around about 3 or times with water & juice. There was also smoking at the rear of the aircraft. How things have changed!

Yes times have most certainly changed since the 70´s, 80´s and 90´s where there were around two feature films played on long haul flights from a projector onto a screen in front of the cabing. If you had seen the movies or were not interested to watch them it was just togh like, you could read the Inflight Magaziine instead HeHe :-D Commercial flights really have changed in a short time. I used to be one of the passengers smoking in the smoking section, the new travel generation would probably never be able to imagine that that was ever allowed. Thank you for this awesome tripreport. you were very lucky indeed to have that empty seat. The Orange Pride livery was for the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janiero as this very aircraft was used to transport the Dutch athletes and officials to and fro the games.

We do agree with you that we are lucky to have each other to travel with, the big bonus is that we both enjoy the journey of getting to a destination just as much as we enjoy being at the destination. KLM is one of our favorite European airlines, of course nothing comes close to the service we know from the Asian Airlines. We always appreciate it when we get metal cutlery but must say that if we have to get plastic then the KLM cutlery "Hard Plastic" is very good, it does not bend or break when you are trying to sometimes "saw" through a big piece of meat or chicken breast, HeHe. my experience when you are flying solo: try to book an aisle seat in a row where the window seat is already taken. in 60% of the flights, the middle seat then remains free.
this is what I love about watching your videos........even after a long flight and all that walking you did through KL airport to get to the train station, you both still had a big smile on your faces at the end! I would be so tired and grumpy. LOL Have a great time.....

Maro, I had to admit I was holding my breath waiting for you to open your salad and dressing. LOL I didn'y know what was going to happen. Maxi have you ever thought about bringing a small blanket with you just in case you get cold. I prefer bringing my own as I can't always know if the airlines blankets are sterilized or not. I love your videos and hope you both had a lovely time!

Good morning Dave, lovely hearing from you again. First of all one more thank you for your kind PayPal Tip Jar donations and nice message you wrote with it on Paypal, we wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2020 too! :-D You hit the nail on the head exactly as regards the seat, we can hear that you know the feeling. Our words were exactly "Close the Door, Close the Door" so that we can have that middle seat HaHa! Normally somebody always comes at the last minute but this time we got very lucky, it was fantastic. The aisle seat was actually taken, but the guy who had it saw that the row behind us only had one person so he grabbed that seat (aisle) in the hope that nobody had it. It turned out to be a win-win for all of us (big thanks to that fellow passenger for quick thinking!). There is no Jakarta Flight. The reason we write Jakarta is because this aircraft is also the Jakarta flight operated by KLM. When the aircraft arrives at Kuala Lumpur all passengers disembark. The aircraft is then cleaned and then the passengers traveling onward to Jakarta board again along with new passengers flying from Kuala Lumpur. This is very similar to the Singapore Airlines experience we had when flying from Singapore to Stockholm via Moscow :-D Thanks again for watching our video, for commenting and supporting the channel! Hi again Jo, Marc and family, greetings from a cold Copenhagen -2 degrees Celsius Copenhagen, we hope you are all well, we are fine here enjoying the beginning of the festive season :-D We are happy as always to hear that you enjoyed this video, KLM is one of our favorite European Airlines. The food was not bad even though there were quite a few Carbs. Nowadays we are careful with Carbs but do eat them on weekends etc. Making a homemade burger with French Fries on a Friday evening after work is always a treat, we try to allow ourselves one Carb Day a week and that helps to maintain the waistline (a steady weight that we are both satisfied with). The space between us was awesome, we both really appreciated it! That was the first time we have ever had an empty seat between us (as far as we remember) on a Long Haul flight. Another great video, thank you. I must say you were really lucky to get that extra seat free, it really makes such a difference on long haul flights to have that extra space. Did you book a window and an aisle seat? If someone had booked the middle seat would you have asked them to swap or just have someone in the middle of you both? Have a great day both of you!
Hello again Andrea, as always nice hearing from you. We were very lucky with the seat indeed. Actually the isle seat was taken by a man (you can see when we are first seated). Thanks to his quick thinking he saw that the row behind us only had one person and therefore he moved one row back to create a win-win for him and us. Had somebody been on that seat then he would have come back to sit with us. We have heard of that strategy of booking seats and leaving the seat between us empty. We have never done that and never will for two reasons: 1. The flights we are on are almost always full meaning the middle seat will be occupied. 2. Purposely leaving the seat space between when booking seats is rather selfish in our opinion! It is selfish because many people like us pay to book a particular seat and do not want to be asked to change seats if that is the case. If people want to be sure to sit together, then they should pre-book the seats like the rest of us do (pay extra). Too often on Long Haul flights we see people discussing with others, basically putting fellow passengers in a "funny" position just because they do not want to spend the money to reserve a particular seat. Jet Lag is something we get like everybody else... the way we cope with it is to try to go to sleep according to local times at our destination or when we get home (get the body into a normal sleeping rhythm). We. Are having another night of watching flight videos! It’s raining a lot here. I think KLM will start flying from LBA soon with limited capacity. We are waiting for the quarantine rules to ease. I flew KLM economy to SIN in 2014. Full flight but good service.
Hope you had a nice evening. The rain you mention is supposed to come over to us (In Denmark) today Friday - apparently we can expects storms and very heavy rainfall! Hey, it about time that I was to find a flight route from Amsterdam to Jakarta, what is going on with Garuda Indonesia Airlines flight schedule from Amsterdam to Jakarta I can't find on the internet after 10/01/2019.

