What happened to Jesse James “Austin Speed Shop”? Why did it end?

- With the kind of success that Jesse James had acquired in the motorcycle-building business and the reality television industry, it was unthinkable that he could encounter a massive failure when he created and produced the TV show called “Austin Speed Shop.” Allegedly, it was such a major flop that fans wouldn’t find anything about it on his Wikipedia page. It was as if it didn’t exist at all, which was frustrating to some fans who heard about it because they felt that they could have learned more about customization, as the TV show was a compilation of some sort of how-to videos. The big question in everyone’s mind was why it ended after one season with just three episodes, and what happened to Jesse after it failed.
We'll try to answer to questions below in this video:
Who is Jesse James from Monster Garage?
Where is Jesse James today?
What happened to Jesse James?
How old is Jesse James from Monster Garage?
How tall is Jesse James?
How rich is Jesse James from Monster Garage?
Where does Jesse James live?
Who is Jesse James wife today?
What is Jesse James ethnicity and nationality?

Working skills are not enough when you lack interpersonal skills. His character involving his wife and how he managed that whole thing revealed a lot about him and it marked the beginning of the end of him as a TV personality.

He is not close to being worth a billion dollars. Far from it. More like $10-$20 million. (Which is a lot).
@@bryanluntz1603
His deal with Walmart was a standard merchandise royalty. He never manufactured anything that was sold (as scale) in Walmart. The deal was done about 25 years ago and they don’t even carry most if any of the items anymore. In years past he has done a couple of interviews where he overstates the value of the deal - which is where your (mis) information is probably coming from. JJ was always a flaky BSer - great motorcycle designer though - but it ends there.

I went to his shop in the early 2000’s and his finish work is subpar. You could see sand scratches, fisheyes and orange peel on his paint jobs. I was disappointed because I had driven from San Diego to see some top notch work only to see a butchers hand in his craftsmanship but that’s Hollywood for you.

Love him or hate him there is no denying he is one of if not the best builder /fabricator around, and doesn't take BS from anyone.
Yeah, he’s a real peach. Eff that clown,
The stuff that he makes is quite easy. Try fitting and welding nuclear pressure piping. You can’t just recall that. If his work craps out (which his does) you’ll need a ride home. If our work fails, that part of the planet is uninhabitable for 100,000 years.

A man with such incredible ability for building things, probably could have done anything he wanted with a good manager. Selling yourself to the public is tough. I liked the hell out of him, but I could see it would be short lived.

I'm sure Jesse James is doing fine, just cuz he's not on TV doesn't mean he's not killing it building bikes
His problem was/is that he lets his ego make most of his decisions! You can never be a real man until you have control of your ego.
Went there on a trip to Austin. It was a cool shop but not alot of work going on. Definately different vibe from a regular shop or other custom shops
I worked in Hollywood as a art director graphic designer. I designed the poster for his spike TV show. 😂 I wondered what happened to him.

He got the "Pay Up Sucker" tattoo after he was on TV. I remember seeing it shown when he got it.

Yep and no drama and bullshit attitude.
I never liked any show that Jesse was involved with! His arrogant personality (nobody is as good as me at what I do!) and his tuff guy attitude ruined every show! And I like car shows! And appreciate the talent of the builders.
There's no denying that James is an intelligent and talented man, but this story pretty much skipped the fact that he acted like
one miserable s.o.b. Monster Garage certainly played up Jesse's ignorant and disrespectful treatment of his "crew". What the
hell kind of fool marries Sandra Bullock only to end up cheating on her? It seems he cultivated his own problems.
Jesse James didn’t get the pay up sucker tattoo until he did the discovery show as he got the tattoo on the show.
2:35 Bro, I know it’s spelled “awry”, but it’s pronounced uhrye.
The dude has the hand made talent of the old world..Where no computer drafted plans exist and everything is done from an idea in your head. It takes hard earned skills and craftsmanship. We now exist in a world where computers design and build everything and people will tolerate mistakes in the name of speed and price. Sad really
It doesn't hurt Jesse looks cool, is handsome, marketable, and has a cool name. If it was me building stuff on a show, it wouldn't work at all lol
Was he Danzig's body guard before or after Dan Marianino knocked Danzig out?
That’s what happens when your ego gets in the way ..
A skilled craftsman and innovator but I never cared for him as the person he presented himself as. I think a strong reason he went down with the Austin thing and celebrity life in general was the sordid situation with Sandra Bullock. Even in these days of enlightenment one does not cheat on a woman regarded by so many as an American girl next door.
I have a friend whose childhood was a torture due to abusive parents but he managed to become a doctor of veterinary medicine. Sadly, James always had that hint of a yahoo that hung over him.
What was that carb fine again?
He smoked occ in the bike build off imo. His bikes were real works of art.
This is what happened. They gave him that show just for the sake of having 2 different Biker Build Off specials. The first one was good. Then he publicly burnt his bridge with Discovery. They brought back Monster Garage, not sure if it was successful or not. He released a pilot that nobody picked up, but History channel stole the concept and created Forged In Fire.
I have the up most respect for Jesse i am a tig welder for 37 years i pushed to be as good as i can be he is the same way you have to do things your own way to be great at it or you will be like everyone else i would like to be working at his shop tattoos welding hotrods ratrods and motorcycles is what i love
I watched till the end! 👍🏻
I got sick of Jesse James bad attitude and would never watch his reality TV shows. ( West Coast Choppers) He may be a tough guy but that’s no excuse for the way he treated his wife Sandra Bullock.
You didn’t talk about his other show with Austin Speed Shop on Discovery, where he built a roadster for Paul Teutel Sr. and he also built a maroon 32 roadster for himself. I remember one episode where one of his fabricators chose getting tattooed over showing up to work and Jesse told him don’t be an idiot.
Jesse told it like he say it. At least in the Garage he was right. Then Fame hits along with the demands and pressure. Then married a high profile actress. Bad Combo for a guy like this.
Jesse is a cool dude. BUT!!! got a big head and ego exploded. And that was the downfall of Jesse. I would like to see him come back with a better attitude. The Jesse when he was a nobody. Just like that.
Good luck Jesse.

Like the choppers craze of the early 70's, they died out when riders realized they suck to actually ride. Then it happened again in the 90's with West coast and orange county reality shows.
