This is the first in a series of videos on how to manage and use LibreNMS. This is my first video, so please leave me comments if something is unclear or i could do something better.
To restart the LibreNMS Service use: systemctl restart librenms.service
Correction:
My first debug capture of the discovery and polling process didn't work because i had the error in the nginx config as shown at the end of the video. This should of still polled manually regardless of the librenms service status.

That last poller / dispatcher thing, was something i always missed. So i never god my devices, to work properly.
Now i will definately need, to install it again.
I'm not the most fluent linux user and I've run into a problem. When trying to edit the 50-server.cnf the file is blank. The directory exists but there are no files in the directory. Any suggestions/help would be appreciated.
For anybody else averse to vi, do this before running any scripts:
alias vi='nano'

Great video series, I appreciate all the detailed instructions. I currently started a LibreNMS server in my environment and I'm trying to find a way to securely add SNMP to windows desktops. Are you using SNMP with windows workstations or are you using CIM and if CIM, how did you get that setup? I have been trying to find a way to get NSclient++ or any other client to give that info in the meantime. I am really hoping you have a video you might make in the future involving Windows machine polling. Thanks again for the series. Looking forward to more.

Bro, you gotta make tutorials taking in point that not everyone speaks linux like you do. Video makes it seem like everyone watching knows what everything is and where to get stuff. Beginners in linux will really struggle with your instructions.

how are you able to copy and paste the text to Ubuntu? I am using virualbox to run the VM. I went into setting and enabled shared clipboard, but still unable to copy and paste the text. Any help would be much appreciated ! thank you
yeah usually can't copy and paste like in hypervisors console. i always ssh into the box.

@@elishagilmore9294 SSH to the ip or hostname you are typing into the web browser to access librenms. Actually you need to look at this doc docs.librenms.org/Installation/Images/ they say you need to ssh on port 2023

Do the other device must have snmp to be added? if yes then do we have to also install librenms to the other device? or is there any other way for other device to have community string.
LibreNMS supports either SNMP or PING Only devices, so the device MUST support SNMP, each device is different in how you set that up, so you will have to look at the device documentation. If the device doesn't support SNMP but you can still ping it, you can add it as a PING only device, but you will not get any graphs.