We got off in KL but the aircraft continues to Jarkarta, that is why we write it in the title (it is the same flight experience for those going to Jakarta). Hope that makes sense. Haha, this was always my annual lunar new year flight back to Penang for the past 5 years. Too bad won't be flying KLM next year. China Airlines from your video, gives much more value for the same price.
@@Rick-ge1ri The route to Penang is bad value for KLM. Guess it just depends on which routes the individual airlines consider as important or most profitable.

Hi there Richard, thanks for watching our video. We are sorry to hear that you did not have the positive experience that we had. We have also tried the same with other airlines where people recommend and say how good it is, and then we try it and are not impressed. We think as, you say, it can boil down to what is the route you are flying and how is the cabin crew. In our experience service can be quite different from cabin crew to cabin crew within the same airline on a same route ;-) An example could be... on one flight cabin crew will continuously walk around offering water and juice during the night and then on the same route with a different cabin crew you may hardly see any crew out and about at night (that said you can always fetch drinks and snacks free of charge in the Galley - with most Long Haul Airlines). Thanks for another great report! Brought back memories of my very first long haul flight. KLM 747-400 Amsterdam to Ho Chi Minh City via Kuala Lumpur in February 1995. Of course those days there was no back of the seat entertainment, just a number of TVs suspended from the ceiling of the aircraft and you had to watch what was on, I remember the main movie was Forest Gump. The cabin crew came around about 3 or times with water & juice. There was also smoking at the rear of the aircraft. How things have changed!

Yes times have most certainly changed since the 70´s, 80´s and 90´s where there were around two feature films played on long haul flights from a projector onto a screen in front of the cabing. If you had seen the movies or were not interested to watch them it was just togh like, you could read the Inflight Magaziine instead HeHe :-D Commercial flights really have changed in a short time. I used to be one of the passengers smoking in the smoking section, the new travel generation would probably never be able to imagine that that was ever allowed. We do agree with you that we are lucky to have each other to travel with, the big bonus is that we both enjoy the journey of getting to a destination just as much as we enjoy being at the destination. KLM is one of our favorite European airlines, of course nothing comes close to the service we know from the Asian Airlines. We always appreciate it when we get metal cutlery but must say that if we have to get plastic then the KLM cutlery "Hard Plastic" is very good, it does not bend or break when you are trying to sometimes "saw" through a big piece of meat or chicken breast, HeHe. my experience when you are flying solo: try to book an aisle seat in a row where the window seat is already taken. in 60% of the flights, the middle seat then remains free.

Maro, I had to admit I was holding my breath waiting for you to open your salad and dressing. LOL I didn'y know what was going to happen. Maxi have you ever thought about bringing a small blanket with you just in case you get cold. I prefer bringing my own as I can't always know if the airlines blankets are sterilized or not. I love your videos and hope you both had a lovely time!

Good morning Dave, lovely hearing from you again. First of all one more thank you for your kind PayPal Tip Jar donations and nice message you wrote with it on Paypal, we wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2020 too! :-D You hit the nail on the head exactly as regards the seat, we can hear that you know the feeling. Our words were exactly "Close the Door, Close the Door" so that we can have that middle seat HaHa! Normally somebody always comes at the last minute but this time we got very lucky, it was fantastic. The aisle seat was actually taken, but the guy who had it saw that the row behind us only had one person so he grabbed that seat (aisle) in the hope that nobody had it. It turned out to be a win-win for all of us (big thanks to that fellow passenger for quick thinking!). There is no Jakarta Flight. The reason we write Jakarta is because this aircraft is also the Jakarta flight operated by KLM. When the aircraft arrives at Kuala Lumpur all passengers disembark. The aircraft is then cleaned and then the passengers traveling onward to Jakarta board again along with new passengers flying from Kuala Lumpur. This is very similar to the Singapore Airlines experience we had when flying from Singapore to Stockholm via Moscow :-D Thanks again for watching our video, for commenting and supporting the channel! Hi again Jo, Marc and family, greetings from a cold Copenhagen -2 degrees Celsius Copenhagen, we hope you are all well, we are fine here enjoying the beginning of the festive season :-D We are happy as always to hear that you enjoyed this video, KLM is one of our favorite European Airlines. The food was not bad even though there were quite a few Carbs. Nowadays we are careful with Carbs but do eat them on weekends etc. Making a homemade burger with French Fries on a Friday evening after work is always a treat, we try to allow ourselves one Carb Day a week and that helps to maintain the waistline (a steady weight that we are both satisfied with). The space between us was awesome, we both really appreciated it! That was the first time we have ever had an empty seat between us (as far as we remember) on a Long Haul flight. Another great video, thank you. I must say you were really lucky to get that extra seat free, it really makes such a difference on long haul flights to have that extra space. Did you book a window and an aisle seat? If someone had booked the middle seat would you have asked them to swap or just have someone in the middle of you both? Have a great day both of you!
Hello again Andrea, as always nice hearing from you. We were very lucky with the seat indeed. Actually the isle seat was taken by a man (you can see when we are first seated). Thanks to his quick thinking he saw that the row behind us only had one person and therefore he moved one row back to create a win-win for him and us. Had somebody been on that seat then he would have come back to sit with us. We have heard of that strategy of booking seats and leaving the seat between us empty. We have never done that and never will for two reasons: 1. The flights we are on are almost always full meaning the middle seat will be occupied. 2. Purposely leaving the seat space between when booking seats is rather selfish in our opinion! It is selfish because many people like us pay to book a particular seat and do not want to be asked to change seats if that is the case. If people want to be sure to sit together, then they should pre-book the seats like the rest of us do (pay extra). Too often on Long Haul flights we see people discussing with others, basically putting fellow passengers in a "funny" position just because they do not want to spend the money to reserve a particular seat. for e hailing such as grab, you need to wait at level 1 and you need to be at the waiting point when the car arrives. theres time limit now if you exceed it grab will charge you extra cost.

Hi , Maxi & Maro how do you both cope with jetlag while your traveling ? Thank you for the answer and tips and advice , the KLM Orange Aircraft looks so beautiful something unique and different haha thank you for making great videos/vlogs i always enjoyed watching you guys i've watch other youtuber's they are so boring lol i don't know how you guys do it even though you guys are jet-lag keep up the great works but remember to take some breaks as well too we are all only human's not a robot haha . Jet Lag is something we get like everybody else... the way we cope with it is to try to go to sleep according to local times at our destination or when we get home (get the body into a normal sleeping rhythm). Lately we have been working rather hard with the editing and are looking forward to a Christmas Break coming up. We. Are having another night of watching flight videos! It’s raining a lot here. I think KLM will start flying from LBA soon with limited capacity. We are waiting for the quarantine rules to ease. I flew KLM economy to SIN in 2014. Full flight but good service.
Hope you had a nice evening. The rain you mention is supposed to come over to us (In Denmark) today Friday - apparently we can expects storms and very heavy rainfall! We would say that to date KLM is our favorite airline. They have very friendly crews and provide a good Economy service! Have a good day and upcoming weekend both of you :-D P.S. The EU has been opened up to us living in Denmark for travel - Maro and I hope that Asia may open too and then we will head there! Our hope is either Singapore or Penang, we are crossing fingers!!!

Hey, it about time that I was to find a flight route from Amsterdam to Jakarta, what is going on with Garuda Indonesia Airlines flight schedule from Amsterdam to Jakarta I can't find on the internet after 10/01/2019.
They changed the route, now it's Amsterdam-Denpasar Bali via Medan. No more Jakarta.

Hi there Lawrence, this aircraft along with many of the passengers continues on to Jakarta. We got off in KL but the aircraft continues to Jarkarta, that is why we write it in the title (it is the same flight experience for those going to Jakarta). Hope that makes sense. Haha, this was always my annual lunar new year flight back to Penang for the past 5 years. Too bad won't be flying KLM next year. China Airlines from your video, gives much more value for the same price.
@@Rick-ge1ri The route to Penang is bad value for KLM. Guess it just depends on which routes the individual airlines consider as important or most profitable.
We really enjoyed flying with China Airlines, particularly on the way to Taipei where we were in Premium Economy! We wish you a lovely trip, where are you flying from?

Hi there Richard, thanks for watching our video. We are sorry to hear that you did not have the positive experience that we had. We have also tried the same with other airlines where people recommend and say how good it is, and then we try it and are not impressed. We think as, you say, it can boil down to what is the route you are flying and how is the cabin crew. In our experience service can be quite different from cabin crew to cabin crew within the same airline on a same route ;-) An example could be... on one flight cabin crew will continuously walk around offering water and juice during the night and then on the same route with a different cabin crew you may hardly see any crew out and about at night (that said you can always fetch drinks and snacks free of charge in the Galley - with most Long Haul Airlines).
